Wear and Carry Renewal Timeline

I just put in my renewal application for the west and carry. How long is it taking MDSP to issue the renewal?

Also, if my current permit expires while my applications is in process I assume I won’t be able to carry until the new permit arrives?

Convicted felon with restoration of firearm rights

Good morning,

My family and I are thinking of moving to Maryland from Virginia . In my young adult life I was convicted of two non violent class 6 felonies . With that being said they were drug related, non violent and two year probation. Fast forward a few years I married with 3 wonderful children, I have my voting rights restored, I received my restoration of firearm rights, ccw and an armed security license . With that being said what’s the chance of Maryland allowing me to own firearms? I great appreciate any advise and appreciate you taking the time to read the post.

*note not seeking legal advise, only opinions .

M1a at MD Range

I understand the m1a is on the banned list. If I have a friend from a neighboring state, who owns an m1a, come up for the day and shoot at a range with me, is he allowed to bring that rifle in to MD just for range use? Is this stated anywhere explicitly on thr MSP site? Thanks in advance!

Can I convert a blackpowder revolver under the age of 21

Hi, Im currently under the age of 21, meaning I cant use handguns, so that got me wondering, could I use a blackpowder revolver, buy a cylinder to use cartridges and still be able to shoot it? Or would that be breaking the law? If not, can I still get a blackpowder revolver under the age of 21 because it is still a handgun but it seems blackpowder firearms arent really considered "firearms"? Black powder sounds fun either way.

Sig parts locally?

I’m considering adding a manual safety to a P365X Macro Comp, but not crazy about the shipping fees from Sig for such a small part. Anybody have recommendations for where to get parts like that locally (anywhere between Baltimore and Frederick)?

Would this rifle be legal in Maryland

So to get this going, I am 18 and looking to purchase a rifle. I wanna start to get into it and going to the range with some buddy’s but I can’t find a particular rifle that would be one LEGAL, and in budget. Ik Maryland has the rule that all ar-15s after 2013 have to have a HBAR barrel. And Ik most 300. blk have a HBAR but I wasn’t to sure. The link to the specific rifle will be below. I wanted to get some people who are more educated and experienced than me to help me out.

Some basic training suggestions? (Not HQL or WCP yet)

My FIL will be moving to Maryland in the coming months, and as a longtime gun enthusiast, I’m sure he’ll be looking to take my older teenage daughters to a range to have some fun. I’ve never been a gun owner, and have very limited experience, but I’m happy to support his hobby and might see myself enjoying it as well?

Anyway, I’d be much more comfortable starting by getting some practical experience/training. I see a lot of options for HQL/WCP courses, but I’m not sure that’s the first step I’m looking for. I’d be interested in some hands-on basics (safety & shooting), maybe a bit with rifle and a bit with pistol, although I’m very open to recommendations.

I’m in MoCo (Olney area). Any recommendations for first steps for a total newbie?

Thanks!

Permit carry in stores with/without signage

Anyone able to cite the laws relevant to CCW w/a permit in stores and malls where an individual store may own the property? Also curious about one place in a mall I frequent where some of the entrances to that store have signage but other entrances to it do not.

Don’t See An Option To Renew HGP.

I’m on the portal and I see an option to start a new HGP, MG, or HQL, but no where to renew. Am I supposed to just start a new application?

Advice on FN 15 Guardian vs S&W M&P 15 Sport III

Looking to get a MD compliant AR. I've mostly narrowed it down to the two above, but looking to get some advice/reviews on these two (or others). Looking to stay under $1k, as this is my first AR. MDSP website lists the FN as being compliant (36-100740), and S&W now has a heavy barrel option (13953).

Anyone own?

Moving to MD from NC in the spring and was wondering if anyone owned a IWI Zion without having to swap parts since it technically has a heavy barrel. It's on the list as OK, but I know that the list is not accurate by any means. Just wanted to check and see before I buy a hbar marked barrel

257 Roberts

I've been on the hunt for a Remington 700 257 Robert's. Preferably one that's used and not abused. I want to hunt with it I don't want a safe queen.

Anyone know of any FFLs in MD or close (I'm in Western MD) that may have one available?

My background check on my first purchase came back as “delayed”. Something about Brady’s law or Brady’s date?

I've never heard of this before and was told that rifles are cash and carry. The guy put my info into his laptop and we waited for like 20 minutes for the background check to come back and it eventually came back as "delayed" and said they have to do more checking. Is this because they found something off with my info or something?

Maryland HQL question

Hey everyone I was wondering if it is true that if you had previously taken a hunter safety course you were exempt from the 4 hour HQL lesson and could apply for the permit. I know that you guys are probably sick of HQL questions so sorry to add to it but thank you for any help!!

Legality of backpack gun?

Wondering if it is legal to carry an AR pistol in a backpack (concealed) with a MD HGP?

I know it’s not a great idea (to say the least!). Was just curious about the legality of it.

Maryland trying to delay, delay, DELAY............

The AG & Wes Moore & the MGA are relentless.......... They're NOW trying to delay S.C.O.T.U.S. from hearing the Snopes case.

However, I BELIEVE "WE the PEOPLE" will win 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

Mark Smith at 4 Boxes has his full analysis 👍

MMCC Hunting Rifle Question

I cancelled my MMCC (MD medical cannabis card) today as I do not use it and want to start hunting. I understand that I won't be able to purchase a handgun for a year after this cancellation. Does this apply to hunting rifles? Is there a way around it?
