An embroidery I made as a housewarming gift for my ex a couple of years ago!
Look I have the highest respect for Billy West and was always angry in the past when there were considerations to replace him.
But looking back at the last season, especially Fry sounds slightly different and I feel it will just get worse until a point where Billy anyway cannot continue anymore.
So I think it would be best to start thinking about recasting voices. I don’t say Billy should step down completely, since he still could voice Farnsworth and other characters, but perhaps for Fry they can start to search for a sound alike. I was skeptical also when they recasted Rick and Morty, but the last season showed that if you search for replacements, you can find some, where it’s really hard to tell the difference.
What do you think, do you think we should stick to the same actors as long as possible or already start to search replacements?
So what happens is, I watch the episode and I like it. Then I go online, see everybody hating on it, nitpicking every detail, and tearing everything apart. I get depressed, start to believe these things, and then months later I watch it again and like it even more than the first time. But then the internet people keep telling me it's garbage and not funny, and say it ruins the original show. I mean, I LOVE the new seasons. There are only two episodes I flat-out don't like out of 20.
And am I the only one that DOESN'T care about topical episodes? I mean, yeah, they might be topical right now or slightly outdated, but 10-20 years from now they will just be Futurama episodes, and the topicality won't matter. Just like how a lot of Fox episodes were topical, but people don't realize that if they watch them for the first time today. It sort of becomes just a regular Futurama episode. And the stuff people complain about is trivial.
Overall, I think the entire run is good. Not great, but good. There are some great episodes and a couple of weak episodes, but I can say that about every season. I do think people are way too harsh on this revival, and this is coming from someone who grew up on both the Fox era and the Comedy Central era. I guess new Futurama is just always bad until 10 years have passed, and then it's "actually, the Hulu run was good."
I enjoyed it, but it seems like it ended. I thought they might keep going with the Hulu era. Anyone know anything? Luke? Gabe? Izzy? Any of you on here?
Edit: mistakenly posted this in unexpected Futurama, sorry mods over there
He sounds completely fine and i do not mind his voice whatsoever. It sounds good and his delivery in season 9 is much better than season 8.
In a full re-watch and just got to The Late Philip J Fry, and after I had an urge to watch the intro theme from a certain sci-fi show from the early 2000s. But I was too lazy to type 'Cleopatra' into youtube so I just searched for 2525, and came across this gem. Such a perfect song for Futurama to parody. Finding stuff like this just makes my enjoyment of Futurama that much greater, if that were even possible. And makes me wonder what other references in the show I'm missing... anybody got any obscure good ones?
Got a little help from a medical "professional" for my wife's insulin shot last night.
