The .22 Long Rifle rimfire cartridge (5.6×15mmR - metric designation) is a long established variety of ammunition, and in terms of units sold is still by far the most common in the world today. The cartridge is often referred to simply as .22 LR and various rifles, pistols, revolvers, and even some smoothbore shotguns have been manufactured in this caliber.

The cartridge is often referred to simply as .22 LR and various rifles, pistols, revolvers, and even some smoothbore shotguns have been manufactured in this caliber.
The cartridge originated from the Flobert BB Cap of 1845 through the .22 Smith & Wesson cartridge of 1857, and was developed by the American firearms manufacturer J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company in 1887 by combining the casing of the .22 Long with the 40-grain (2.6 g) bullet of the .22 Extra Long. For many decades, it has been a very popular cartridge around the world.
Virtually every manufacturer of cartridge firearms makes at least one model chambering it, and this has been true for more than a century. The .22 Long Rifle and related cartridges (.22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Extra Long) use a heeled bullet, which means that the bullet is the same diameter as the case, and has a narrower "heel" portion that fits in the case.

If anyone has any input about their P322 I’d love to hear it but it seems to me the mags just don’t ever feed right (I’m loading them correctly).
Im debating between a TX22 and FN502. I’m not interested in a Mark IV, Buckmark, etc I prefer higher capacity.
Really want the fixed stock (A2 style) for the mp5 in 22 by hk and unarex, but they don’t make it anymore. Walter made one with the model number 578108, and was wondering if anyone had one here and would want to sell or knew where to find one.
I would buy like an air soft stock but I don’t want it to be flimsy, and the actual mp5 stock is too pricy to have to modify it to fit. Thanks!
Shot a coconut with this Ammo!
There's something comforting about toning a rifle around that's your age or older.
Tens rds of .22lr at about 10 ft!.
Beautiful day at one of the Firing Lanes. S&W model 422 in 4”” Barrel
Well my new tuc has improved dramatically. Compared to my first range visit where I had multiple stove pipes assorted failure to loads, this had all stopped. Also I was getting a significant number of light primer strikes. Now that I have run a couple hundred rounds through it, the primer strikes issue is more the exception now. Gun may turn out to be pretty descent after all
My favorite Winchester 22s.
From top to bottom
1890 - 22 Long. Made in 1929
1906 - 22 Short, Long and Long Rifle. Made in 1910
61 - 22 Short, Long and Long Rifle. Made in 1958
62A 22 Short, Long and Long Rifle. Made in 1941
9422 - 22 Short, Long and Long Rifle. Made in 1995
The 1890s are probably my favorite. This one was originally chambered in 22 Long. It someone somewhere in its history “converted” it to shoot 22LR. The problem is the 1/20 twist rate remains (the twist rate for shorts and longs) instead of a more typical 1/16 twist. Going to see how it groups before I decide to reline it to 22LR. It’s such a shame because it has a beautiful bore! If you know these guns you know how rare it is to find a mirror bore due to the corrosive primer used back then.
Currently doing my research on an optic for my tx-22 toro. I will be using this for plinking and training my kids to shoot. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
I currently have multiple holosun dots on my pistols, and am looking to stick below the $250 mark. I am ok with purchasing a mounting plate if needed for non RMSc footprints.
I personally prefer green dots for my astigmatism but this isn’t a requirement, as my kids don’t have the same sight imperfections that I do.

I know this is common knowledge, but as a new shooter I found in interesting. I was shooting pretty consistent 1 MOA groups but these were the result of only shooting 3 or 5 shot groups. Ny range today was about .7 and 1.2 MOA groups.
Today I used software to stack my 6, 6 shot groups and found I was actually shooting worse than 1.5 MOA groups!
Obviously the more shots we take, the more accurate our analysis is. When we shoot 5 or even 10 shot groups, we stop before we learn what we are really doing. The guys at Hornaday said it takes 30-35 shot groups to get a "normal distribution", so thats what I tried here.
I used to say I was shooting 1 MOA groups but now I have to be honest and admit I cant even shoot 1.5 MOA groups. Bummer.
First 10/22
I've got a Ruger 10/22 Model 1149 Sporter rifle with a 22" barrel. I've got a Silencerco Sparrow suppressor on the way, so I was on the lookout for a threaded barrel. Ordered a Volquartsen barrel and it just arrived. Stupid me assumed all barrel lengths were the same, and I ended up with a 16 3/4" barrel. Now going back and paying attention to barrel lengths and it looks like 18 1/2" barrels are the longest I can find. Been searching all over and cannot find 22" barrels at all, let alone threaded barrels.
Is anybody aware of some unicorn I can't find?
Should I just get my existing barrel machined?
Or is an 18 1/2" not going to be a big difference from the 22"?
Finally pulled the trigger on a CZ 457 Pro Varmint. Got an MDT 20 MOA rail and an Athlon Ares. She’s a shooter!
Bought the Brownells receiver a few months back, and assembled it as sales for parts came around. No idea how long I’ll keep the BX trigger, but it seems like it will do the job out at 200 yards.
Smacking (tickling?) a 4” plate at 100 meters with my 10/22. CCI standard.
Savage Mark 2
So I like to use Velocitor by CCI through my 10/22 for pest control. That is what my rifle is sighted for. That being said, I’d like a clean burning reliable ammo choice for just general practice that doesn’t eat up my hard to find velocitor.
For those of you with a 10/22, which bill ammo would you find feeds reliably well and burns relatively clean to run for shits and giggles?
I wanna throw one of these on my sig p322. It’s a plinking fun gun. Personally I don’t care much about the added dot options of the 507k but I worry about the 6moa dot on the 407 being too big when it comes to target shooting. Opinions?
