In case anyone hasn't realized, I am just duplicating the threads I post on NWFA. Sorry if this is a bother to anyone.
Customer brought in a Romanian PSL-54c. From the factory, these come with a muzzle brake that is pressed on and pinned in place. No threads. The customer wanted the brake removed and threads added so he could run a Wolverine suppressor.
The brake wasn't too much trouble to pull off. In addition to field stripping, I also removed the front sight and the stock. I then got the barreled action chucked in the lathe. 4 jaw, steady rest, and live center. This method yields functional threads. They are not as concentric as they would be if the barrel had been removed and stripped. But they will still be better than most of the barrels that leave come from combloc factories, and definitely better than if they were cut with a die.
The Prototrak lathe is unable to thread LH threads in a conventional sense, so I had to use a LH single point threading tool upside-down on the tool post, and then run the spindle in reverse. It works, but it's a bit odd at first. After machining and unloading from the lathe, the front sight went back on with no issues.
Aside from the unfinished steel and the leftover groove from the pin holding the muzzle brake, it now looks like it left the factory with threads. The customer already has a KNS adjustable piston installed, so I assume this will end up a pretty sweet shooter.
I did just receive an update from the customer that he mounted his Omega 300 and had perfect alignment.
I see some people saying you can and some saying you can't so I'm trying to figure it out. Edit I mean the public range by mount hood.
Located in SE Portland, going to head out shooting in the next few days with some friends and want to stock up on some 9mm and 38 special (for the suppressed lever action).
Everywhere I'm looking has no deals or stock, and my go-to BiMart is OOS of most things.
Where is a decent place to get a few hundred rounds of 38sp and 9mm, locally?
"Do you have any charges pending in any court resulting from any citation or arrest"
Would my stupid ass camera speeding ticket from a few months ago count? My day to appear is in April.. Is that a pending charge? I know traffic citations aren't criminal but it says "any" court and "any" citation
So Washington apparently has a lot of gun ban laws. Is it just buying? Can I bring them to ranges in Vancouver?Like I saw threaded barrels were banned. So my gf threaded 22 semi pistol is ban? Would we get in trouble for taking it to a range in Vancouver?
I just purchased my third Canik, the MC9. I want to replace the front sight and heard that they are a pain on the Canik. I would like to attempt it myself but what I can’t find is if there is a certain direction they need to be pushed out from. Does anyone know which direction you should go to remove the front sight or does it matter? I read there is a slight taper. I’ve watched as many videos as I could find and some went from left to right and some went right to left. Thanks
Visiting my family in Portland around Christmas and was curious if there’s a range that doesn’t require membership. Where I live there’s an outdoor range that just has a $5/person use fee, so that’s kinda the type of thing I was hoping for. Obviously the cost might be higher.
Edit: I’d mostly be bringing rimfire rifles and possibly an SKS. Probably looking for an outdoor range with cover.
Going through the process of ordering a Garand through the CMP. One of the requirements for Oregon is a copy of the dealers FFL license being sent with the form.
Does anybody have any dealer recommendations that provide a copy of their FFL?
Or has anybody had another way to provide the CMP this info? Thank you!
Had a background check for a pistol approved in 2 hours. First time ever approved same day.
Any recommendations for laser engraving a SBR in SE Portland / Happy Valley
Thanks
I swear I used to be able to renew online - Got an email stating that I need to drive 45 minutes to the washington county sheriff's office to renew. Of course, they have the most convenient business hours of 9-3 monday - Thursday. It's almost like they dont want you to have a CHL....
Hello everyone.
Recently moved to the area from Texas. Can I please get some recs for FFL’s with decent transfer fees for online orders? Willing to travel 30ish minutes outside of town if the fees are significantly lower. I’m in St. John’s if that helps.
I’m used to paying a $25 to $50 fee on the higher end in DFW. What is the average transfer fee here in Portland area?
Thanks everyone!
