Anyone know a place in town that has one in stock?
I have a gun listed on TGT. Every reply seems to want to text rather than chat via the internal messaging system.
I have chatted with a couple that seemed like legit people. Ive also encountered a few that asks for pictures of the gun. I tell them that pictures of all angles are posted on the ad. They seem to be insistent on me sending them pics directly.
Am I missing something here or is this some sort of scam setup?
It sucks having to be so paranoid of everyone these days.
My rear night sight on my Glock 23 fell off, and I put it back on myself but it ended up coming off again. Anyone have any recs on a shop I can take it to that won’t charge an absurd bench fee or anything?
I've been thinking of competing. I would say I'm a above average shooter in a static indoor range setting but do want to get better push myself by attending more technical classes. I see YouTube videos of drills students are doing that involve shoot targets at multiple distances and moving around. I'm interested on doing those before I consider competing. I'm a member at Athena but I don't believe they offer classes like that, based on the curriculum they post.
I'm pretty sure most places that offer that will probably be out door ranges. Any recommendations?
Anyone know of a LGS in the greater Houston area that sells either a Credo HX 1-6 or a Viper PST II? I know I can buy either one online at a better price, but I don't feel like waiting for shipping.
Anyone have recs for an FFL that does transfers for NFA items online orders and has fingerprinting on site for convenience, and how much is the fee? Seen anywhere from $50-100.
Near Spring/Woodlands/Conroe/Huntsville/Tomball/Humble
I inherited ~6 black powder rifles. I’ve held onto them for years because I didn’t want to accept a low ball offer from LGS. I sold one on GunTrader but that was a lot effort. How much less would I get from a store, 50%? To be really clear- I am not offering to sell these rifles to anyone on Reddit. Yes, I intend to keep one.
Figured I'd toss a snow day pic on the sub for record keeping sake, I enjoyed the dusting in 77505, thought it was rad. Anyone muck with their guns today? Do any shooting? Have any matches coming up? Wanna meet up and shoot the shit while shooting sometime? I've been in marksman a fair bit this month running an AK-V but will shoot almost any discipline anywhere...less go.
I loaded up on monarch 9mm 115g the other week when it was $.20 CPR and bought like 2500 rounds. During this time they had a promotion where you would get a $20 e gift card for every $100 spent on ammo. Used that to help fund my mossberg home defense shotgun lol.
This weekend I picked up 2000-2500 rounds of the 124 grain monarch nato 9mm ammo for $.22 CPR. The academy on Bunker Hill was cleaned of their stock so had to go to Westheimer so I'm assuming people are stocking up when they go on sale.
Looks like these monarchs were manufactured from either Brazil or Turkey but people look to have issues with the one from Turkey. I can say that I haven't had any duds. Maybe a few couple out of the thousand ive shot had failure to return to battery but could have been limp wristing. Accurate enough but the rounds can be pretty dirty, my tlr7x is covered in soot after every visit but I clean after every visit so it doesn't bother me to much.
I don't think I've seen any deals better when buying range ammo in bulk, at least not recently. I looked online for bulk and for the most part, if the rounds come close to $.20 they usually charge for shipping. Some I've come across even charge tax.
Where do y'all usually buy your cheap range ammo at?
I have a Kovrov Arsenal RPD parts kit, a new DSA receiver and DSA barrel. Looking to find a builder that can work with me on a custom hammer-fired build using the Savage 775 trigger ( build that Cal50 on Weaponsguild designed / engineered - looks to work much better than the usual striker-fired builds out there ).
Anybody know where to find one of these in or around Houston?
Anyone know a shop that sells them?
Started piecing together a home range, and it’s been a fun but challenging ride. I’m aiming for a practical setup to run drills efficiently without needing to travel too far. So far, I’ve set up 10 yards for pistol work, added a 50-yard target for rifles, and created a few barricades for cover training. The highlight so far has been building a small tower for elevation shots—nothing crazy, but it’s been a game changer for the variety of drills I can run.
My questions for the community are:
What are some “must-have” training tools I might be missing?
How do you manage targets efficiently without a huge budget?
Would love some advice from seasoned shooters on how to optimize space and keep everything safe. Always looking to improve my setup!
Been searching for a solid outdoor range in the Houston area where I don’t have to break the bank or pay extra for each gun I bring. I’m looking for something with good open space, no need for range officers breathing down my neck. No interest in high-end places like the Athena Gun Club – just want to shoot without all the extra fees. Do any of you know a spot that’s decent for a casual weekend range day?
So new to Houston never bought my own gun but wanting to. Want something simple maybe just a Glock 19 with a suppressor too...
With that said I am a veteran I know how to safely use and handle a gun just don’t know where to buy one at or the whole procedure out here on getting one …
Also, I know it’s legal to carry in tx but what’s the disqualifications? I’m just trying to excerise my second amendment.😁
I have a full size PDP Pro and interested on checking out a compact PDP or PDP F series to carry but want to feel it out first. With the exception of primary arms or Athena, does anyone know a place? Primary arms has a selection of them but I don't think they have a store front that will let us take a look at them
Has anyone been to the range since they reopened? I'm thinking about becoming a member. Do you still need a truck or SUV to access the bays?
I’m new to Texas just got my ID I am 18 years old I am wondering where I can go to buy a handgun or what are the local laws
Got another pistol recently which has motivated to start shooting again at ranges. I live down the street from Athena gun club so I've been going there recently. Love the facility but can be pricey at $18 weekdays and $20 weekends... Half off on Thursday though. I didn't mind the cost when It was once in a while, but been going frequently lately.
I may just end up sticking to Athena since it's literally down the street from me but anyone have a preferred spot west Houston?
Ps. Also been to full armor.
Hello - I’ve never owned a shotgun, or any gun, for that matter. I am interested in getting into clays/skeet.
I play a ton of golf and could direct a beginner to a solid set of clubs that would not be bottom tier/awful but also not something so nice it wouldn’t help them get started enjoying the game.
Any suggestion for me in regard to brand or type of shotgun that would fit this sort of description?
Thanks!
Looking to get a lower cerakoted to match upper, anyone have a recommendation for good place to get it done? Prefer closer to Katy but doesn’t have to be
Any ranges open today/this evening
Looking for info on who has good prices on transfers for normal firearms. Have been going to carters country spring.
Ty
Edit: I just found out about the FFL locator on gun broker
So this might be a silly question… but I’m pretty new to Houston and I just saw in academy that we can buy a pound of tannerite???
Is there really any place to go shoot it, just for a cool wow factor? Or is there some other use case for it?
Which places have the best deals?
Ordered a griffin armament mk2 lower but sounds like it’ll take a month to ship minimum…
so I’m looking for something like the aero precision m4e1 lower (currently priced at $100) for the mean time / start of the next build I guess :p
already received all other parts just need the lower now! Please help 🥲 I’m getting too impatient to build my first rifle
Good morning! Can anyone point me in the right direction for Houston locations that host these types of events regularly. Would like to go see one and possibly compete. Thanks!
Has anyone heard or seen the new Larue Tactical Siete? It has a magpul style chassis. supposedly it has the same accuracy as the siete. I cant seem to find any pictures of it. Has around a $1700 price tag.
