I’m trying to mount a light to my SA58. I’d prefer not to mount it to the barrel, or swap the handguard. Are there any other options for mounting a light?
Anyone know of any 5rd mags available? I’m in need of a few for hunting?
I bought a century rebuild with a imbel lower about 1-2 years ago for 1k. I know century has a reputation with being not the best but I’ve also heard that if it is an imbel lower then it should be ok.
Just wanting to know if I should look into taking it apart and rebuilding myself (or a gunsmith) or if it’s ok.
It’s shot fine this entire time I’ve had it and is my favorite piece to shoot but just wanted some of y’all’s opinions.
Just recently bought a DSA arms FAL, figured I’d order a few steel mags from DSA and every single one I’ve put in my gun gets stuck. Stuck to the point where I have to take the gun almost completely apart and pop the spring out of the mag release to get it out. Anyone else have this problem and possibly have a solution? I guess I was wrong to assume the company that manufactured both the gun and magazine would have them be compatible.
Picked this up for $800 bucks from an estate sale old man had good taste oh
I'm probably going for either a DSA or the L1A1 clone I found that I made a post about here a couple days ago. I'm strongly looking into a Sig Romeo 7 for a Red Dot, if not then likely an Eotech 512 or 552. I haven't heard anything on it with any kind of 308 gun, so I'm asking here if the Romeo 7 would be good on a FAL when I get one.
Should I get a fixed stock or folding stock on a 21 inch?
Anyone need any l1a1 20 rounders? Getting rid of my FAL and have some extra mags I need to move.
I've been thinking for some time about trying to build a rifle in 358, a 16" barreled FAL with a bigger, less velocity dependant bullet sounds like a sweet little short range thumper to me. Given the adjustable gas system I don't really see why it shouldn't work, the only thing I can see needing to be changed is the bore and the chamber. Does anyone see any issues I've missed, and does anyone have any recommendations on where I could send a barrel to be rechambered? I appreciate if you've read this far, and thank you in advance for any advice or criticism.
Everywhere online says that a Suppressor gas plug is needed to Suppress the FAL, if not you will over gas the gun and cause damage. Damage to what I am not sure as I have not been able to find concrete evidence, pictures, write ups or even first hand accounts of broken parts from suppressing the FAL with the factory gas plug.
Theoretically could the factory adjustable gas block not bleed off enough gass in the max open position just as an adjustable gas block does on an AR-10. ( such as rifle speeds gas block). ( yes I know Gas impingement VS Piston gas systems) If the factory block cannot bleed off enough what parts would be stressed? Gas piston? Bolt? Carrier? Carrier tail?
If the rifle cycles fine in normal gas settings but won't cycle with the gas block all the way open (undergassed) I dont see how adding a surpressor would "Dangerously" overgas the gun with the block all the way open.
Hello everyone!
Straight to the point; I'm looking at picking up an SA58 from DSA, and turning it into my every day naildriver. The kind of gun I take to the range, the occasional coyote hunt, and the go-to in case something unprecedented happens. I'm not even close to being an apocalypse-level prepper, but I'd rather be prepared to some degree than none.
From my understanding, the SA58 is dead reliable, versatile, packs a heavy punch, can reach out quite a bit if you need it to, but is still usable close range. I have also read it's very comfortable to shoot and offers a good amount of modularity.
Many would maybe see it as a niche pick considering you can build a nice AR for the same price, but I can't help but feel drawn to the SA58. My main concern is the fact that it is an old system, the every day usability of 7.62x51mm might not be great, and it just may not be the smart option in this case.
I just wanted to pick the brains of the experts and see what you guys think! My plan would probably be a 16" with an eventual suppressor down the line to keep the weight down (I know she is heavy, so trying to do what I can), LPVO with a canted RDS, and then finishing it off with a light and a PEQ.
Are these guns supposed to be kept as toys, or are they capable of being that dependable SHTF-esque tool?
Got less than 40 rounds total fired because of malfunctions and needing to leave before it started getting dark. Three mags I used were the standard polymer mag, new dsa steel 20 rounder, and the dsa 5 rounder. None of them worked well, and the steel 20 rounder was worst out of the bunch. Currently going about the chore of removing rounds from it by hand. The issues were all failure to feed, it extracted just fine, but some brass had some gouge marks along the side. It looked like the rounds wanted to ram into the front end of the mag or just below the chamber. Some were sticking at about a 45 degree angle from the mag towards the chamber. Some rounds I could get to feed by letting the bolt slide forward a time or two, others I wasn’t so lucky and just induced a double feed. Ammo used was Igman .308. Surprisingly accuracy was okay. Any suggestions? Hoping the problem is just a dogshit mag situation, I’d rather not have to send it to DSA multiple times hoping it gets fixed.
Does anyone have any experience with these? Was thinking about putting one on my DSA SA58 but don’t want to add too much length. Mine has an 18in barrel. Do these thread on halfway in like the Belgian style muzzle devices?
