Sportsmans warehouse

Hey all, just wondering if anyone has experience with sportsmans warehouse. I ordered a glock online to be shipped to a local ffl. When I ordered, my card was charged for the purchase. The order just shipped to my ffl and upon looking at my account, it seems the charge was refunded to my account? I have not picked it up yet. Am I supposed to pay at the FFL? (Aside from transfer fee) Is sportsmans warehouse going to charge me upon pickup or at some other random time? Or did they mess us and give me a free glock?

Can anyone recommend instructors — really anywhere in the state — who aren't over the top political, extreme, and knows how to absolutely separate politics from their lessons. Perhaps left-wing friendly ranges, instructors, and such?

I'm not looking to debate anyone or hear folks act like children over political disagreements. It's cool if you believe something else, but I'm hoping everyone is adult enough and as concerned about others' freedoms as they are their own.

Custom Kydex/NE GA?

Any companies or hobbyists within a reasonable drive from Savannah that do custom Kydex? Looking to have a couple holsters and sheaths made and would prefer to

  1. support a local business
  2. avoid sending the guns/knives in the mail

what's it like to get your first suppressor (Gwinnett)

what's it like to get your first suppressor (Gwinnett)? I remember wait times used to be measured in months but I heard someone at PSA talking about it being much quicker now, and I'd love a can to protect my hearing.

Does the Sherriff have to sign off on NFA items, or get notified, or something still?

How did Georgia turn blue in 2020, whilst it's one of the most pro gun states?.

Any Forest where I can shoot outside of the range in ATL?

I want to do some experiments with my firearm, and it is hard to find a range to do that freely. I'm wondering if there is any forest in Atlanta where I can shoot my firearm.

Wilson Shoals WMA questions

I tried calling the range phone number once, but they were unavailable to answer the phone at the time.

Do I need empty chamber flags, or is leaving the action open enough for a cold range?

Do they provide some type of target stand, or do I need to bring my own target stand for the rifle range? Last time I went was well before the renovation, and we brought campaign/bandit signs to affix our paper targets to.

I have more rifles than my two carrying cases. Is it OK to carry unloaded firearms in the open to the benches, or should I plan to make multiple trips back to my vehicle to transport one rifle per carrying case at a time to the firing line?

EDIT post-visit report:

No chamber flags needed.

Target stands and stapler gun provided.

Carrying rifles without a case is OK as long as they are empty with the muzzle pointed straight up the whole time.

The RSOs took the rules that apply to the "cold range" very seriously, which I liked. They do walk the firing line checking for open bolts and completely empty guns on the table and rifle racks before releasing shooters to walk downrange. I didn't notice anybody getting a "talking to" for breaking rules besides a polite but firm reminder to me when my bolt action bolt slid forward as I was setting it down so it wasn't open during the switch to cold range and my guest crossing the painted line behind the benches trying to start sweeping up our brass during cold range. I did not find out this visit how rulebreakers that will not correct themselves might get treated. Also, the facilities are nice.

Type of License

Hey y’all! A buddy of mine was telling me that I need a type of license or permit to go outdoor shooting. Is this true and if so what license/permit do I need? I’m under 21 if that plays a factor in anything.

Gift Gun question

My sister is a resident of GA and she owns a few guns. Recently I brought my collection down and she fell in love with one of my guns. She has since asked me to purchase one for her. So my question is can someone from out of state gift a gun to someone in state?

Opinions of Outdoor Depot in Gainsville?

I'm going to be visiting a friend in a few weeks and was looking to pickup some magazines (Walther, Shadows Systems, and maybe some PMags) while I'm in a more 2A friendly state. The Outdoor Depot is about 20min from friend's house and is basically on my way into town.

Do any of you fine locals have experience with this store? How are their prices and stock? Thanks in advance!

Stoddards vs Quickshot range

Hey y'all, I'm just getting into guns and I'm wondering if anyone knows what the best value gun range to buy a membership at in Atlanta is. I'm not going to own a gun just yet, I want to rent their guns. I'm a broke college student though, so I'd like to have the cheapest thing if it doesn't compromise good quality. Thanks!

edit: To be clear, I mean I'd like the range that won't hurt my wallet the most regularly going there. I intend on buying an annual membership.

