  • DO use your own discretion with spoilers, especially with titles. If a user says they're still watching the show for the first time then please use spoiler tags when necessary:>!text goes here!<, ex: text goes here.

  • DO NOT Post your personal text, facebook, DM, etc conversations. They will be removed.

  • DO NOT use hate speech/slurs or use personal attacks.

  • DO NOT Post animated gifs, please just submit the video link from YouTube or upload to Gfycat or use imgur .gifv. GIFs take larger bandwidth over video formats.

  • DO stay on topic. Posting social media updates from the cast that do not relate to the show will be removed. This is not /r/ZachBraff. Social media posts from the actors that are about the show are more than welcome. Posting things that vaguely relate to the show may be removed if blatantly off topic.

  • DO NOT Post about outside news or US or World politics. Let's keep it about the show and not what's happening in the real world.

  • YOU CAN post photos you've taken with the crew, but please post a comment giving a little back story, what was the person like, how'd you meet them, etc.

[Please help] Trying to figure out what episode this clip is from

Edit: Solved!

Hi friends,

There's a meme / clip of Elliot saying, "hahahaha .... no" and for the life of me I can't figure out what episode it's from. Is there a Scrubs expert out there that knows?

I will forever be in your debt, please and thank you. 🙏

Why Scrubs hits so hard. It’s literally a reflection of life.

Almost every newcomer will view Scrubs as a medical comedy, which it is for the most part, but then you have the moments that really hit your emotions like very few shows can in my opinion.

The moments like:

My Old Lady, losing all 3 patients

My Screw Up, Cox not wanting to accept the death of someone he actually loves until JD puts him back in to reality

My Lunch, losing 3 patients to which Cox takes tremendous guilt over

and My Last Words, where the man who’s afraid of dying is consoled by JD and Turk in his final hours

and much more

  • These moments don’t hit as hard without the comedy aspect of the show. Almost like how we live life in the most enjoyable way we can, that we don’t think about the tragedy that may come until it actually happens.

  • The show did such a good job with even distracting the viewer in regards to this. You have one episode with a tragedy and a bunch of enjoyable ones in between that you go through, laughing along and getting really invested, forgetting about the inevitable tragedy that comes next.

Such a beautifully written show. Seasons 1-8 that is.

Why did Jordan not tell Dr. Cox that Jack was his?

I’m on the end of season 2 and am confused about why it was necessary to lie to him that the baby was someone else’s. Why?

Can you help me find this episode please?

Outside, JD says something like “good day, sir.”, to the Janitor. To which the janitor replies something like “is it? Is it a good day?” And JD gets all flustered.

Been trying to find the clip for ages and google wasn’t bringing me any joy.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Thank you, Gmixy9, it is My Self-Examination. The actual quotes are;

JD. “Good morning.”

Janitor. “Is it? Is it really?”

JD. “No. I was just kidding.”

Thanks!

What are in your opinion the most outlandishly hilarious Turk moments?

For me these are the top 3:

  1. HALLELUJAH A BROTHA'S BOUT TO HAVE SOME SEX, HUH HUH, HALLELUJAH A BROTHA'S BOUT TO HAVE SOME SEEEEEEEEEEEX!!!! Smack the moneymaker.
  2. Carla: Turk is very sensitive about his manliness. Remember when I told him his backpack looked like a purse? <Flashback> Carla: Turk, I didn't mean it. Turk (crying on the bathroom floor while wearing an unusually small backpack): I'M A MAN. A MAN DOES NOT CARRY A PURSE.
  3. When competing with JD and Kylie for cutest couple and Turk decides to beat Carla at arm wrestling. "AHHHHH. DO YOU SEE WHAT YOU GET CARLA? DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MESS WITH THE WARRIOR?"

Honorable mention goes to his suggestion that the Janitor and Ted name their air band Mercyflush.

Laverne having Darryl Dawkins as her ex is funny and I wish they'd figured out how to make all the pieces fit.

