From executive producer J.J. Abrams (Fringe, Lost, Star Trek, and the recent blockbuster Super 8) comes ALCATRAZ, a thrilling new series that follows a unique trio investigating the mystifying reappearance of 302 of Alcatraz’s most notorious prisoners and guards, 50 years after they vanished.

While reading about the 1962 escape on sfgenealogy.org, I stumbled upon the transcript of an article about 2 witnesses claiming they had seen the escapees. The article dated back to june 15th, (3 days after the escape). Since I didn't find it, I bought it 3$ off an archive website. After having read it, could somebody tell me why the Robert Checchi story is everywhere and this one is nowhere on articles, Wikipedia, etc?
He was defended by a young James McGuinness, who put Alcatraz on trial. (Don't look at Murder In The First as a documentary by the way)
Whatever happened to Mr. McGuinness after the trial?
A while back someone was asking for a list of former inmates.
Well, I just found one by accident and I will link it for you here.
I am as fascinated with Alcatraz as much as you are. But I am not sure why I am interested in The Rock and Not interested in the prison that replaced Alcatraz in Marion, Illinois, or even the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, California.
So why don't Ralph Roe and Ted Cole, who also got out and were never seen again, get more attention?
I finished the show Alcatraz about a month ago and I thought it was good but I really want to know where everyone went, so what do you think.
If you want a really good mystery show with a great ending watch Wilfred on Hulu

I am also looking for suggestions on connecting with someone who may want to cover the story or dig a bit deeper as I am a very amateur researcher. I don't know who would be interested, or what to even google really. I was contacted by a TV show about 3 weeks ago and went through their hoops, but they've been kinda hush-hush on the details of the show and I also prefer to do something that was centered around the story (and not me discovering my past).
While looking for my great grandfather, I also researched his daughters, and it turns out they were bank-robbing bandits like their father. But what blew this open was coming across a book about the life of Carl Janaway, Alcatraz inmate #393, imprisoned for charges related to kidnapping and violations of the Dyer act. He was the ex-husband of my great aunt and claims that she offered to break him out, along with Ted Cole, but he declined because didn't want to be on the run anymore. So it appears Ralph Roe got that spot. The details in the book match census records and FBI reports regarding the escape, specifically noting that it was planned ahead of time, by a woman.
Any comments, tips, suggestions, or thoughts are appreciated!
(Note: this is the first website I have ever made, so go easy on me there).
I have a friend who says that growing up she knew a man who eventually went to Alcatraz. Ronald Ralph Pependrea, inmate 1452. I was wondering if there is anywhere to view inmate photos/mugshots, to see if she recognizes him.
Does anyone know where I can sell Alcatraz tickets? I forgot to return them and now it’s too late.
I was reminded of this show recently, its sad no one really seems to talk about it, it was a police procedrual that actually worked imo with the sci fi twist and I hate we never knew what was to come next.
Like I saw jonny coynes work on that show, man what an underrated actor and what a great villian he could have been as the warden, I'd imagine he'd take a page from the warden of shawshank redemption.
My grandmother isn’t alive to answer questions about this, but I’m wondering if anyone could help me find a list of wardens or staff from when it was a military prison. My great-grandfather was a Captain in the Army, and his family lived on the island when my grandmother was 2-4 years old.
Thank you in advance!
