I’m new to the Birmingham area, I’ve lived in Colorado for the last 8 years where there is a ton of land to shoot on and train with a rifle. (Towards the end of my time in Colorado, I had a friend with about 200 acres of land with steel out to 1400 meters where we did a lot of PRS). I’ve visited some of the indoor ranges, but that is so restrictive to actually be proficient and TRAIN with an AR.
I really need somewhere to run and gun and set up targets.
Is there an outdoor range that is public that allows this?
I am roadtripping the US with my friends. We have shot at a bunch of indoor ranges but I would really like to go to an outdoor range aswell. We look for an outdoor range that rents out guns and sells ammo. Any suggestions?
If someone was caught carrying concealed on private property in Alabama what is the punishment for that?
If there is no stated policy do you think it would be a problem?
It can be legislation for states or the federal level. Basically, policies/legislation that would advance a gun rights agenda.
Hi All, Hear a lot of laws about Alabama night shooting. Can anyone provide them? (Preferably with the AL legal code).
My understanding is there’s no shooting after 9pm but not sure if that’s just rumor. Mostly concerned with state law but if anyone is aware of local laws for north Alabama, interested in those as well. Thanks!
EDIT: After more digging, the 9am to 9pm law stems from RANGES (not individuals) not being able to be held liable for nuisance during the day - link: https://codes.findlaw.com/al/title-6-civil-practice/al-code-sect-6-5-341/
Im looking for a kill house, a kill house is a house made of plywood that has targets inside that you walk through and clear.
Is there anyone that does night vision training in the Birmingham metro area (or within an hour or two)?
Can you carry a pistol that was given to you by a parent or step parent at 18 years old?
Anyone know of someone who offers engraving services for NFA items in central AL?
Hi all,
Saw a post on here about two years ago wondering if you could shoot in the Bankhead with no real answer, and I'm wondering the same thing. OP of that thread got suspended so no answer for us unfortunately. Does anyone know if it's actually legal to target shoot out in the middle of nowhere in the Bankhead? Additionally, does anyone know of any good spots to do so? Just find a clearing or what? Thanks!
Does anyone know of a shop near Tuscaloosa (within an hour or so) carrying a PTR-91, Century Arms C308, or any other G3/CETME C clone? I want to pick one up but would rather have at least held one before doing so
Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge regarding whether binary triggers are legal/illegal in AL. Thanks for any info!
Hey everyone- i’ve had this idea in my head how i would love to start my own outdoor range- club style where you pay for a membership if you want and you have access to the range while its open etc etc.- im mainly building this for myself but i figured if i was going to have the property to begin with why not allow a small group of people access also.
My issue is i have no idea how to find alabama’s rules on building something like this, and operation rules- i’ve looked on google and read some forums but they all pertain to indoor gun ranges inside city limits (which im not planning on building in) or WMAs. Any idea where i could find more information on this? Im in my very early stages so im probably a while out from doing this but i just like to plan ahead.
As a resident I purchased a WL Heritage license to get wff range access. I'm trying to take some out of town friends shooting, but I'm confused by what is available to non-residents. According to the application form ^3, a 3-day hunting license is the only item listed as explicitly conferring access to shoot at WFF ranges.
A management area license, marked with a ^2, only says "this license + a hunting pass allows hunting on WFF land." I'm not trying to take them hunting.
I live in central Alabama, not far from Montgomery, and I am looking for people who want to train tactical shooting and do drills together. Gets kind of boring on my own, and would also like to have friends who could critique me.
Trying to get a better feel for roughing it with my kit as I get into the cospla- I mean tactical gear world.
Any secluded trails in the northern Al area within spitting distance of Huntsville Madison?
Worst case scenario I own 20+ acres a few hours south but looking for something a bit closer for regular hikes
Not planning on doing so just out of curiosity, but can you open carry long guns in alabama? For instance could I legally walk down the street with my AR or shotgun? Everything I read about open carry in alabama specifically mentions pistols. Is open and concealed carry only legal with pistols?
Not that I think it would be very smart to walk down the street with my AR but just wondering if it's legal.
I just completed building a ghost gun and I want to serialize it. How would I go about doing so
My friend has taken the guns of her husband in an attempt to keep him and her both safe when he has had too much to drink, and she gave them back because he threatened to call the cops and have her charged for “stealing them”, is she allowed to take them in an attempt to keep things from going too far without fear of being charged with stealing his guns?
With armslist costing money i am not sure where to go
Hey y'all, I live in Tuscaloosa and was wondering if there are any good places to get training within about 2-3 hours drive from me. Also I was wondering what the laws are regarding shooting on land (not ranges). Are there places where I can just go into the forest to set up targets and shoot?
Thanks
Hey fellas. Any one know of nice guys within 50 miles of Huntsville with a lotta land letting people shoot on their property? I don’t mind paying a fee. Looking for weekend or early morning stuff. Thanks.
Similar to BLM land in the midwest, are people allowed to shoot on public US National Forest land, specifically Bankhead in northern AL? If so, does anyone know any recommended spots? Not the designated shooting ranges. Preferably with safe berms, not trying to do some Bubba shit.
I am 20 years old and and looking to legally purchase a handgun. I understand that to purchase from a FFL I would have to be 21, but I would rather not wait until my next birthday rolls around. The ATF website states that you can buy a handgun from a private seller if you are 18, but I would like to verify that this is in accordance with Alabama state laws. I would appreciate any advice!
I've got a poly80 g17 with an aftermarket slide and it doesn't fit any of my g17 holsters (no surprise there). The slide itself doesn't fit any holsters when fitted to my g17 lower so I need to get a custom holster made for my Frankenstein g17. Can anyone recommend a good kydex holster maker in the HSV area?
Hello all, new to the sub and happy to be here! Some background: I'm military, retiring, and recently bought a house here in Alabama. The house is located in an unincorporated "township" and is on 1 acre. The property is a strip acre with the house located at the front of the property. The property is on the inner side of a horseshoe country road and does have a home on the other side, however, that other property is on a fairly steep incline and my intended backstop would be approximately 40' below the dwelling. The backstop would be about 20' wide and 8' tall utilizing 9' railroad ties with 45 degree wings to reach the full 20'. I plan to backfill the ties nearly level at the 8' mark with soil graded from the front of the range to obtain level ground. This should give the range an additional 2-3' of depth. I understand there will be erosion issues and I plan to address them eventually as this will be a work in progress. All that said, my questions is if this is even a viable project. My understanding of AL law is that I am free to shoot in my backyard as long as there is no city ordinance against it and my projectiles do not leave my property. I don't plan to overly annoy the neighbors, I will shoot only on weekends and during daylight hours. This property is located in an unincorporated area I believe I have the freedom to build this range but I am no expert on AL law. Before I get started I would love to hear if any of you have any insights as to whether I may be breaking any laws or would be facing any other legal issues?
