I was re reading the proposed semi auto ban (sb 1181) and was wondering if any one could give me an example
Can anyone give me an example of a threaded barrel capable of accepting a foward handgrip? I can't imagine someone attaching a handgrip to their barrel that way
Law below, most notably read the center fire pistol but it looks like a wrong copy and paste. Doesn't surprise me that the idiots who vote for this don't know how to use that properly
" 2. A semi-automatic center-fire rifle that expels single or multiple projectiles by action of an explosion of a combustible material that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has one of the following characteristics: (i) a folding, telescoping, or collapsible stock; (ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the rifle; (iii) a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand; (iv) a grenade launcher; (v) a flare launcher; (vi) a sound suppressor; (vii) a flash suppressor; (viii) a muzzle brake; (ix) a muzzle compensator; (x) a threaded barrel capable of accepting (a) a sound suppressor, (b) a flash suppressor, (c) a muzzle brake, or (d) a muzzle compensator; or (xi) any characteristic of like kind as enumerated in clauses (i) through (x);

Winter is in full swing, and Green Ops is back with another run of our Defensive Shotgun course on February 8th in Culpeper, VA. We're going to have a great full day of skills and drills out on the range, and we'll be joined by Adam Roth of u/Aridus_Industries showcasing his brand new Imperium handguard for the 1301. A few of us at Green Ops have been able to get hands on with it, and it is simply fantastic.

So I recently turned 23 and since I’ve been legally allowed to own a firearm I’m looking into a few such as a psa dagger or a Taurus. I come from a state that made legal firearm ownership almost impossible for anyone deemed non-essential. I was curious as to wether or not I needed an ffl or any paperwork to get a binary trigger just for fun range days or are they just out right banned for civilian use
Hi all,
I'm not well-read on the current 2A friendliness of Virginia and was wondering if you all could shed some light. I'd really like to buy another AR. I have one now, but it's back with family in another state.
Thanks!
As the title says, looking for whether or not ammo like the Xtreme Defense (which is a copper solid monolithic round) is legal in VA - based on the statute that I read it seems that non-lead monolithic ammunition is only illegal if used during the commission of a crime, but I could be totally off base with my interpretation.
Hello,
I was recently looking to purchase a full sized UZI parts kit for a semi auto rifle build, and recently saw that in Virginia it's illegal to own a full auto sear, which does come with the UZI parts kits (preinstalled into the trigger mechanism) you find online. I wanted to ask if it's even legal to obtain these parts kits anymore in state? Or would I have to have it shipped somewhere to have it removed before getting the parts or requesting in the order from the seller to have it removed pre shipping?
Thanks.
What if there is a law that says every person must own a firearm or at least every house hold should have one. But nobody can make a law that can banned firearms. Would that drop crime rate all over the country?
First time (potential) gun buyer. I have a legitimate store seller in mind and will bring my drivers license, proof of residency, and cash if the store doesn’t accept card. I don’t get off work until 4:30 PM and they close at 6:00 PM. Would this be enough time to fill out any forms, have the background check, and purchase the gun same-day? How long does a first time background check take, assuming I have no misdemeanors, nevermind a felony. Thank you in advance!
EDIT: I appreciate everyone who answered! I went to the shop today at around 5 and was out within 30 minutes!
Sorry for the weird title, not exactly sure what I'm looking for is called.
I am looking for some sort of grappling self defense class that involves training firearms. Something like where I have a training rifle/pistol either out or holstered and have to maintain control of the weapon and get free.
Is there anything like that around the warren county area? And or what would that be called?
Haven't seen any of these talked about and it's a good thing to discuss cause these if the house is kept by the democrats and the governor flips will likely be passed next year.
These are some of the bills that would change our gun laws drastically.
SB 1329 would make it so you can no longer have a handgun in your glove box etc without a chp. In fact the only way to have a gun in your car at all without a CHP under the new law would be to be going between certain places otherwise straight to jail.
SB 886 would make it so that binary triggers, frts and super safeties would be illegal and anyone who has one and doesn't know the law has changed would be given a felony.
