I am look to get a 17 HMR rifle and have narrowed the search to those above. I was wondering if any one owns both and has a preference or had reliability/ durability problems with either. I would love any input thanks for the help.
Getting into steel shooting comps and wanting to trade my 5.56 pistol for a nice .22lr semi auto …. Not sure the best place to do it ….I’m in FL
Last year, I found this uncommon CZ 455 model going for $895 AUD at a dealer in Australia, and requested some photos of it.

It looks suitable for scratching the open sight itch without being unusually long, or sacrificing too much sight radius like might be the case with a shorter rifle like the Scout model.
I was quoted $75 AUD for interstate shipping to Sydney for a total cost of $970 AUD. That is close to the cost of a CZ 457 Synthetic or Tikka T1x MTR at dealers closer to home, but that doesn't include the cost of a scope and rings.
Does this look like a good deal?
Does anyone know what the issue is? I've been searching for the standard CZ 457 American in .22LR for the last 3-4 months and haven't seen anything. I've signed up for email alerts at 3-4 websites and still nothing. Please someone tell me I'm just being crazy.
I found the imperial measurements for the CZ 457 Scout on Google, although the annual catalogues from the CZUB website typically list the specifications of their rifles in metric. However, the CZ 457 Scout is missing from those catalogues, and the CZ-USA website keeps redirecting me to the CZUB website probably because I'm trying to access it from outside the US.
Does anyone know where I can find the CZ 457 Scout's metric specifications?
Does anyone know what kind of dovetail cut is used on the Ruger Mark series of pistols? I came across a 9mm 1911 pistol on the used market where the current owner got a gunsmith to attach the front and rear sights from a Ruger .22 pistol. The work also included cutting a new dovetail for the rear sight.
If the dovetail cut isn't compatible with any other sights, how difficult would it be for a gunsmith to rework the cut to fit a different set of sights?
I am looking a Taurus TX22 , I noticed there are two different prices one is about 30 to 40 bucks more .so I look at the description of the two and there is no difference, other then color. And I know the competition one is more and different from the two I was looking at . Why is there a price difference?
Late last year, I enquired about the merits of using a CZ 457 Scout as a compact rifle for an adult shooter. A couple of responses mentioned that a Ruger American Rimfire Compact would be a cheaper alternative.
In Australia, I can find the RAR Compact for ~$650-700 AUD, while the CZ 457 Scout is close to $800 AUD at the few dealers that have it. The RAR Compact's fibre optic front sight, adjustable stock inserts and 10 round magazine out of the box are nice, but the CZ 457 Scout has better fit and finish.
Either rifle would need to have their length of pull extended by an inch or so. The RAR Compact can be easily adjusted by swapping stock inserts but the local Ruger distributor advised me that they do not sell the stock inserts separately like ShopRuger.com does. The CZ 457 Scout would need a bit more work in comparison, but it's far from impossible.
What other features are worth comparing? Is there a clear winner out of the two?
I finally got a Taurus TX22 to use as a trainer pistol after hearing rave reviews from a lot of people. Took it to the range today and tried to plink some steel. Couldn’t hardly hit anything and wondered if the sights needed to be adjusted, so I stuck up a paper target and tried that found that even from a rest my spread with one mag was bigger than the size of the 66% torso from 15 yards. Am I expecting too much from a cheap-ish 22 or is there something wrong with mine? Or are these more picky on ammo?
It's my understanding that the Silhouette is not merely an American with a synthetic stock, but has some other differences. I've read that the synthetic stock attaches to the barrelled action in a manner not identical to other CZ 452 models. Is anyone able to explain this difference? Photos showing the difference would be helpful.
Are there any other noteworthy differences?
I stumbled upon a Ranger 103-13. It’s a tube fed 22. Marked ——Made in USA— No serial number. No other markings. I can’t find much of any information on it. Any information would be helpful.
