I was approved for two handgun permits, but can't decide what to buy first

Long time lurker here that finally was notified my permits are approved and will be emailed in the next 2 weeks. My first handgun (not firearm) is where I am having trouble being decisive.

I am absolutely set on owning a Canik Mete SF based on my experience shooting Caniks and it is the perfect size for my hands.

My problem is that I can't decide on my second handgun! Or better yet, I can't decide between what I really want and what is a fiscally better decision.

I was originally going to get a 22 range toy to offset some of the costs of ammo and to give me more range time. The heritage Rough Rider was a natural choice because I love the idea of owning a SAA and its affordable. I'm a big fan of cowboy guns and it would be a nice range toy to take out every weekend or so.

I have also considered the Taurus tx22, as it has a close silhouette to the Canik and would be easy to transfer training between the guns.

My decision flipped upside down when I visited my LGS and held a Uberti Cattleman in 45LC. It was love at first sight. I was seriously enamored by the feel, the sounds, and the style of the revolver. I have found a version that comes with two cylinders, taking both 9mm and .357/.38spl that would be much more affordable than 45LC but is obviously a lot more expensive than shooting 22.

In addition, the gun is seemingly in extremely short supply and is only in stock in two online stores. With taxes, NICS, shipping, and transfer fees, it will come out to likely over 800 dollars.

I love the Cattleman. I want it. I can feel it in my hands as I am typing this. I had assumed I would buy the Canik first, but there's the possibility the Uberti will go OOS and will be impossible to find in the 9mm/.357 combo that already is nearly intangible.

I need some advice y'all: Do I go with my heart and buy the only gun i've felt almost romantically attracted to first, go with my gut and buy the Canik first and a 22 next month, or do I use my brain and buy the Canik first and reevaluate my options after?

Couple questions on the NJ FARS timeline

I submitted my app electronically on 5/3. My fingerprints were done on 5/6 and both referrals (from good friends, no issues) were done on 5/8.

Spoke on the phone to someone at Identogo yesterday, 5/15, to see what the status is and they said the prints were sent to NJSP. My local PD (Hoboken) says they haven’t received anything yet.

Is it normal for NJSP to take this long to do a background check?

Is there some way to contact NJSP to (respectfully) ask what the hold up is?

Is it safe to put a lighter trigger on my carry?

Is it worth it and safe to do so for carrying? Or would it be best to keep the oem trigger on it?

Issue with pistol purchase permit execution

First off, sorry for the long winded post…. Wondering anyone has ever had an issue like this and how did you resolve it…. My wife had her FID card and a single open pistol permit, we got married and she did her name change, we changed her name and applied for another pistol permit and received both. She went to the gun store and purchased a new Glock she liked. They filed the nics check and said they would call in a few days as usual. 3 days later they call and say nics came back clear no issues so they went ahead and executed the pistol permit. Well herein became the issue. Her nics was approved in her married name but somehow the permit executed was one in her maiden name. So now there’s a damn mismatch and the gun store can’t release the gun because of the name issue. They told me to call my local pd and explain the issue, they were just as dumbfounded as I am and the gun store is. How the hell does this get fixed? Anyone have any insight?

CCW renewal, the end of the year, I will have to renew my CCW permit

At the end of the year, I will have to renew my CCW permit. Anyone know the guidelines yet? Like how earlier you can renew or have to requalify or do fingerprints and such.

PTC approved….only took 96 days and 2 emails: New Milford (Bergen County)

Well, I finally received my PTC today after 96 days. I emailed one of the detectives two weeks ago and he gave me the email and number of the detective handling licensing. I emailed that detective 3 days ago, and received my permit today. Did not hear back from detective yet, but don’t need to.

This was for New Milford, Bergen County

Applied for FIB and carry permit three months ago. Still processing

I hope someone can help here as the police are not responding to my requests for updates. I took my class back in February and applied for both shortly after. One officer handles the FID, and a detective handles the carry permit. After four months, my FID is almost done, but the detective has yet to respond to any of my requests for the carry permit.

Would anyone know what I can do here?

NJ Firearm Registration Law and Dual Residency

I have a question about NJ's firearm registration requirements that went into effect for new residents after 02/01/23.

I’ve been a resident of NJ long before this law came into effect. Additionally, I am a dual resident of another state where I often purchase firearms while residing there. For the sake of argument, let's assume my dual residency is fully confirmed with the necessary government documentation, allowing me to purchase firearms in both states.

If I buy a firearm out of state and then bring it into NJ with the intent to keep it here, am I required to register that firearm in NJ despite having been a continuous NJ resident since before 02/01/23? Or does the registration requirement only apply to those who became NJ residents after the law went into effect?

Thank you in advance for your comments!

What do we do if one of our references for our carry permit dies between submitting the application and the police contacting them? Wait it out or withdraw the application?

NJ HK MP5 'others' and 'how's question regarding original 'MP5' markings

Question for those who have done a HK 'other' or 'aow' build in NJ:

Do the original HK 'MP5' markings have to be removed as part of an 'other' or 'aow' build?

I understand that the MP5 is banned by name, does this stand true for when remanufactoring a build?

Not So Period Correct Retro Build

I’ll eventually swap the pistol grip and stick but for now, can’t wait to zero and take it to a class.

Not bad for a budget build. Sub 1K not including the optic.

+4 base pad extension on a factory 10 round magazine…

If the mag is already crimped on the sides and is a factory 10 round magazine, any problem putting a longer base pad (+4 for example)?

Would have to put in a new spring as well since it’s a longer bottom, so my question is about legality of it, not about if it would work.
