I’d like to try my hand at shooting longer ranges. I’m building a new rifle soon and I’m a member of the Barre fish and game with a 200y range but wanting to try 300,400,500. Anywhere in state? I’ve noticed one at the Northfield exit but might be private
I'm getting back into guns lately. I recently found out that I can get .22 ammo super cheaply right at Walmart. I just assumed they only sold hunting rounds and bird shot but they have .22 right there. I can get 50 rounds for like $4
So my question is; Is it still legal to get the 25 round banana magazines for a Ruger 10-22?
I used to have a 10-22 with 1 reliable and 1 extremely unreliable banana magazines and I had so much fun blowing up these orange soda cans I used to get 6 for a dollar at the dollar tree. I'm thinking about getting another 10-22 since they're so fun to shoot and buying ammo for it is a lot cheaper than the 9mm and 12ga I have right now. But I might consider getting something else if I can't get those big magazines anymore.
I haven't bought a gun since 2018 and other than this last weekend I haven't shot one since like 2021.
My second question is; If I can't get those big magazines anymore, what are some other .22's that are cheaper than a 10-22 but are still good?
Hi.
After a few posts locally in the wake of the election, I'm trying to organize the right/conservative folks in vermont who are gun enthusiasts into something social and maybe more.
If this is interesting to you – and it describes you – please comment here or DM me to be included. :)
(Note this is explicitly "right/conservative" to be inclusive; we're too few to do otherwise.)
Hi. You might know me from such subreddits as r/liberalgunowners, r/vermont, r/burlington, r/vtguns and r/vthunting. :)

DO NOT REPLY TO TELL ME A THING I LIKE IS BAD

I live in a free state and am curious to know!
Looking at a possible Vermont move from NH. If I own a pistol caliber carbine (CX4 storm in this case) how does the magazine capacity laws work. Is the 15 round mag legal in the 92 pistol but illegal when I load it into the carbine?
Who has the most choices for lowers in stock? Also does the waiting period apply to lowers? Haven’t bought one since before it was implemented…..
Yes I know I can order whatever but I’m impatient 😂
So I'm a young-ish shooter and I don't own any land now (only ever shot on public land and at the range) but long term I want to buy some land in NEK (within 45 min of saint J) and build a house.
If possible, I would love to have a small backyard range, (no more than 75 yards) but that leads me to some questions:
-How much land is enough? Would 5-10 acres be too small to safely set up a range?
-What is the best material for a backstop?
-If I am outside a town/city, are there any discharge/noise ordnances I should be aware of?
-What is the best way to be conscientious and courteous to my neighbors, if I have any? any experience with neighbors that complain? what's the best way to work it out in a polite and civil manner?
Apologies for my ignorance and thank you for your ideas!
Hi there. I’m looking to purchase a firearm and have only done so one other time at the Kittery Trading Post when I lived in NH. My boyfriend at the time helped me through the process at that time back in ‘09. Can anyone walk me through what to expect now, especially living in a different state? Also, are there really no shops down here in southeastern Vermont? I can’t seem to find any which makes the purchasing part difficult :).
Thanks in advance!
Hey all,
This is a pretty cool opportunity that comes once a year. Especially for long range shooters. The Vermont National Guard is opening up the ranges at Camp Ethan Allen Training Site to the public for the day. I have been able to shoot one of my personal rifles out to 1300M at this range. Rare for VT. Details at link.

Is there any way an individual below 21 can acquire a pistol in VT? Are there any loopholes or work-arounds to get by the ban below 21?
Hey I’ve been looking to getting into doing some comp shooting. and was wondering if there is a club or a group that does that in the area. Appreciate any insight!
I know CCF&G is closed to mid August but how about Laberge, are they open after the flooding last week? If not where else is there to go other than Parro’s.
I'd like to get a few holsters made for some of my collection. I'd rather not ship anything anywhere and I really like driving around Vermont! Thanks for any information.
I have a G43x I got in a trade right before the private sale bs was enacted with the new 3 day waiting period. I’m looking to trade it for cash to an actual licensed broker in VT. What does that look like? As I said. I acquired legally private sale prior to any of the new laws. Am I going or the person who initially bought it going to get flagged for anything if I take it to say powerhorn (will never go there just an example) for a simple trade?
Thanks!
Is there a forum or anywhere that people post stuff they're selling in VT? I've got some stuff I'm looking to sell and can't find anywhere. Thanks!
Anyone know of any big preban people in state? Looking to purchase a m11 but wanted to know if a local source before heading out of state
I’m in Washington county. I recently bought a 6.5 creedmore that came with 200 rounds (10 boxes) of brand new S&B ammo (131gr). I’m looking to either sell it or trade it. I don’t shoot a ton outside hunting and prefer hornady. Any idea how to do that in Vermont?
Curious if there are any other fellow nods enjoyers that may know of an area to do some night shooting? I know this is a super niche ask and likely will come down to finding someone with private secluded land to facilitate, but figured I'd throw an ask out while I continue to search for the holy grail.
I've been looking all over the state for state land that might facilitate, but it seems pretty limited being there are no BLM areas here in state. Also to be honest, even if I found a decent spot in a spot like the Green Mountain National Forest - I'd still be a bit worried about disturbing people.
I'm located in Franklin County, but I'd be willing to travel most places in state if there is a place to get some shooting in. Likewise, if someone here has land they'd be willing to let myself and a couple friends use I'd be glad to pay for the time. Shooting would be done suppressed with respect to any asks from the property owner as well.
Currently live in NY state, and am spoiled with a 5 lane outdoor range that has few rules, and holds USPSA matches twice a month. In a few years I will most likely be moving out of state, either to VT or PA. Shooting is my #1 hobby, and I don't want to move somewhere and be at a range that only allows one shot per second, and no holsters.
From the USPSA website it looks like Green Mountain Practical Shooters at Lamoille Valley Fish and Game is the only place that does matches regularly. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Would this range be my best option? Fortunately I'm not too tied to one specific location in Vermont...but the closer to Albany/Saratoga NY the better.
I have an FAL lower that I want to change from its current silver (paint?) form and have it match the black phosphate of the barrel and receiver. Any shops out there that can help me?
