Anyone know of a shoot house? I wanna get better at cqb and see if there's one around here
Is there anywhere you guys like to purchase/sell/trade parts? I’ve been browsing utahgunexchange and curious if there was any where else out there local.
Hey y’all, I just moved to Utah County and would love to hear what everyone’s favorite FFLs and instructors are in the area.
For FFL’s, I’d love to know who has the best combo of cheap transfer fees and good service (I’d rather pay a $30 transfer to someone who processes it quickly than $20 to someone who sits on it for days after it arrives). Also looking for who has a good value for NFA transfers.
Would also love to know who has a good selection of inventory on hand at not absurd prices.
And then also curious to hear who everyone’s favorite instructors are for classes. I know there are a lot of instructors out here, mostly looking for who you’ve enjoyed for more advanced stuff mostly around rifle and/or pistol. Willing to travel further out for good instructors too!
Hi friends. I've re-opened this subreddit as it was previously set to restricted by the previous moderator for some unknown reason.
I've add a single rule (so the sub doesn't get banned) so far, but overall looking forward to getting the discussions in this sub moving again.
Let's look back at some memorable moments and interesting insights from last year.
Your top 10 posts:
I have a Heritahe Rough Rider with a 16" barrel. There is this guy who has rendered and freely available files to print this neat looking stock and forend. The only issue is that the only 3D printer I have access to is a super cheap tiny printer that can't handle the length of this print. Does anyone here have a printer that could handle something approximately 12" long? I will add a link in comments.
What local NFA dealers are having success with the new eforms with silencer shop. I've heard it's been pretty dealer dependent on whether the system is working for them or not. Looking to pick up a couple this month and wanted to make sure I go with a dealer that has the new system figured out.
Where's a good place to buy 5.56 in Utah County since I want to go shooting this weekend and I don't want to wait for an online order?
Moving out to the Silver Lake area soon and I see SO MUCH LAND with lots of trails and folks on dirt bikes and such past the land by the temple. Is place close by that we can go shooting at? Thanks!
Starting point for reference: 40.362147, -111.963814
I was looking at the BLM maps for shooting and it looks like there is an area close to the start of Butterfield Canyon in Herriman. The map didnt show it was closed to shooting but signs over there say no discharge of firearms. Does anyone know? If closed is the closest place for target practice either west side of Utah lake or out past grantsville?
We are looking for a combination class for the the Utah CFP + pistol breakdown/build + handling and shooting.
Is there such thing around SLC?
Was wanting to post some places here for everyone to see. Ammoseek has been really helpful but sometimes you don’t wanna wait for shipping ya know? The “gotta make muh profit” people on UTE are getting a tad outta hand. Please feel free to add. I’ve included what I normally run.
For 9mm: Cabelas, Get Some G&A, LAX have been pretty alright with $16.99 or 17.99 depending on brand and if you care about shooting aluminum.
38 special: LAX had them for $34
.357 mag: Get Some had them for $39.99, LAX had them for $54
7.62x39: $11~14 dollars at Get Some, Firearmpro, LAX
All right who does the cheapest NFA transfers. Looking to do two suppressors.
Just letting everyone know that CAPS is starting back up, and will be doing a USPSA match on Saturday 3/26.
If you’ve been wanting to try competition shooting, this is a great group to start with. Very laid back and great with new shooters.
You will need to sign up for an account on Practiscore in order to register for the match. You don’t have to be a USPSA member to shoot, although you’ll want to join up if you decide to stick with it.
Hey all, apologies if this is not allowed.
I am selling my huge gun safe to downgrade to a safe that can actually be placed in my basement. Take a look and share to anyone who might be interested, please!
Hello everyone, I recently acquired a 69' circle 11 AKM parts kit. Before reaching out the the bigger more known AK builders I thought I would reach out here to see if there is anyone in the Utah/Salt Lake county areas.
I know this is a long shot but does anyone here know where I could find a nagant cylinder sleeve locally. The only ones I can find online are located in Russia and I've had almost every package form there confiscated by customs lately.
My budget is about $1,500, what’s the best bang for my buck in the area?
Basically the title. I have this photography class with a final project coming up. The gist of it is to tell a story that I'm passionate about through photos. As a minority shooter myself, I'm looking for any minority recreational or competitive shooters who have a little bit of free time to tell a bit of their story and have their picture taken over the next 4-ish weeks. I'd like some range shots, maybe some weapons maintenance, and general portraits. Bonus points if you are an instructor or work with firearms. I'm not taking any political stance here, so your own really doesn't matter, though it could come up as part of your story if you choose. I'm also not offering any compensation (I'll bring my guns out when we go shooting if that counts), as I don't even want to be doing this assignment myself.
I live downtown and like to go shooting over on Stansbury Island and am typically available any day or time outside of the two upcoming weekends. You'll obviously get any photos that are at least OK looking to do with what you please, and I'll only be using them to turn into my professor. No media outlet, blog, portfolio, etc.
If this is something you might be interested in, please DM me. Thanks!
Edit: I got perma-banned from r/SaltLakeCity for this same post. So if it's an issue here, please let me know and I'll be happy to remove it. Thanks.
We have recently had 5 membership spots open up and we are now accepting applicants: https://www.farmtrainingcenter.com/membership-application/
I competed in Olympic style 50m pistol when I was in college, but don't have any center fire training or competition experience.
My mother has been shooting recreationally since she was a teenager, but also doesn't have any competition or training experience.
We're interested in a "pistol 1" type course, and are willing to drive anywhere between Nephi-Logan. I've heard good things about Baer Solutions, but their course always sells out before I can register. ReadyGunner in Orem offered a 1 day defensive pistol course in the past, but they don't have any avalible dates on their website currently.
Does anyone have any recommendations? We're interested in taking a class sometime in Feb-Mar, and the doing a "pistol 2" class shortly thereafter. Any suggestions are appreciated
