Hi All,
I am in the market for for a 12 gauge semi-auto hunting shotgun. I am wanting to look at a400 or sbe3. Before dropping that kind of cash I would love to shoot one first. Anyone know of any ranges where you can rent hunting shotguns in northern IL or southern Wisconsin and shoot some clays?
Just finished my CCL class today, and submitted paperwork and application as well. Anyone who submitted without fingerprints got their license pretty quick?
I'm buying a new shotgun for an upcoming hunting trip and stopped by Bass Pro in Gurnee to pick up a Winchester SX4. When going through the paperwork, the attendant compared my FOID to Driver License and noticed that the addresses didn't match (I never did an address for my FOID change since I moved in 2021). Now I'm trying to change my address on the FOID website and cannot get my address to match what the secretary of state has. When I type in my apartment number on the FOID website (e.g., APT 110) it will remove the zero from the end. It looks like the form only accepts 6 characters; "APT 110" has 7 characters if you include the space. So I submitted "APT110" (no space) and received the following message: "This Information does not match the Secretary Of State information we have on record." I decided to proceed with payment and now the current status is "Under Review," however, there is a note that reads "your submission successfully completed the background review and has been sent to await printing." How big of a pain in the ass do I have in store for me? Anyone else experience this issue and have a way to circumvent the website / find a timeline solution?
Well I waited a year I hope that there would be some movement with PICA, but since it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen any time soon I’m trying to figure what to buy? I’ve got two pistols, should I get a budget friendly ruger 10/22? a shot gun? Or save a little more and a pc carbine or lever action rifle?
Having an issue with my FFL. Ordered a Benelli M4 that was delivered today. It’s a semi-auto shotgun that I believed adhered to the legal requirements of IL. The tube holds 5 rounds, and I ordered the field stock as I know the pistol grip or collapsible stocks are illegal.
So I go to sign the paperwork after I see a FedEx delivery confirmation online. Show up, and the shop says they unfortunately can’t release it as it qualifies as an “assault weapon” due to the magazine tube being able to be upgraded. Makes no sense to me, but they are saying ISP has verbiage pertaining to the ease of upgrading capacity through the aftermarket or ordered OEM parts. How this is different from getting handguns with reduced round capacity for anti-2A States, I don’t know. Both legally comply as shipped from the manufacturer and a 15+ rounds pistol magazine can be easily acquired and ”upgrade” that pistol beyond the State’s 15 round limit. But I understand logic doesn’t always apply either.
Makes no sense to me for a number of reasons, but neither do most of these anti-2A laws. Not faulting the shop, they are great and I understand they are protecting themselves with these grey areas cases. So I ended up calling my local range to see if they would accept the transfer. I explained the situation with the other shop, and the manager agreed he’d still take care of the transfer because it didn’t have the pistol grip and came shipped from the manufacturer with a state legal 5 round capacity tube.
So talked to the original FFL and he agreed to help me out and drive the M4 over to the range that is only 5 minutes away. After showing up and talking to these guys, guess the range owner got involved, asking why they wouldn’t accept the transfer. Supposedly, after this conversation, the range owner decided to not accept the transfer either.
My question is, does anyone know if this is just an over cautious FFL or is the Benelli M4, the model with 5 round capacity tube and a field stock, really not legal in IL?
Hi! Looking to feel a bit safer while I'm on my own, any way I can obtain a gun or FOID under 21 with no parent or guardian to sign?
For anyone wondering about CCL time frames here's mine.
• CCW Classes - Oct 31 & Nov 1st
• Applied With Prints - Nov 1st
• Moved into background - Dec 24th
• Moved into printing and active - Dec 26th
• Received Card in mail - Jan 10
Looking for ways to upgrade the gun as the trigger feels a bit rough, and looking for holsters as well, any other modifications anyone recommends????
How are your feelings towards 80% lowers?