On one of the EARLY episodes of "Fake Doctors, Real Friends," Bill was the guest and in between yelling "FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT!!" to kick off the theme song and annoy the hell out of Zach, somehow Zach started talking about how he and his dad would go see the New Jersey Nets play at the Meadowlands Arena and Donald and Bill were all, "Come on dude, like I bet you can't even name any of the players on the team," and Zach reeled off some names of actual NBA players including Darryl Dawkins, which led to a digression about Dawkins shattering backboards with his dunks and his love of giving himself a bunch of nicknames, like Chocolate Thunder as well as naming his various dunks.

This led to Bill saying that the writers room had an idea for Darryl Dawkins to somehow end up as a patient at Sacred Fart and it was an issue because in universe he and Laverne had been a couple.

Unfortunately, for 'reasons', they were never able to make the pieces fit so now it only exists in our minds and fan fiction.

I’m creating a song playlist and need a cover photo, any suggestions?

Rewatching scrubs again, I thought a fun thing to do would to be add any songs that pop up that I really love to a Spotify playlist. On Spotify, you can add a photo to be the “album cover”.

There are so many iconic stills from the series and was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions I could use?

Bonus points if the screen cap is relevant to music/listening to music!

My Persona Theory on Why JD is Such a Gifted Physician

Edit: Personal, not persona :(

Although Scrubs is a comedy(-drama), I think it’s heavily implied that JD is an exceptionally gifted internal medicine physician. His diagnostic skill is clear from the first season and is a recurring theme.

Obviously, guy is very smart and went to school for medicine, so it makes sense he would be very good.

But here’s my headcanon:

JD’s daydreams are an integral part of what makes him such a good doctor.

When he’s giving Eliot “tips” about diagnosing, he actually explicates this part of his diagnostic process a little bit. He says something to the effect of, “you have to pretend you’re there and visualize every angle” as he evaluates a pile of sugar packets on the ground.

When you think about it, the vividness of JD’s hallucinations is abnormal. It’s a joke and a cornerstone of the show’s unique brand of comedy.

BUT, if you take the show at face value, then we have to acknowledge that it’s abnormal how JD can visualize faces perfectly and construct complex visualizations and stories in his head within just a few seconds of “daydreaming.”

This is also noted as a quality he’s possessed from a very young age. Both his dad and brother acknowledge that he has done that since childhood.

Anyway, that’s my little theory. JD has an exceptional gift for visualization, which he leverages to understand the human body and come up with creative diagnoses that allow him to elevate his career throughout the series.

Scrubs after Ted Lasso and Shrinking.

Hey everyone, I have enjoyed Bill Lawrence comedies since Spin City. Scrubs was my fave for ages, now it's up there with Shrinking and Ted Lasso. After watching the latter two I was wondering what would Scrubs be like with swearing? It sounds like it would crack me up even more.

Currently on a Scrubs rewatch, and I absolutely forgot how funny Turk is here, screaming over the very serious issue of a man’s undiagnosed pain. Spit out my beer and everything lmao.

If given the choice, would you prefer if the Scrubs revival was TV-14 like the original series or TV-MA like Ted Lasso?

Hi Scrubs fans.

Hope you’re all doing well.

My favorite sitcom of all time. Divided about the revival, but will watch and hope it’s awesome. I know it’s expected to be on ABC.

i generally prefer keeping to the purity of anything, so suddenly introducing curse words and other things that are more than mild and making it feel like Ted Lasso or Bad Monkey, I just wouldn’t be a fan of it.

What about you?

I just watched Scrubs for the first time

I just watched this show for the first time. All 8 seasons (Yes I also watched season 9 but it never happened, shut up lol. It didn’t ruin it at all for me tbh)

I’ve heard about the show a lot but I just never got around to it. It’s probably my favorite show of all time (so far).

I’ve never seen a show that could balance comedy, drama, and tragedy in the way they did it and it worked so well. It’s the first show where I really felt connected with each character.

The ending really hurt man. Cox allowing JD to hug him multiple times without verbally getting upset, My Screw Up and My Lunch, the episode where JD and Turk sat and talked with the man who was afraid of dying are just a few examples that got to me pretty hard.

The music on that show was excellent as well. Every song was chosen perfectly for each moment.

Now it’s been 4 days since I watched My Finale and I’m still just as sad that it’s over lol.

