I drive a pickup truck and am planning to take a trip to upstate NH I was wondering if I can take my handgun with me along with another magazine and if so can I carry it on my person ? Or if I need to have it secured and if so can leaving it under the back seats locked in a security box of some sort will work? I just got my pistol permit and am still learning
Ah yes, nothing like opening the mail and realizing the ATF still has no idea what a "pistol brace" is. It's like they’re just playing a never-ending game of "Guess What We’re Regulating Today!" Meanwhile, we’re over here trying to just enjoy our hobbies without a rulebook that changes more than Connecticut's weather. Can we get a break, please?
Just wondering before I move, if I should do it while I live in Manchester or after I move back to Colchester. I had a permit since 2002 but had a major illness and inadvertently let it expire so now I'm back at square one and times have changed. Any relevant experiences with either of these towns?
Back when I first got my permit in a rural town, it went through the selectman and CSP, and it was a pain in the ass.
Made an account, logged in, and am instructed to click the pistol permit icon in the top left corner of the screen. There is no such icon. It's not just me, right?
Looking to get a rifle for mostly target shooting, and maybe in the future some hunting (white tail deer, coyote) or competition. I’m leaning towards 6.5 just because most people say it’s superior for target shooting and is plenty enough for deer and smaller, and the lower recoil would make it more likely for my girlfriend to be willing to learn how to shoot. Some people have said that .308 is more available and cheaper + longer barrel life, but I wanted input on ammo availability and price compared to 6.5 in CT. Some YouTuber living in Texas is gonna have a different market than us, and I didn’t know if there was a big price and availability disparity here between the two.
This seems to be the first to be he first of the gun bills moved forward in Committee on Children. Public Hearing for the bill on 02/06.
HB 6180 An Act Concerning Notice of Firearms by Operators of Family Child Care Homes
To require (1) family child care home operators to notify parents and guardians of the presence of firearms, and (2) the Office of Early Childhood to take adverse licensing action against operators for violation of said requirement.
Public Hearing 02/06
As currently drafted, bill presents some issues for child care home operators if there are firearms present in the location.
Just a quick post to say I had a great experience with The Tactical Boutique in West Hartford recently. The employee on shift, Abel, was courteous and professional. They had a very competitive price on the firearm I wanted, and provided fast service. I was literally able to complete the purchase over my lunchbreak.
They're a (very) small shop, but they have a reasonable selection in store and can get anything not on hand in a few days.
10/10 recommend. Will be back.
Has anyone gotten there’s ? I just called the slfu and they told me they have not touched any document that were submitted yet to call again if I do not receive it by summer time ???? Am I still gtg with my other until then ? I have used it at the range no issues yet but would rather avoid any if possible
If I was to buy a sig p320 and buy a chassis for it that way I can have a stock on it. could it be possible to obtain a tax stamp to have it legally or would it be a no go because of state rules? And wasn’t registered before the assault weapon ban
This would be the idea
Took and passed a class back in 2010. After that, got finger printed and back round checked at local at local PD. I had mentioned I may be moving towns shortly after, so they said to wait until I had a new address. Life got in the way and I forgot about it completely. Fast forward to today: I never paid to get my actual license (i think it was $70 back then)...
Do I need to take the safety course again, or will the place still have it on record?
Hey guys, sharing this because I’ve had good a good experience with them. Tobacco Valley is running a 20% sale on firearms, ammo and optics tomorrow and Saturday as they are moving location.
If anyone is itching to spend some money haha

It was only introduced 2 days ago but nobody is talking about it. I doubt it’ll pass but it would be cool to legally be able to buy 33 round mags for my Glock instead of being forced to 10. I’d also stock up on AR mags if they lift the bans on pretty much every AR/ARP in existence as well.
Hey everyone,
I’m currently in the process of buying a house in Stamford and was wondering about the laws regarding target shooting on private property. If I own 2.5 acres, would I be allowed to target shoot on my land?
For context, I currently have a CCW in NYC and am planning to familiarize myself with Connecticut’s firearm laws. I want to make sure I’m following all local and state regulations before setting anything up.
If anyone has experience with this or knows where I can find official guidance, I’d really appreciate the insight. Thanks in advance!
Hey might be a dumb question but I’m about to buy my first pistol and I’m curious about how to store it . I live in a rental so bolting down a safe isn’t really an option. What are my options?
There are so many different choices out there. I'd like something reliable for range and home defense. Nothing more then $550.
Thanks!
Recently moved to CT from NY. Potentially moving back to NY by 2026. Are you able to purchase a long gun in CT with a NY ID? I would like one for home protection while I am here. The state website was vague and it seemed like one could, however reading online it seems otherwise. Thanks
I'm looking for a nice pocket pistol for concealed carry. Which do you recommend?
I'd like to be able to carry in an office, in the gym, or just a quick walk around the neighborhood.
Thanks
What’s the status of our Others? Has anyones forms actually been approved for the state after we submitted them like 1.5 years ago?? Can I legally bring mine to a range? If there was a recent thread on this I just didn’t find it in search and you can certainly point me to it! Thanks!
Any recommendations on shotguns with pistol grips or a arp to get that is fixed mag?
I have started to acquire a few rifles and shotguns with very nice wood on them. As my safe starts to get more crowded I worry about banging them up when I am taking things in and out. The easy answer is to buy a bigger safe but until we move in the near future that is going to be impossible. I was thinking about using socks to store them but I was always under the impression you shouldn’t store them in a sock of any sort. My basement is dry with dehumidifiers running all the time so I am not that worried about moisture. Any thoughts?
Wondering if anyone knows of any LGS with the prodigy 4.25 comp? I know Cabela’s does but didn’t know if anyone’s seen any under $1400 else where.
Has anyone seen any standard manufacturing lowers locally? I want to add one to my collection
Hey guys I’m trying to renew my pistol permit online but it keeps saying there’s no record of me in the system even though I’m typing in everything they need. Does anyone have a workaround for this?
Thanks in advance
I was just told that my local range wouldn't accept this lower and they claimed that most CT FFLs won't.
Are they right? Does anyone know an FFL that will accept it? I want to make a CT legal build but....can't do that if I can't get a lower.