We all accrue things over time in the gun sphere. I want to purge things but am having a hard time finding an avenue to sell things. All the things I want to sell are perfectly legal to do so, but because they are gun related, places like Facebook marketplace etc filter them out. I was trying to sell a plate carrier and a scope and those things get taken down.
I tried Craigslist but does anyone even use it anymore? I never even get interest from people on there.
I know and love GAFs. But admittedly it’s kinda a pita to get the post absolutely perfect and post on the right day and build a reputation etc., some of the stuff I wanna sell, I also don’t want to even bother shipping.
Armslist used to be good before they went full paywall etc. but also I haven’t used it in a few years, do people still find it useful in IL?
Like for example, ammo. If I want to sell a couple hundred rounds of ammo, where can I list that?
Is there a platform out there that allows local sale of gun adjacent goods? What do you guys do?
Curious how long folks current wait is for CCL approval. The stats for November were an average of 50 or so days w/prints.
"On Tuesday, according to The Washington Times, Republican Reps. Eric Burlison of Missouri and Lauren Boebert of Colorado introduced legislation that would abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Times also reported that Burlison will introduce legislation that would repeal the 1934 National Firearms Act, which, though much amended, served as the basis for a 1986 federal ban on the possession of most machine guns by private citizens."
Still a snowballs chance in hell it would pass, but one can dream cant they?
Just looking for recommendations.
Apologies, guys, but I am confused. If I want to go to the range with a 30-round mag for my AR-15, am I allowed to under the current law? I honestly do not understand how the judges ruling back and forth impact that. Does the law prohibit us from possessing? Or just buying? Thank you and again, apologies.
Did anyone have luck getting a store online to ship this for the ones who live in crook county?
good evening!
basically, i was a long-time illinois resident up until 2022, and never owned a gun while living in the state. i'm moving back into the state from Alabama, and since being here have acquired a rifle that I don't want to part with. while in the process of moving and getting my information updated so that i may apply for my FOID, is it safe for me to transport the rifle into the state and then leave it with my father (who has his FOID) until i receive my card? or should i leave it with my fiance, who is headed into Michigan for the time being? im sorry if this is a stupid question, i've never done this type of stuff before.
Does anyone know if an ffl can put in magazine blocks? I can't seem to find any definite information. I've been told by 2 they don't know so they won't do it but said some else might be willing. I want to get a springfield 1911 ds prodigy but it only comes in 17/20 or 10 round. Staccato sells 15 rounds but they're $45 each. If I can only get 10 rounds, I can't see the point of getting it over any other 1911.
So I tried ordering some Magpul stuff to replace old furniture on my pre pica owned rifles and could not find any place to ship. I ordered from Brownells/Primary Arms/ Optics Planet and PSA and I got the dreaded cancellation email within an hour of placing from all. Called all the places to inquire why and they told me a stock and grip even if being used to non AWB items are still considered restricted and only able to be sold to Leo or Ex Leo. This shit is so frustrating especially when you're just trying to be a good tax paying boy who only wants to plink and protect his family. Honestly considering just selling my house and moving to a state in which I can freely do what I want.
How the hell does that happen lol Anyways what are some ways this optic cover doesn’t fly off again ?
Long story short my Brother-in-law had a temporary 6Month Order of Protection (Crazy story from a jealous Ex-girlfriend when she found out he was getting married) they only SUSPENDED the FOID, not revokeda and the OP is over with. What's his process to get it back? I moved to Michigan last year and the only attorney I knew has since left the state as well. Is it an automatic review? Does he send in the expired order? I don't think he wants to spend thousands on a lawyer if it isn't necessary.
1000-1500$ range.
I’m looking to buy myself a new firearm. No qualifications other than that.
I like pistol shooting, rifles and, trap/skeet
I have firearms that are good at all of those spots.
What would you buy for a PICA compliant birthday gift.
Note- I don’t own any PICA compliant home defense rifles. Thinking about an M1 Garand for history or (it’s over budget) but the new RPR for long range shooting
“Legal questions” I guess as I couldn’t find a fitting flair.
