Dedicated to America's favorite rifle, and Ruger's most popular firearm, the venerable 10/22.

On a scale of "slapping it in a mount and eyeballing it" to "lapping the rings and using purpose made leveling kits", how are y'all going about mounting your scopes? At what distance does eyeballing it or using a plumb bob and a flashlight for leveling start to become a problem?
Hello everybody so I’m officially a part of the group I picked up my rifle today and to my surprise I actually read the stupid manual in the box only for the stickers of course and I did read I’m not supposed to shoot CCI stingers now with that being said, does that only count towards the factory barrel and bolt I do intend on putting a aftermarket bull barrel on it? If anyone has any experience, shooting stingers out of their 10/22 i’d love to hear the experience or I wanna know more thank you
Does anybody know of any good tripods for a .22
I may purchase one of the newer Magpul MOE X-22 stocks and will want to add a cheek riser if I do.
I already have two Matthew's Fabrication adjustable kydex risers and a fixed Victor Titan riser installed on wood stocks, but I've never installed any kind of riser on a plastic stock. For something like the Magpul, which I believe is completely hollow, would it make more sense to use one of the MF adjustable risers (which fasten horizontally through the stock and "clamp" down by tightening from the other side) or something like the Victor Titan riser (which requires you to drill straight down from the top)?
I assume the MF adjustable risers make more sense, since there's nothing for the screws to bite or fasten into with the top-down attachment method? My only concern with the adjustable riser is the potential to crack the stock by tightening the mounts too far.
Between the stainless and blued barrel: are the blued barrels decent enough? Any big issues?
Just got a 10/22 and looking at a Vortex Crossfire II for it, I'm just not sure which reticle would be best. I have not had a rifle before and just have iron sights on all my pistols and shotgun.
Looking at Deadhold BDC or V-plex. Kinda thinking of V-plex since I don't think I'll be shooting too far with a .22 and I am really just plinking at the range with this, nothing else. Does that sound logical for a scope?
Also, on Amazon, there is a 2-7x32 , 2-7x32 Rimeire, 2-7x32 Scout. The regular 2-7x32 and the Rimfire version each have the same reticle for V-plex, but the one on the Scout is slightly different for V-plex. I don't have to get the Rimfire version just cause it is going on a .22 right?
Was wondering if any of you fine human beings have managed to combine an optic setup like a prism scope or LPVO with cowitnessed iron sights on your backpacker!
Hey everyone,
I’m planning my first Custom Ruger 10/22 build and could use some advice from those of you with experience. I had purchased a 10/22 Takedown and done a few upgrades to it but am planning on selling it to a friend and building a new rifle for myself.
I've been looking for a good suppressor host and am still debating between a Bolt action, Handgun, or Semi-auto. (CZ457/T1x as I'm lefty, MKIV/TX22, or a 10/22) All of these seem like solid options and I cant go wrong but I figured id get opinions on a 10/22 build before I make any decisions.
Here’s what I’m considering so far:
I’d love to hear what’s worked (or not worked) for you, as well as any recommendations.
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to your input.
First post so here's my intro: I've been plinking with my mother's 10/22 for about a year (1973, a fun present from her dad on her 19th birthday), and have been reading, watching, and learning as much as I can about them since then.
I am deep-deep-deep into the rabbit hole, and therein lies my problem: I got too excited, and I talked too much. Now the rifle is suddenly "interesting" again, and I have to give it back!
Yes, I'm a 45y man whose mommy is taking his toy away...
It seems I have no choice but to kit a new one out for myself, so it's time to shop.
I want a stainless steel look to the receiver (or silver/clear anodizing, whatever), and while I can get that from Ruger, my inner "let's make it nice" voice wants to attack my bank account with something that's machined vs cast. I've looked at offerings from what seem to be common suppliers: S&P Outfitters (for something factory), Kidd, Tactical Solutions, Brownells, Volquartsen, Pike Arms, etc... and I'm noticing a weird pattern with many of the third party suppliers in the rear slope.
Why do so many of them have a high squared top end on the rear of the receiver? It seems that only Ruger and Kidd actually slope the rear of the receiver down to flow with where it meets the stock.
The sloped versions look much nicer to me, but so many of them go with the taller/squared look that there must be a reason. Can anyone enlighten me? It might change my perspective on them if that design serves a purpose.
I'm hoping it's something more complicated than "One early 10/22 manufacturer did that for no reason, and other companies cloned the clone instead of the original" :)
Thanks!
Setup / pic from Enoch industries. Just wanted to see if anyone knows the ir laser / sight setup! Thanks.
Mornin, Let's make it a good one.
Just got a 10/22 as my first rifle, and got the one without iron sights, with the intention of getting a scope for it.
Would there be any downsides to getting an AO scope with adjustable parallax to futureproof a bit in the event I get a more powerful bolt action down the road? Should I just get a cheaper crossfire rimfire? Looking at a 3-12 or 4-16x40 talos mil dot as the higher budget option. Can get the talos for about $150 + shipping.
Are there any other advantages to rimfire scopes aside from the 50yd preset parallax? Is 4-16x overkill for a 10/22?
Editing to add:
Main goal with all this is to improve marksmanship and learn. Might do an appleseed at some point, but probably just range shooting.
Thanks for your help. New to all this.
Im thinking a Kidd barrel but not sure what one, and they are expensive it seems. If you have other barrel suggestions lmk. I also am gonna need the whole inner parts and a nice trigger. Any suggestions y'all have would be amazing thanks everyone.
I'm curious when ruger changed the mag release button from a flush design to the now normal protruding one. My first gun was a 10/22(thanks dad) and I remember several years ago when I bought my first new one I was like oh cool they made this easier to use with the disgusting sticking out. Just curious when they changed that
Grabbed the Trek-22 stock from Desert Tech a couple years ago for my 10/22 and have not looked back. This thing is seriously awesome. Still shoots great despite being a bullpup conversion and is always a head turner at the range. Just upgraded to the Romeo7 optic a couple weeks ago…only plans now are a lighter 16” barrel and maybe a hand stop up front.
That is the question
Current configuration: Ruger receiver KIDD bolt KIDD charging handle KIDD guide rod KIDD 2 stage trigger KIDD mag release KIDD mag plunger KRG Bravo chassis Vortex precision rings Arken SH4 6-24x50 scope Grey Birch Solutions shred carbon fiber barrel Tandemkross brake
Planned for finish: KIDD receiver KiDD 18 or 20" barrel
Or KIDD Supergrade
Then put the old rifle this receiver came from back together.
Brand new 10/22 from Primary Arms for $199. Taking it for a spin tomorrow.
I recently bought a Franklin armory BFS3 for my 1022. After installing I came to the realization that it will only fire on release of the trigger in binary mode. Has anyone had this issue? It’s probably a 30 year old 10/22 that i decided to fix up.
