I saw this building being worked on for quite a while, drove by in the last couple of days and there's a ginormous Silencer Shop sign on the building. Anybody have any information on what they're putting here (offices, retail, ....)?
I'm from out of state, but I'll be visiting family in Austin all next week. I collect muzzleloaders, and I have to buy my stuff online. Given Texas is gun country, I'm wondering if there's a store where I can go look at stuff in person? Stuff like cartridge boxes, musket slings, percussion revolver holsters, gun belts, flints, cleaning kits, bayonets, repair tools, cartridge making kits, all that kinda stuff. Is there some sorta place loaded with these things where I can go browse them?
Anyone have any cool .22 rifles?
Who is the austin area sells gear like used ballistic helmets? I'm looking for a (preferably large) ACH or similar.
I’m sorry to have to ask this. But I inherited a bunch of firearms that I’m slowly offloading. Problem is, my current FFL shop really sucks about the whole “shipping” thing. Anybody have luck with a FFL shop that will ship for third party sales, i.e. easy, quick, reasonable price, and communicative?
No dudes doing it out of their houses please.
My core group of friends aren’t much of the outdoorsy type despite my best efforts, so I’m trying to find people or places where I can meet people that like hunting and shooting.
Little about me: 31, hunted my whole life. We have some family land in north-east Texas where we go after waterfowl, pigs and deer. Not a huge public land person but would be down to try it. As for shooting I’m getting into the pistol/carbine training more and more.
Hard to find like minded people in austin (of all places in Texas), but worth a shot.
Appreciation post. First time there - went for FFL transfer and stayed for the guns. They are LOADED with high end guns. I’m still learning and Zi was super knowledgeable and friendly. Will buy a suppressor from them next - eyeing a HUXWRX can there that’s lowest I’ve seen anywhere
I'm considering getting my first two guns. Likely a handgun and a rifle. I've shot before but never owned guns. Reading online people suggest trying a few different things out before purchasing but I'm not sure the best way to do this. Is there a place where I can try out a few different models before buying?
New duck hunter. Have been having some luck on walk in hunts. Using YouTube to learn calls but it’s much better if you work with someone and they can hear you and give tips ext. Happy to $$ or drinks on me to meet to for a “lesson”
Coming to Austin for a bachelor party in May with about 20 guys. We want to go to a shooting range while there. Any recommendations for ranges that would accommodate such a large group at once?

Anyone know any local places that may commonly store uncommon items like 7.5 x 55 (GP11) Swiss?
All my friends I hunt with have private land and it’s in their hands when it’s convenient or not.
I’ve gotten some good solo public duck walk in spots where I’m having luck at and am very new to duck hunting.
I like archery primarily hogs, access to lease east of Austin, but it’s again temperamental.
Looking for some hunting buds to go on missions see what we can lean or where we can go. Planning a public walk in duck hunt on the coast by end of season, and a solo javelina glass and stalk in west Texas mid January or February.
I’m 36, I’d say amateur Hunter, but I am obsessed. Looking for Bud’s that want to get outside!

Anyone seen good ammo sales in Austin stores?
Hi, I was wondering if there were any Staccato pistol owners in here.
I am looking into getting a C or C2 for concealed and XC but would really like to test them out. I know Staccato has an event in Houston next saturday but would like to see if anyone was local had one.
Buying the wife a .38 special for our anniversary and I want to get a custom leather holster that fits it perfectly. Any local suggestions? If not local then where? TIA
Academy has a few deals, but mostly junk guns (no offense, just IMO)

I have a 1860s 32-20 that needs some love. Any suggestions on who can help?
Looking for recommendations for pawn shops or consignment dealers where I might find some interesting deals.
I'm in the Georgetown area. Looking to do some Christmas shopping.
Do any of y’all have experience with sheepdog response? are the classes worth what you learn there I was going to take the trauma course as a just incase thing.
Another question do y’all have insurance incase something happens and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
New to the Subreddit but been browsing gun forums for years (off reddit).
I used to bring my guns to McBrides for gunsmithing, before their gunsmith started having horrible hours and not fulfilling work.
Then i went to Sportsmans finest for a while, until i found out Blackjack had done all the work instead. I tried Watermark arms recently, but found out they also contract their work to Blackjack.
Why is there so much hate here? Ive been to Blackjack and theyve been recommended by most other gun stores in the area. Why is there so much hate? Ive had such a great experience with them for the last year and a half. I haven't encountered any of the issues anyone has experienced and it seems like people gatekeep them away here.
Genuinely curious why theres only like a hand-full of people advocating against the friendliest and easy gun store to work with IMO.
