Earlier this month I moved to a new place. I did the online address update and I also have new DL. However when I try to change my FOID address I'm getting the following message:
This Information does not match the Secretary Of State information we have on record.
///my new address///
If you Continue To Payment, your information will be saved, but please remember To update your Driver's License information promptly. Once payment is complete, a new card will be sent to you.
Soon it will be a month since I have the DL with my new address.
Any recommendations? Should I call ISP?
Would it be legal for a brother (22y) to gift someone a handgun (20y) if both members are legally able to own a firearm?
I can only imagine this has been asked before so apologies in advance. Can one legally buy and own an M1 Garand in Illinois or would I need to go the Civilian Marksmanship Program route to be able to legally own such a weapon?
So I was using this site I found and it had a list of every 2a related court case going on in Illinois and you can see updates for each individual case, I can't seem to find this site anymore. Anyone got a site they can recommend, preferably one that has both the long winded and summarize version of the updates? Mostly interested in the pica, (obviously we all are) the melting point law, and the food card cases.
Transferred a firearm to a buddy of mine. Noticed it months later that the wrong serial number is listed on the receipt - I’m assuming the wrong serial number was also listed on the 4473.
Hello all. I have a C&R. I’m looking to purchase an M1 Carbine that comes with the standard 15 round mag. Since the gun is an antique, and I have my Type 03, is it legal for me to buy the gun and keep the mag? Buying the gun isn’t an issue but is the mag a problem for an antique for someone with a Type 3?
So the smallest gun I own currently is a Ruger LCP max that I throw on if I don't feel like carrying anything big that day, or I'll have it as my backup.
But honestly, I also know someone who has the little Bauer 25 ACP pocket gun.
And then I was looking at the Beretta Tomcat, and then went down this tiny gun rabbithole.
Look, I'm not saying I still don't prefer bigger handguns than those. But they have a certain charm to them.
Plus its kind of nice to have a backup gun that isn't that hard to conceal at all
I have my FOID and CCL for Illinois, however I’m trying to purchase a handgun but they only make it in 18+1 round capacity, so I cannot purchase it in Illinois. Am I able to purchase that handgun in another state where it is legal, and bring it into Illinois? Obviously I know the magazine limit will be illegal but I can “toss them” before coming home and purchasing 15 round mags. Has anyone does this? Or know if it’ll be an issue in a different state since I’m from IL?
Greetings,
We are Stiffler Manufacturing, a slide manufacturer for DIY style builds for the Gen 1-3 Glock 19 in Arizona.
We are looking into reaching out to gun shops, vendors, and distributors in the Illinois area.
It is our understanding that 80% frames and receivers, unless they are serialized, are illegal in Illinois.
Do the pro-2A Illinoisans know of any further restrictions or issues that we should be aware of or consider?
Thank you for your time.
So I was just wondering how much of the firearm has to be “concealed” during my class last year I remember him saying not all of it has to be completely concealed but I was seeking for more education on that?
I posted just over a month ago wondering how long my CCL renewal was going to take. When I applied the first time in 2019 it took the full 120 days and although I didn't think I'd have any background issues I didn't want to be in limbo for 4 months.
I reached out to the ISPFSB and explained my circumstances at the end of the week and they ran my background and issued the new CCL with a response email by Monday.
Applied 3/1/2024 with a training waiver using my Firearms Control Card but no prints.
"Expired 4/9/2024"
Contacted ISP 4/18/2024
Background passed and CCL reissued 4/22/2024
Total of 53 days from application and only 13 days from expiration.
If your cards are being held up for some reason try reaching out, it worked for me.
What self defense ammo would you recommend for a CZ-p10c?
Hello everyone, was curious if anyone knew of any military collector or gun shows upcoming in Illinois? Trying to get my hands on a Nambu pistol and figured a gun show would probably be my best bet to actually find one.
Also anything I need to know or prepare for before going to a gun show? I’ve never been and want to make sure I’ve got all my ducks in a row.
Thanks in advance for any advice and help.
I am currently 20, do I have to wait to turn 21 to apply for CCL or FOID?
