Byrna air gun legal?

Hi folks

I have a family member who will be in Kauai for about 18 months.

He already has good firearm options for home protection (registered).

But since he is living on a few acres I’m looking at a less-than-lethal option for protection from people trespassing....maybe simply lost or maybe more sketchy reasons.

This Byrna air gun launches large plastic balls at a few hundred feet per second. Also a pepper ball option but not sure that is legal in Hawaii.

Anyone know if it is legal? I know they don’t ship there.

Thx

Do I need to renew my long gun permit each year?

So from my understanding the long gun permit is just used to acquire firearms. Meaning, I don’t need to renew it every year unless I plan on purchasing more firearms. Is this correct?

Firearm Permit Questionnaire

I know this is a long shot, but does any know if answering yes to any of the questions on the questionnaire automatically disqualify a person from obtaining their permit?

Ruger PC Carbine 9mm 10 Round - CA Compliant

Hello,

I am moving to Hawaii (big island) sometime this year and trying to figure out if the Ruger PC Carbine 9mm 10 round mag (CA compliant) is legal. Does this fall into the assault pistol category?

The manufacture style number is 19102 if that helps.

Here is the link for the one I have,

https://ruger.com/products/pcCarbine/specSheets/19102.html

I’ve done a ton of research on Hawaii gun law and been reading on the recent changes. But can’t seem to come to a solid answers.

Thanks for the help!

Firearm Permit Process Question

I am a military veteran but in the past two years I have gone to therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. When I disclose my diagnosis on a Hawaii firearm permit application will I automatically be barred from gun ownership in the state? Has anyone else applied for a firearm permit with a mental health diagnosis?

Hawaii Guns sounds like an oxymoron

I heard it's practically illegal to own guns in Hawaii

Flying to Hawaii...

My wife and I are flying to Hawaii this year for a wedding. Beyond the monetary value of the clothes in the checked luggage, we can't afford to have the airlines lose the bag; it would ruin the wedding.

If I declare an AR lower in the bag so the airline keeps track of it properly, will I run afoul of any Hawaii laws?

My research suggests that if I stay for more than 5 days, I need to jump through some hoops, like getting written notice from a shooting range that I intend to shoot there, except that I'm not planning on bringing an operational firearm...

Thoughts? I'm active duty military if that makes a difference.

HI Guys.

It's possible I may be temporarily located in Hawaii for a couple years if the Navy has their way. I love guns and have a safe full of them. However, if I get stationed in Hawaii, I'm leaving all of them with my brother except my compact 1911. I've read up on the gun laws, registration process, and how to get my 1911 to Hawaii. It just sounds so... painful to get one gun there. I need some honest feedback: is it worth it? I know deep down it is, being able to at least protect my house in the middle of the night, but I just want some frank inputs that I'm making (or not making) the right decision here.

Edit: Got verbals on my orders, will be bringing my 1911 to experience the sun and pineapples!

Glock 17 gen 3

Selling my glock 17. Asking price $550 and must be on the big island. No pistol license no sale. Comes with gun holster and dual clip holster. Upgrade: extended mag release, mag weld and stainless steel rod. I lost my glock box during moving houses. Idk where it is.

HPD Instituting New System, and It Will Cost You $42 Next Time

I was just downtown registering some of my weapons that finally came in from out of state. The clerk mentioned that the next time I come back in I will have to pay an additional $42 and get re-finger printed again. A new system is being put into place that will allow the HPD visibility into offenses committed on the mainland. It doesn't matter if you're going in for a re-newal, new long gun registration, or whatever, you will still have to pony-up $42 (regardless if you've just paid the $12 for permitting). It's a one-time fee and (re)fingerprint to gets you set up into that new system.
