Dedicated to America's favorite rifle, and Ruger's most popular firearm, the venerable 10/22.

Started as a spare parts gun and quickly evolved. Brownells receiver, firefly subsonic bolt, tacsol takedown kit, etc. Stole the optic off my AR when I bought an LPVO for it, thus the cantilever mount.
I don’t know this rifle’s purpose.
Got a suppressor recently and I want to know what the cheapest threaded barrel I can get is and where I could find it. So far I’ve found the factory threaded barrel from ruger for 140 and a Shaw bull barrel from brownells for 110, but I’d have to get a new stock that fits a bull barrel for that. Is there anything Cheaper than these options or are those as good as it gets?
I’ve officially SBR’d my charger and want to move it over to the X-22. Can someone provide a measurement from the end of their barrel to the end of the stock? I’m looking to see if my suppressor will attach beyond the end of the front of the X-22.
I’m also looking to attach a TLR-1 HL-X. I’m thinking of drilling in a picatinny rail section, but if anyone has a better idea, let me know.
I know similar threads have been made (I’ve tried to read all of them) but I’m having a tough time deciding on which barrel to finish out my build. This is mostly for Appleseed type shooting as well as some light bench rest shooting up to 100 yards. I’ve currently got a Kidd trigger job kit, Armstrong precision 4-16x44 scope in a victor titan stock. I’m super happy with everything so far, just needing a new barrel to finish her out.
I’m stuck between an 18.5” acculite, or a Kidd light weight barrel. Realistically the threaded acculite comes in at $240 after shipping ($135 if I decide to skip threaded for now), and the threaded Kidd lightweight is right at about $300 with a discount code. I know the acculites are very well regarded, but all my reading has led me to wonder if it would almost be too light. As far as the Kidd, obviously the higher price is the main drawback, but I know ammo makes a huge difference. This rifle will probably receive a mostly steady diet of Cci standard velocity, would using this ammo in the Kidd barrel be akin to grounding up ribeye for hamburger helper? I do like the idea that if I decide I like more bench rest/precision style shooting down the road the Kidd would be a little more suitable to that type of shooting while still fulfilling my current wants/needs.
Wanting to use the rifle for off hand and positional shooting for appleseeds is what’s keeping me away from the other highly recommended budget options like green mountain or fedderson. If the extra weight wouldn’t be an issue feel free to tell me to just do some curls and buy a heavier barrel.
I’m hoping to get this communities thoughts on weather spending extra for the Kidd is worth the added accuracy, or if I should quit overthinking it and get the acculite and use the money saved on ammo. As always looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
Howdy all, Making some upgrades to my 10/22. First thing I want to address is the trigger assembly itself as I'm not a fan of the 6lb. pull. I've done some looking online and I'm facing analysis paralysis. I'd like to not spend $250 for a part on a gun that cost me $350. So can you guys help me narrow down trigger options?
Specifically:
If you guys could send me any recommendations that fit these requirements I'd be grateful.
Has anyone tried these? I had to return some BX25s.. am just looking for more reliable mags that have 25 rd capacity
I have a like new Magpul X-22 Backpacker Optic Mount for sale. It has been mounted to a rifle and had an optic mounted to it.
Edit: This is for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown model. I had it mounted while using the Magpul stock and forend. I do not think it fits the OEM Ruger forend.
Asking $40 shipped in the lower 48
I recently purchased a hogue .920 profile stock for my build. The build has a Feddersen fluted barrel, factory receiver, and a bx trigger. After taking it to the range, it seems to shoot a bit inconsistent. At 25 yards, I can hit almost the same hole but then randomly I’ll have a shot that hits 1 inch high. I’m thinking it could possibly be due to the flimsy stock pushing on the barrel. But does anyone have any other ideas it could be before I buy a different stock? Thanks.
Mostly at 50-100m
Sorry for the long drawn out post. Abridged version: looking for recommendations.
barrel? Debating between a 16.5 bull barrel (same length as this tapered) and 18/20 bull barrels? I plan to get a suppressor for it and from what I’ve gathered the difference between 16-20” barrel is minimal under 100yds. Which companies offer the best bang for the buck?
Is upgrading the entire bolt worth it? I polished mine and it seems to work great, saw some upgrade kits to replace the firing pin and extractors and springs, better to do that or that new new kidd or Volquartsen bolt?
Trigger group absolutely a need, looking at good ok volquartsen but open to recommendations.
The long story: I got this 22 the Good OL Fashioned way handed down from my grandfather probably 14 years ago, I’ve always been a big AR15 Fan and brought my 22 out with my 8YO and we had more fun shooting the 22 than I have had in YEARS of shooting the AR. (Not to mention the wonderful feeling of not blowing all the money for rounds)
Over the time we’ve been going to the range I’ve picked up some smaller things like the Hunter stock, a cheapy bipod, an upgraded bolt stud, charging handle and a scope (love the crossfire II 4-12x40 and my son loves the “sniper feel”)
Looking to get alittle more accuracy out of it, watched some YouTube videos and looked at other forums but this Reddit has time and time again giving me inspiration and insight so this is me reaching out to the community to get y’all’s opinions. The purpose for the upgrades is for plinking with my son and I might take it small game hunting if I can get the gun to shoot sub MOA at 50 yards (currently like 3/2 MOA depending on rounds)
I appreciate all of your posts and support!
I bought a Brownells railed receiver over the summer with the intention of setting it up for longer range work. Finished it out this week with a Brownells bolt, Shaw 16” barrel, Hogue overmold stock, Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16, and a TacSol radial compensator. The only Ruger part here is the BX trigger. Will shoot it this month and see how it runs.
So much fun... 300 rounds plus 50 on the Mark IV in an hour went by so fast. And I only had 2 mags (more arriving today).
CCI copper plated or standard velocity?
Some don’t like copper plated because of the deposits it leaves and being harder to clean…
Others say lead bullets tend to cause failure to feed.
I run both CCI CP and SV on my MarkIV and both are great. But for the 10/22 what’s the general consensus?
Hey! I purchased my first ruger 1022 today and it isnt optic ready (doesnt have the rail)
I want to purchase a rail system and an optic. Any advise? Or should i go with some rings?
I know nothing about rifle platforms other than the AR. Please be as detailed as possible
I have the crappy Tipton one but I’m looking to get a much better gun vise for mounting scopes . I’d be fine if it were designed just for that purpose as opposed to a multi function vise . What sayeth the community?
*edit: After input, changed from takedown option to normal carbine*
I would love some feedback with my line-up of parts for my first 10/22. I have a few other weapons and recently built an AR pistol, but the 10/22 has caught my eye. My budget is building it in less that 1k, which I am slightly over thanks to shipping/FFL fees.
Main components:
Receiver: Brownells stripped receiver, black - BRN-22R
Bolt: Brownells bolt assembly, stainless steel
Barrel: TacSol threaded fluted barrel, silver
Compensator: TacSol Compensator 22 Caliber 1/2-28, aluminum Silver
Trigger: BX-Trigger, black
Stock: Hunter X-22 adjustable stock, black
Charging handle: TK Spartan skeletonized charging handle, silver
Some bits and bobs for QOL and looks:
TacSol extended mag release, silver
TK Twister takedown knob
TK shockblock bolt buffer
TK receiver Krosspins
Let me know if you think anything would look or perform better than the parts.
Thanks!
If you have one does it run well in a Charger?