I wanna be able to have both as soon as possible.
Also, I know my Step-Father & Mother have FOID/CCL if that makes any difference.
What happens if i dont appeal for my foid card and i my case closes after 60 days? Will i be able to submit another application in the future?
This is somethings that's bothered me for awhile. Especially because I have an aunt who watches 'The View' religiously.
Its been really annoying because she knows I have guns, and she'll try to bring up one of Joy Behar's stances on gun control.
For example, shes convinced you can buy a gun online without passing a background check.
But the thing that bothers me was she said 'You can't eat a deer you shoot with an AR15, because you demolished the animal.'
I had to actually look up the clip because I couldn't believe anyone would actually say that. Sure enough, its an actual thing she said on the show.
I don't think shes ignorant, I think she just knows nobody will fact check her.
I’ve recently posted asking if I could use my expired ID to purchase firearms however I renewed my State ID and I currently have the temporary one could I buy firearms with it ?
I am trying to get an appeal started and while the ISP has received my online documents, they continue to deny receiving my postage from my doctor's office. I have sent it using USPS and FedEx, I have receipt of delivery, but when I call to check if they have received it, the answer is no, both times. I am not sure how to proceed from here, as when I spoke with the ISP, they said they do not sign for mail. Did anyone write a senator or find a solution to this type of issue?
ANSWERED: As mentioned in the comments, I emailed my state rep with my DOB, address, and case #. Got a phone call the next business day from my rep. This is a frequent issue.
The reason why I excluded PICA and the Foid is because if I included them in this question, everyone would pick those two. Yes I want PICA and the FOID gone, but I wanted to get more creative.
Me Personally? I would want to remove the melting point law, so I can buy a Hi Point Yeet Cannon.
So free for all, if you could change one law, not including PICA or FOID that would make things slightly more conveniant, what are you changing?
Is there an Illinois compliant 2011? Like a Springfield prodigy or staccato. I haven’t seen any in the local stores. Been wanting one and I regret not purchasing one before the dumb gun ban.
Was thinking of getting a better trigger for my Glock 19. I know it can work against me in court for a self defense situation. I’m also thinking it can be used in my favor maybe? Lighter trigger pull obviously has pros and can help with getting shots on target making me more proficient. What do you guys think?
Good day everyone, in August I am going to College in Iowa and my first stop in my flight is gonna be Illinois. I intend to bring an M17 with me for CCW purposes in Iowa and am wondering if there will be any issue with transporting it through Illinois on my way. I mainly ask due to the 17 and 21 round magazine that come with it and I saw that Illinois has a 15 round mag limit. If there is anywhere I can write or call about this a forward to them would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the answers have a wonderful day.
I bought a gun in December with the intention to train and eventually get my CCW permit. I’m at the point where I’m confident in my shooting ability, but for some reason I’m hesitant to take the class to get it. I don’t know if worrying about being charged for lawfully defending myself if I ever have to, or something else. I hope that makes sense.
Title says it all. A gun you find stupid/impractical. But you still want to buy one.
For me thats an obvious choice, either a Desert Eagle in 50 AE. I know the rounds are expensive, I'm probably not gonna shoot it as much, and I'm literally only buying it to fulfill my ten year old selfs dream of having a gun that Arnold would approve of.
And then on the other end of the spectrum, I want a Hi Point yeet cannon even though I know its blocky and ugly, but its more because its banned here in the state that makes me want it.
So whats the gun you know is stupid but you want it anyway?
I ordered a 11.5” barrel off a well known website seeing if it would even go through. Well it says shipped what now?
(I don’t own or possess an ar15 or anything that it could go to.)
Thanks!
EDIT: they let me cancel the order, said if I check the rules as long as it’s not complete, no bcg or charge handle it wouldn’t be a problem.
Haven’t seen any news since like February. Has anyone heard anything new about the status of PICA regarding where it is in the appeal/legal process?
Hello I checked on the ISP website and it said my CCL was printed on 3/18/24 I still haven't received it how long does it normally take? I live in Chicago if that matters.
