The .22 Long Rifle rimfire cartridge (5.6×15mmR - metric designation) is a long established variety of ammunition, and in terms of units sold is still by far the most common in the world today. The cartridge is often referred to simply as .22 LR and various rifles, pistols, revolvers, and even some smoothbore shotguns have been manufactured in this caliber.

The cartridge originated from the Flobert BB Cap of 1845 through the .22 Smith & Wesson cartridge of 1857, and was developed by the American firearms manufacturer J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company in 1887 by combining the casing of the .22 Long with the 40-grain (2.6 g) bullet of the .22 Extra Long. For many decades, it has been a very popular cartridge around the world.

Virtually every manufacturer of cartridge firearms makes at least one model chambering it, and this has been true for more than a century. The .22 Long Rifle and related cartridges (.22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Extra Long) use a heeled bullet, which means that the bullet is the same diameter as the case, and has a narrower "heel" portion that fits in the case.

1st day out w/ Bergara B14R

Went out with the two other friends and we each took a row, 5 shots each with CCI SV Target.

I noticed that the very first round in each mag saw some shearing, but smoothed out after 3 or 4 mags. What's going on here?

Oh so we're going there, huh??

Well, if we're going for the ridiculous scope size pic, here we go. Yes, that's an Apex Rival on a .22lr Vector SBR. Yes, I actually did it on purpose several weeks ago to take to a match, just for fun. Startlingly accurate combination, actually. Not going to win with it, but it was fun, and most importantly, ridiculous!!

First .22 pistol

I've had ALOT of .22 rifles. Never the first pistol. I've heard GREAT things about the tx22. Most say better than the Glock 44. Feeling the trigger, it feels good for being a Taurus. I go shoot it Sunday with all the 325 rounds and 4 total mags I got with it. Anyone who has one, what should I expect accuracy-wise? I know it will be great performance wise, but I'm interested in others experience.

Gun Case for Ruger Mark IV Competition

So I'm upgrading from my old Mark II (I'm justifying this by gifting it to my son).

I'm looking for a hard case that can hold at least the Mark IV, numerous magazine, basic cleaning kit, and preferably a significant amount of ammo. The competition is a bit longer than other pistols at 11.11", which makes it a bit difficult to fit.

I'm halfway tempted to go with a rifle case for all of the family's pistols.

Anyone have a good suggestion?

Should’ve gotten a bigger scope

Originally put this together for local nrl22 matches but the guy that runs them is insufferable. So now it’s just for fun.

Temporarily mounting a flashlight to rifle scope for hunting - anyone done it before?

Hey guys. Have a CZ 457 American in 22LR with a gorgeous walnut stock that I have been shooting suppressed. It's awesome and quiet!

Once in a great while though I'd like to take it out for some night hunting of coyote and other varmint. When doing that, I'd want to mount a 1" diameter flashlight, as I have mounted on my AR's and some other more modern/tactical rifles.

However, I don't want to screw a pic rail onto the beautiful wood stock, especially since I'd only be mounting the light a few times a year.

I stumbled on this contraption on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Calitte-Flashlight-Telescope-Diameter-25mm-30mm/dp/B0CH6HQGM2/ref=pd_lpo_sccl_1/132-1975672-1195304?pd_rd_w=zEsJi&content-id=amzn1.sym.4c8c52db-06f8-4e42-8e56-912796f2ea6c&pf_rd_p=4c8c52db-06f8-4e42-8e56-912796f2ea6c&pf_rd_r=GGJAZ9WPAH7TP2R45Q3J&pd_rd_wg=nRVvf&pd_rd_r=d9b32121-29a0-4e5c-b0d9-acbffb4fbf1a&pd_rd_i=B0CXTHTWFF&th=1

Anyone ever used something like this before? Is it OK to mount something as light as a flashlight to a scope tube? This seemed perfect: though ugly and bulky, it'd just be for a few night hunts a year. Would easily be removeable without any tools, shouldn't mar up the rifle, and wouldn't affect POI like a barrel mount would.

Seems to be exactly what I need. But wasn't sure if mounting something to a scope was a huge no-no. Thanks for the input.

TX22; does Victory trigger upgrade solve the pre-travel and grittiness & other ??s

Anyone with the Tandemkross Victory trigger please chime in.

Researching the stainless guide rod and it's got mixed reviews with many negative outcomes. Opinions on it please.

I've got a standard earlier production model that feeds and ejects at least 95% of everything I've fed it.
Is there any advantage for extractor or striker upgrades?

I shoot suppressed so no need to compensate.
Grabbing the lightened trigger spring with new trigger if I go for it.

Is there any other game changing TK upgrades I should consider?

Smallbore scopes

I'm looking to join a league that allows scopes for indoor at 50 feet, as well as out door 50/100yd matches.

One of my friends lent me a Bushnell Elite 4200 8-24x to try out, but no matter how I adjust the diopter and prism I lose the cross hairs as soon as I get on target. The black just starts to blend into the target for me. The only thing I can figure is my astigmatism in my right eye is causing some issue?

I was looking at maybe trying a leupold, but I'm worried I'll have the same issue with it.

I did try a Hawke air rifle scope before, which was okay but I couldn't focus at 50' so that was ruled out.

Anyone have suggestions for something that will work for both 50 feet and 50/100 yards? I was thinking to maybe try and find something with an illuminated reticle?

10/22 Or AR22?

I've built a few Rugers in my time, and a bunch of AR variations. Always fun.

For a good solid fun rifle, probably around 1k for the whole project, would you guys suggest a customized Ruger, a pre built AR22, or a build your own type AR22?

One thing in looking for is a reduced size profile, so a takedown ruger or storing the AR in halves, etc..

I won't be doing any NFA though. So no SBR, no braced pistols. Just looking at 16" barrel options with optics, probably a red dot or compact scope.
