A place for Marylanders to discuss any and all things firearms related.
Welcome to Maryland Guns!
This is a place for everything firearms related except selling/trading/offering. We survive in the oppressive state of Maryland.
Copycat Weapon Criteria and List of Banned Firearms
The Weapons Safety Rules:
Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
Never point your weapon at anything you don’t intend to shoot.
Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
Keep your weapon on safe until you intend to fire.
Posting Rules:
Absolutely no buying/selling/trading/lending of any kind.
We're here not only to discuss but to educate; because users may not have seen previous posts, we highly encourage re-posts rather than forbid them, but recommend waiting at least a week before re-posting.
There is no such thing as a stupid question. Ask away.
Any and all content goes in this sub as long as it is related to firearms and not an advertisement.

Can I travel from a neighboring state to a MD gun range with non-compliant mags? What about an AR?
From what I can tell, the mags are fine to possess, just want to be sure. Can leave the AR behind if that’s an issue.
Hi, I have an mp5k that is registered SBr in WV. Was wondering if I can submit 5320.20 and bring that to Maryland shooting ranges?
It's an mp5k with OAL 23"
I would like to own a pistol but not sure where to start exactly to get one and what order of steps to go in.
I am a MD resident. I have taken a basics of pistol shooting class with a certified instructor but it was in VA and only 8 hrs. I am certain that should qualify me for a HQL in MD (instructor is qualified in MD for HQL) but not a wear & carry.
I took the class back in 2022. I haven’t been in a rush until now to get my permit. What steps should I take now to get the HQL & wear and carry permit?
Also, Am I allowed to purchase a pistol currently in VA if I completed the class?
The laws and rules can be so confusing so I’d appreciate if someone like explain them better. Thanks.
Looking for a carry renewal class from my MD an DC permit. Preferably in the Frederick or Hagerstown area. Suggestions?
Looking for a shop that will block those scary “Hi CaPaCiTy” mags in or around the Lothian area. My local store in Dundalk used to do it, and whenever I’d get a handgun in from a free state, they would be able to call the shop to get confirmation, then send the gun and stock mags there. Recently moved down south, so I’m looking for a local place that will do the same if possible. TIA.
I have a King Python where the locking bolt/cylinder locking pawl is not engaging, turning this beautiful specimen into an overgrown and ungainly hammer.
Field service has failed to address this issue, so I'd like to give it over to a decent and relatively local gunsmith so I can get back to using this as it was intended.
Any recommendations?

Here is a YouTube link from armed scholar giving a good background and updates. 29 other states Or something close to that number signed on to agree that the Maryland assault weapons ban is unconstitutional.
I am kind of surprised with this action since it’s our second time in front of the Supremes on this matter, anybody else have any input
Anyone have a lower repaired or replaced through warranty? Anderson said to ship it to them and they were repair or replace it if there's any issues. If they replace it and send it to me with a new serial number, are there any issues with that?
Just got my ccw renewal application approved; realized i forgot to input references in the application for the renewal. Still got approved. Anyone else done this or do they just not care for references on renewals since they probably checked them on the inital application on your first ccw?
How would I go about getting a background check if a rifle is being transferred to my ownership?
Anyone know any gun shops in Harford Co that stock the Walther PDP? A couple I have contacted do not stock it.
My buddy took a W&C course but then issues cane up where he didn’t do fingerprints or photo or submit application.
So if it’s been a year maybe year and half since course can he still apply or another class required? Thanks.
I want to learn to shoot but im not sure where to start. Can anyone recommend a place for a firearms class+getting a license? Also are there any gun stores with a range that let you try out some guns to get a feel for what type you want to go with? My experience up until this point has been entirely bolt action rifles.
Why? God why? Why do 95% of the gun shops here suck ass? Most of them don't even know the laws and make shit up.
You got shops that won't sell handgun magazines to people without an HQL. PCC owner? Yeah you're screwed.
Shops that are out here charging $70 for 20rds of .303 British.
Shops that won't sell C&R pistols to people without an HQL, even though MD law says you're exempt. There's LITERALLY even an HQL exemption box you tick on the MD77R.
Shops that think the ban list is the end all be all.
This place is a shit show when it comes to the FFLs. I've legit only found two GOOD stores here in this state, and I've even been to some of the highly regarded ones on the eastern shore.
Duffys and Tyler's. These guys are awesome.
Is there anyone in Baltimore county area that’s reliable that can reload according the Hornady black 105gr 6ARC specs
Friend and I want excuses to buy suppressed Ruger MkIVs. Are there any competitions around for em that we can use to justify silly purchases?
I have a RPK style Romanian rifle called AES 10B. I bought it years ago as a Florida resident while in the military. I am now planning up move back to Maryland, what modifications do I have to do to make it MD compliant. is it too much of a hassle to do or should I sell it before moving back? Currently live in Alabama, not in the armed services so no deferral.
My spouse is interested in .357 snub nosed, and wants to take the aforementioned Taurus 650 out for a spin. I'm not quite sure if the MD roster entry for the CIA 650 includes modern variants?
I'm also curious as to any public ranges that have a snubbie .357 for rent, ideally the 640, so said spouse can get a feel for it.
Thanks in advance!
I want to purchase a .300 blackout SBR with a barrel of 8 to 9 inches. I must get approved by the ATF and fill out form 4, but does the SBR have to be 29 inches long? I went to my local gun store, and they told me that as long as I get approved by the ATF, the 29-inch overall length won't matter. It only matters to rifles that aren't registered under the ATF. My main question is if I purchase an SBR, fill out form 4, and get approved, does it still need to be 29 inches overall, even though I am registered with the ATF as an SBR?
I’ve noticed there seems to be at least one distributor with terrible quality data on the MD handgun roster. In this case, the Walther WMP and PPQ .22LR, both of which are clearly on the roster, are listed as “cannot ship to MD” on the 10-round mag SKUs from a couple of out-of-state FFLs.
I’m mostly just complaining here, anyone ever had luck getting a distributor to fix their listing? I mean, yes, the roster changes but dealing with it once a quarter when you add new releases seems like a pretty low bar.
What’s up everyone, lurked through the sub and found some guidance for serializing a printed lower but it was quite old and I know how things can change here so I’ll ask again.
How can I legally print and own a 3dp AR15 lower receiver. From my understanding I need to serialize and register it within 30 days of manufacture? Using a metal plate basically recessed into the lower.
Basically I manufacture, get it serialized by a ffl? Do I need to fill out some paper work if so where and how? Can I find it online from some Maryland govt database?
Resources you all have used for 3dp your own firearms? Places that worked with you with a 3dp?
To be clear, I have not manufactured anything yet and don’t plan to until I have a plan to get it done legally. I do not want to have anything to do with something so silly that can be done legally.
I'm Asking for a friend of a friend, whose moving to MD, if a non-md compliant AR-15 (Aero precision X-15 lower) (unknown upper) can be made compliant with a Heavy Barrel swap or and upper swap, before or after he moves to MD.
Thanks for the info.
I was banned for expressing opinions about buybacks.
I guess it's easier to ban someone than engage in reasonable discourse. Read ANY of my comments, the moderator is trying to create an echo chamber with the ban.
Has anyone been to the Precision Point range in Frederick? I saw an ad for them and their prices are very reasonable in my opinion. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences there? Thanks
If I were shopping for a concealed carry piece, which MD gun stores have the best selection to browse?
If I need to be specific, who has the best selection of concealed carry revolvers?
