I live near Charleston. I've been trying to search for places to shoot at night under my nod's. From what I have found out, every single range closes early and there is obviously no public land to legally go shooting on. I live on about 30 acres of land but how West Virginia's topography is layed out, we have neighbors with-in 100 yards of our property and I don't want to piss them off by shooting at night. Even firing suppressed will be too loud. Is there any places anyone knows about where someone can shoot at night with-out being a nuisance. Or is WV not a good place for night vision owners?
I am 21 and do not have my CCW but am a resident of WV. I have a rifle but not handgun and have been wanting to keep my rifle behind my seats in my truck (single cab ranger, pretty concealed spot) Is that legal? I cant find anything about it anywhere. I would assume its legal because of constitutional carry but Im not sure if that applied to rifles. Does anyone know?
Practical Firearms Training still has some space available in the Defensive Handgun 1 & 2 class on March 9-10. The class is great for everyone from brand new and novice shooters to experienced shooters who want to hone their fundamentals. If you're interested in other classes like Tac Rifle, Shotgun, VBI, Room Entry, or Precision Rifle, check out the 2024 calendar here.
This is a full weekend of training - far more than the bare minimum four hour CCW classes you see all over the place - on a well-equipped range with fantastic instructors. I'm biased (I'm one of them), but I joined the instructor cadre because it's such a great environment: Classes are based on real-world encounters and most likely scenarios with no extra fluff, and there's no showboating or tacticool bs from the instructors.

Title. Is it legal to have a concealed loaded handgun in your center console or glovebox? I am over 21 and have a PA CCW. I understand that it is legal to leave a loaded handgun in your vehicle provided the vehicle is locked and the gun is out of sight, just want to know if it's legal to have in there while driving around. Thanks!
I know there used to be places on MeWe to buy, sell, or trade locally, but they're shut down. I don't want gun store prices, but I don't want to give away stuff either. Trading for stuff I never shot is fun to me also. Do we just use the old school paper trading posts? Or is there a place online for is to mee up?
Where is a good place to post guns for sale? Any groups? Apps? I'm tired of fighting Facebook
Hello all,
Any seasoned WV hunters with tips on things to think about/know/be aware of/worry about when hunting on public land? I want to go when the season opens (though not the first day), and I'm on the lookout for meat more than a trophy. I'm pretty inexperienced, and will basically park my suv where it looks safe to do so and head a quarter mile or so into the woods (or not as far if I see any signs of activity (scat, tree scraping, etc.) and see what happens (basically, stay in one place for 10/15 minutes, if no activity move a few hundred yards, wait 10/15 minutes, rinse repeat).
I'm probably also going to go out at dusk and not dawn. I have never hunted WMA land; only private.
Thank y'all for any and all advice!
I was thinking about buying an ARP and turning it into a short barrel rifle with suppressor/brace. What all stamps would I need for that and also, can you legally have one in your vehicle? Otherwise how would you ever take it to a range or take it hunting. It’s a lot to take in at once and I’m trying to make sure I know everything I need to know before hand so everything is ready and legal on my end.
I'm thinking of selling two of my weapons, and I know I'll get the "best prices" selling them myself. There's a gun show this weekend and I thought I might try my luck doing a private sale. I am a little worried about the rules, which seem pretty loose here in WV.
Do y'all think I could assume that if someone is already in possession of a weapon they are legally allowed to purchase weapons? The law seems to indicate that "Knowingly selling a firearm to a person prohibited from owning one is illegal." But as an individual I don't have to do a background check.
I might just try to trade them inside for what I want to buy, but I know I won't get as good of a deal from the dealers.
Has anyone sold a gun to a stranger before?
Does any county accept non resident mail in application for handgun permit?
Title.
Is there a good location in Monongahela National forest to set up and shoot? The locations on the US Forest service website are vague at best.
I’m an out of state student at WVU and when school is in session I don’t have any good place to shoot. I’ve been told MNF kinda operates like BLM land out west so excuse me if I’m misinformed
Hey y’all I’m moving from VA to WV in the next couple weeks are there any firearms I will not be able to bring with me? Thanks in advance!
I live in the Northwest of VA and range options are sort of limited here. I've been looking for a good place to shoot for a while.
Just recently found these guys in Berkley Springs and their range and membership seems super promising. But it looks like their range is new and details online about the range and membership are sparse.
Has anyone here been? And care you share any insight on what it's like there? Thanks in advance.
I'm making a gun trust. I bought the trust document from an online vendor. I know when I sign it, I will need a notary witness. Do I also need other witnesses?
Don't know if this has been posted yet but Beckley has a Gun show this weekend. Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. It's at the Beckley armory.
Looking for a recommendation on a lawyer for creating a new trust. Located in the eastern panhandle.
Show masters is putting on a show March 25 and 26. I’m used to the little R&R shows around the state, so I’m thinking of trying out the Morgantown show. Is it worth the trip?
Where does everyone sell guns now that Armslist isn't really an option anymore?
I drove over to the Jefferson County Sheriffs office on 28 Feb 2023 with my completed application, out of state drivers license, $100 cash, and proof of live fire training. I was called exactly two weeks later (13 March 2023) that my permit was ready and scheduled a time to pick it up.
Came in today at the appointed time, paid my $25, got my photo taken and was out with my non-resident WV permit in about 10 minutes. It could not have been easier. Many thanks to the wonderful ladies at the Jefferson County Sheriffs office for make the process so straightforward.
Hello! I’ve got a nearly brand new Sig P365xl that I am looking to trade. I will include a holosun 507k red dot, 2 magazines, the original carry case, and a CCW holster made specifically for this P365xl.
Looking to trade for a Glock 19x. Feel free to message me. Located around the Morgantown area.
Title pretty much says it all, can’t find anything online about if it’s legal or not. I’d assume so but wanted to see if anyone knew for sure.
Hello,
I'm going to stay in Terra Alta WV this summer for a week and was wondering if there's any places to legally target shoot in the woods, or open spaces near there or if Monongahela National Forest is my best bet. Also, is it acceptable to hike with your rifle in WV, legally and socially? I'm aware of the laws regarding target shooting in national forests - proper backstop, no buildings within a certain distance, off the trail, and be sure to pick up spent brass.
Public or otherwise I can't seem to find any online. I usually go to the mud river public range, but its only 50 yards.