Passing through!

I’ll be in Georgia next month and would like to bring my Glock as I’ll be camping quite a bit throughout the trip. Here in Florida we have permitless carry so I do not currently have a conceal carry permit. As I understand, Georgia has similar laws in place. However, I noticed that on the website to apply for a firearms license it says you must “Have no drug convictions”. That’s for residents applying for the license. I have a couple misdemeanor marijuana charges from 15 years ago.. Florida doesn’t care about these. With me being a Florida resident and being in compliance with Florida and Federal law, will I be ok? Or should the wife be the only one carrying on this trip? Thanks in advance!

I am a 19 year old student on an F-1 Visa, can I own a handgun in Georgia?

As the title suggests, I am currently 19 living in Georgia, with a valid Georgia's drivers license. Due to the area I live in, I would prefer to have a self-defense handgun but have a few questions regarding the possibility of that, as follows:

  1. Is it possible for me to own a handgun on an F1 visa? I've read about the different laws and regulations but still don't quite understand them, and I've also seen other people talk about potential loopholes but I'm not sure about the specifics either.

  2. I understand that when you are under 21, you are not allowed to purchase from big gun stores but can have one gifted to you or buy from a private sellers. Would this apply to me as well? Or would private sellers see that I am on an F-1 visa and refuse to do so.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't mind having to wait for a lengthy amount of time and also don't plan on taking this gun outside of Georgia or my home and car (possibly with me to run some daily errands but of course not to school and such).

Any been to the Emerson RK gunshow? Trying to move plastic 9mm DAG ammo

Hello, and hold that thought: I am not trying to sell anything here. I am,however trying to find a place to sell this stuff.

Around the time of the pandemic I ran across around 1800 rounds of plastic 9mm blue training ammo by DAG. I no longer want it and I could use the cash. I haven't got around to making an ad over on Outdoors trader but I see that there is a gun show in Emerson this weekend. Since I've never been to the Emerson show,I don't know how lively it is or if there are any ammo collectors.

For those who have been to the Emerson show; what could I expect?

New to guns

Can’t really find what I’m looking for online. I know I can carry a gun that is not concealed with no permit or license. I’ve read that you don’t need a permit or license to conceal carry either. Just hoping someone can point me in the right direction or show me where I can find all the laws. Can I conceal carry my handgun without a license or permit?

Moved from GA to NC, is permit still valid?

I moved from GA to NC. NC has reciprocity with GA permits so in theory my permit is valid here, but is my GA permit still valid as I am no longer a resident of GA?

Edit: dug in to the state code for GA and the weapons carry permit is valid regardless of county or state that you live in. So yes, my GA WCL is still valid and is recognized by NC.

GA Code § 16-11-129

"Such license or renewal license shall authorize that person to carry any weapon in any county of this state notwithstanding any change in that person's county of residence or state of domicile."

College campus carry

Yes it's legal to carry a concealed firearm on public college campus, so long as you are a lawful weapons carrier - and not prohibited from possessing firearms. ( answered, no need for more replys )

Practical Pistol Match Skills, October 2 @ SRGC (Atlanta, GA)

I'm teaching my Match Skills class on October 20 at South River Gun Club east of ATL.

This one-day class teaches how to translate skills developed in structured drills to a freestyle shooting environment like a practical-shooting match. In the morning, we'll work on building a stage plan, mentally rehearsing the mental, physical, and visual cues that comprise it, then executing the plan after the start beep. Afternoon is about shooting efficiently to minimize time and maximize points.

LEO students have stated that the material applies directly applicable to their work.

The class assumes a higher base level of skill than Core Skills—students should be comfortable moving with a handgun and engaging multiple targets. The class will hit some fundamentals, but the focus will be on more on executing them in the context of complex drills and stages.

Class fee is $195 and max class size is six students, so you'll get plenty of one-on-one coaching. Round count will be 400–500 for the day, but you're free to shoot more.

Details on the class: link.