Went and bought a .22 totally slipped my mind to ask the guy at the shop, he seemed like he was new there
in store only black friday sale
This may be a silly question, but I’ve tried reading up on measure 114 and I can’t tell. Is the mag ban in effect?
If not, can someone point me in the direction of a brick and mortar between Portland and Sandy to get a good deal on Glock mags?
I like to support local businesses and figured this is as good of a place as any to do so. Helix 6 barrels makes carbon fiber wrapped rifle barrels and they are out of Vancouver wa. Their barrels are unique in which if you want to shorten the barrel you can have it cut and rethread, unlike other carbon fiber barrels. I have no affiliation. Just love their product. This is my rifle build.

Just wanted to share some appreciation for J&B Firearms and their gunsmith u/ProceonLabs
I had bought an SRO to replace my 507c. The guys at Jagerwerks over torqued it so I nearly stripped the screws trying to replace it myself.
Emailed JB and got a quick response so I made the 40 min drive over, and I was in and out in 10 mins with the optic replaced for $35. The guys are always quick to provide service and they asked and dry fired my P10C about my serration cuts.
While I was over, I overhead another customer seeing if they had any 12ga snap caps, they didnt have any in stock so they ordered some more and gave the customer the shop-owned one free of charge.
I've been a loyal customer over there since BM114 since they were one of the first ones to start releasing firearms under the 3 day release. They got a wide side selection, tons of red dots, silencershop kiosk, and a gunsmith. It's my one stop shop for all things firearms.
So I want to buy a dagger from psa but I’ve never bought a gun online before and was wondering about a couple things. For one, can I buy one with a threaded barrel in Oregon? I’m having trouble finding a good answer on that and curious alongside that about how cautious you have to be about what you buy or if it just varies depending on the site. For the shipping process it sounds like you just find an ffl to have it shipped to but is there anything I should be aware of any advice or anything
Im looking at buying the P365xFuse but I’m curious if anyone here has one and their thoughts. I’d also like to shoot it before I buy it and would be down to organize a range day if someone has one and would let me shoot theirs. I have a few guns of my own and would be down to shoot them together also. I’ll buy the ammo! Thanks.
Needing a new safe. At least a 30 rifle 60 minute fire rating.
Looking for .45 long colt specifically for my pops new Henry rifle.
Just hoping to get him hooked up for his big 7-0th birthday next week!
Any brands ya'll really prefer would be a bonus as well!
Hello fellow shooters! I just moved in from out of state to Southern Oregon and am heading out as soon as the weather clears up to find a couple shooting spots out on BLM land (OnXHunt app is a godsend).
My question is whether or not the steel targets I brought with me are allowed to be shot at on public land during the off season. My understanding is that they are not allowed during fire season, but not sure if it's year round or not. If anyone knows off the top of their head that would be a big help. Nothing quite beats a good DING that you can only get from steel.
Hi guys, moved to the vancouver wa area and would like to go shooting, originally from a small town where we could just drive down the dirt road behind our house and shoot, more complicated here in a big city. would prefer not to shoot at a range and be outdoors, let me know. thanks :)
I bought a Franklin Binary trigger kit for my AR earlier this year. There is a slight amount of slop when I have the safety selector set to safe, enough to drop the hammer. Anyone else experienced this? I reached out to them and they had me RMA. I just got the kit back and they said they replaced the sear spring, sent me a new hammer and have tested this in a milspec lower dry firing and ran 60 rounds of live and had no problems. I put the "remanufactured" trigger back in, following all safety and installation instructions and am producing the same result. My rifle will fire on safe which is unsafe lol.
Hey all, was wondering if there are any recommendations for where to go shooting on BLM land or other out of the way areas? I know all the general rules, be safe in knowing where you are shooting, be respectful, leave the area better than you found it. But I am new to the area and looking for recommendations for outdoor areas where we can go plinking. Thanks in advance!