I will also recommend next year we all contact representatives because there are several bills for under 21, which as we should know per Elhert v Settle, any restriction is unconstitutional (and the va surprme court refused to step in that case so it's possible they would affirm it)
If I’m understanding previous posts about this subject I can legally acquire a handgun via private purchase at 18 years of age?
What are the current laws on this? I know about Fraser v. ATF & Elhert v. Settle how did these cases turn out?
Did I have to go through a background check even in a private sale?
I don’t have to register it or anything?
Thanks and if possible provide documentation!
I am considering moving to Richmond for work and have a valid CCW in CA which took a long ass time to get. I was wondering while I wait for my residency in VA, would it be possible for me to carry in VA with my CA permit and what processes would I need to do to register my ARs and pistols in VA. If it helps too, I am also a certified NRA RSO and firearms instructor too.
My renewal is coming up this year. Just curious whether Fairfax is still handing out piece of paper for CHP?
The Senate floor will be voting on numerous gun bills this week, including SB848 (age requirement for purchase), SB880 (restricts carrying assault weapons in public places), SB881 (banning ghost guns), SB891 (five day waiting period), and SB1134 (safe storage of firearms where minors present).
Hi there, I’m up to renew and live in prince william county. Am I able to mail in my renewal application and all, or do I have to go in?
Hi, I am looking to build my first AR-15, and I'm searching for a place that will provide lessons to ensure the final product is safe and properly constructed. I'm based in the Charlottesville area. Any recommendations?
Thanks so much!
Hey guys I was placed under a TDO for Bipolar disorder two years ago. Does this still affect my right to own a firearm? If so how can I get them restored.
Anybody know any good consignment shops or gunshops that pay fair?
Hello all! I'm going ot be coming down from PA for a little mini vacation and saw that I am allowed to carry here with my PA permit. However, I am very confused with the "restricted ammo" thing. It says that it's illegal to have a bullet that isn't "wholly comprised of metal or metal alloy". does that mean I can't have hornady critical defense in my mags?
Previous concealed carry permit holder in the state of Virginia. Moved away from the locality that I originally got the permit from, and let it expire. Now that I’ve moved away from that locality, I would like to get another permit (still in the state of Virginia)! After reviewing the law and talking to my local circuit court, it appears that I can use my previous expired concealed carry permit as a method to verify that I’ve demonstrated competency with a firearm. My question, however is that on the concealed carry permit application one of the questions ask have you attended an in person training course or class. When I originally got my concealed carry permit, it was not required to have taken an in person class only an online course. Would this disqualify me or create any issues?
From left to right-- 9mm--.38 special-- .40SW- .45acp-- .10mm-- 7.5FK-- 5.56-- 7.62x39-- .350LEGEND-- 7.62Nato(tracer)-- .303BRIT-- 7.62x54r-- .300 WIN MAG what does everyone else like to shoot? I looked through both this sub and /NOVAGuns and couldnt find what I was looking for so figure i'd ask.
Im in the market for a handgun and have tried several stores and shot quite a few guns and have narrowed it down to a few I like. Some good places, some weird places and some really standoffish shops around here.
Just wondering if any shops in the are (NOVA specifically) do anything for veterans.
I know Glock does the Blue Label which seems kinda straight forward but Im not a huge glock fan.
Sig has a "Off Duty" program but it seems quite confusing and there doesnt look to be any dealers in the NoVA area who are part of it.
SEG waives the initiation fee for memberships.
PX does tax free but the prices arent always the best.
Cabelas does 5 percent off, but ugh bog box stores.
Yes, I know I can go to gun deals or whatever and have something shipped but I would rather support somewhere local and their overhead.
I know there are a ton of vets in the area so its hard for places to offer discounts and still make money and I dont want to seem too greedy ... but ... every bit helps.
Anyone know any shops around that do anything too? Even just a few percent off the top (like 2-3) or anything. Would be great if any shops did the sig program since I love the P365.
I bought a rifle, its sitting at the FFL, he said he couldn't transfer it with my passport and that I have to get a license (had it suspended for reckless driving bs) and wait 30 days. I am a va resident with a va lease and va bills. Is this how it works?
Hello, I'm wondering if my parent (45) is able to purchase a handgun assembly kit, then gift it to me. (18)
BTW ( both have clean records)
