I took my rifle out to the range and my shots landed everywhere. Granted, I don't have much experience shooting rifles and so I'm not sure if it was just my horrible aim or my old barrel. I did get it for a very low price.
Is there any way to tell if a barrel should be retired just by looking at it?
A gun store near me has a fairly okay condition m44 for $475, I asked if they would do $375 and they refused, they also had a Chinese m44 that was absolutely beat to shit with a dark pitted bore that they want $375 for.
Am I delusional or are these prices delusional? Are they really going for this much?
Top is a 1946 production and bottom is a 1944 production. Both seem pretty mint, the 1944 has a little bore corrosion I just need to shoot out of it.
Anyone shoot theirs? I' don't have one ... I'm just wondering what you all think about shooting them?
My third time taking it out to the range. Put some rounds through it then this started seemingly randomly. Got it at a pawn shop.
Hello,
I am going and shopping for a rifle today and ill be looking at a couple mosins in some small shops. I was wondering if y’all had a small list of things that I should look for that would be make or break. I know this is a YouTube thing, but every video I have watched is hyper detailed of every variation. Any help is appreciated and ill update if I find something cool.
Top to bottom. 1898,1901,1917 Russian. Finn M27, Finn 28 Ski trooper, another M28, Hungarian 91/30 non-sniper.
Bought this years ago. Finally got around to cleaning it up. Had a smith do some work to help with bolt lockup. Still gotta slap the shit out the bolt to run it. But at least I can run consecutive rounds now!
Sighted in at 25yd, gonna aim for 100 next time around. Circa 1943
So after shooting corrosive ammo I used to flush my barrel with cups and cups of hot water and then clean with patches and solvent, putting an oil wipe to finish up. Then I realize it is probably not good to have water seeping in between my stock and barrel but I am also too lazy to disassemble my mosin everytime. Now after shooting I just bring the rifle back home and wipe the barrel+bolt+chamber with solvent-soaked patches until no dirty stuff coming out, and put oil through to finish up.
I have been doing this for the past month and checked my bore again today, both bore and rifiling seems shiny and there's not a spot of anything abnormal, does that mean it is safe for me to not flush it with water?
Also, I am about to run out of my little bottle of solvent coming with a cleaning kit, I wonder what's everyone's opinion on different brands of solvent? The one I'm currnetly using is from SLIP2000, it seems to be working fine. I have also heard ppl talking a lot about Hoppe's 9, and some other brands I can't really remember. Which one works the best or the brands doesn't really matter?
I’m working on a funny little obrez project right now and looking for a mount to throw an eotech or something on I’ve seen a lot of mounts that fit the rear sight but I’m looking for something that doesn’t need any or much drilling at all any help is appreciated
Inherited the SKS from a family member a few year back. The mosins are new to the collection though.
Won the Mosin 91/30 PU off of an auction about a month ago. While waiting for the PU to ship, found a regular mosin 91/30 and decided to buy it to add to my collection.
Now that I have these nice firearms, its off to the next addition to the collection. Any recommendations for what I should go for next?
Just started to fix it up. Finn m28 ski patrol. Any thoughts?
I just fired my Finn m28 SIG barrel .311 bore Mosin for the first time and all seemed well, until I tried to extract the round. The bolt was quite hard to cycle back. I cycled a live round from the same pack earlier with ease. I’m using TulAmmo 7.62x54R 48 grain steel cased non corrosive black box. The casing is unscathed and appears identical to an unfired round except for a normal 0.0015 inch expansion in the necked down segment. Does anyone know why it made the bolt hard to cycle? After the bolt was upright it was easy to pull back and the extractor worked perfectly.
I’m kinda freaking out because I don’t know if I broke my Rifle. I have not tried to fire it again since. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and I will do my best to answer any questions any of you may have.
The rifle and its bolt appear in the same condition as they were. I cleaned the gun prior to shooting and the bore is in near perfect condition.
Looking for barrel bands for a m28 Finnish ski patrol. Been looking everywhere for them. And can’t find the right ones? Any tips?
Hello this is my first post and I would like to know if the Mosin Nagant 91/30 would be drinkable for hunting? Thank you in advance!
Has anybody got any experience with this?