If they can figure out a way for a reboot that can make sense for the storyline, even if it’s just a movie or a mini series to lessen the workload since all the cast is older now, I hope it happens. (RIP Sam Lloyd)

I heard Bill Lawrence said it will probably happen? PLEASE!

Jordan appreciation

For a show with its fair share of attractive co and guest stars, I gotta give a Crazy Lady High Five to Christa Miller for being so damned hot for the whole run of the show.

The Episode That Made Me Realize I Have Facial Blindness.

"My Mirror Image."

I watch Scrubs at least once every couple of years - probably average a full rewatch once yearly.

I always thought it was super neat how the three patients, who serve as reflections of the flaws of the people treating them (in the Janitor's case, just talking to them), all seem to morph so easily into the faces of the doctors (and Janitor).

Been watching the show with my fiancé. I have real trouble recognizing characters in disguise in episodes. American Horror Story? Absolute American Shitshow for me, because a couple of the recurring actresses change their hair and I can't recognize them for several episodes each season.

But today we're watching this episode.

Fiancé: Is that Zach Braff in a wig?

Me: Damn, you caught the theme of this one fast.

Her: No, like it's the actor in a wig.

Me: No it isn't lol

She definitely got me when the Janitor's foil showed up, and then the Dr. Cox analog.

Swear to God man I've watched this episode so many times and I never would have guessed it's the same actors. Crazy world

Fake Doctors, Real Friends Discussion: Ted McGinley was Almost Dr. Cox?!

Ted McGinley was Almost Dr. Cox?!

January 28, 2024 • 79 mins

Ted McGinley is not a great auditioner. He's got dyslexia and the process of presenting for strangers doesn't come naturally to him. But once he has the job, he's golden. His long career is proof enough. He's the guy, for decades, that was brough into a sitcom to pump up a dying series. He did it for Happy Days, Married with Children and The Love Boat. These were major projects in their era and McGinley helped save them from irrelavance. He tells Zach and Donald about traveling first class on the Love Boat and hunting nerds in Revenge of the Nerds. Plus, what it's like to play Proto Bill in Shrinking while Bill's wife plays his wife.

The Jill Storyline Always Makes Me Especially Sad.

This show has lots of tearjerkers, but this one is especially tough to deal with.

Dr. Cox and JD learned their lesson with Jill - this exact lesson - the second time they met her in the hospital. They even had a big recap and seemed to learn from their mistake of not listening and seeing her.

This context is admittedly different. They met her this time outside of the hospital, and she was not actively seeking care.

Still, it really stings because, despite how busy they both were, at least JD had all the information he needed to know that she was struggling. She has chronic depression and tried to kill herself the last time you saw her.

The show does a generally good job of reminding both characters periodically of this problem, and Cox's downward spiral in the episode that follows is interesting. Although, I do think it was an interesting choice to have him spiral over the death of his three patients - but not to focus more on JD's guilt.

Huge fan of these episodes, just got through this one on a rewatch and it's one of my favorites - but definitely hurts to see.

EDIT: Not deleting - must accept my shame. The entire point of the episode's twist is that Jill didn't die from suicide.

Theory why Kelso calls Turk "Turkleton"

I was scrolling Reddit and saw some post about Kris Kristofferson. Searched more info, learned that he was a country singer, thought "What an unusual name". And then it hit me: this guy must be the reason why Kelso calls Turk "Turkleton"! Kelso was a country singer himself, so he's fond of that type of music and must likely knows about Kristofferson, Turk's first name is Chris, and everyone at the hospital refer to him by his last name. So Kelso might be using "Turkleton" in a joking way, or just mixed up Turk's first and last names and made up "Turkleton" as reference to one of the country legends.

I don't like Laverne and hate how writers ruined Laverne

NOTE: I probably should've made it more clear in the title but, some people got the impression that I don't like Laverne because she's religious, but that's not true. I liked Laverne but her inconsistent portrayal on S6E14 made me dislike her for changing her character to a different person, just to create drama.

Even though I'm an atheist (who also despises religions) I liked Laverne during the first few seasons. She was really giving the black, overworked, underpaid nurse vibe with her IDGAF attitude, her gossiping, her mini TV and of course her above ground pool party. And even though she usually annoyed other people by not minding her own beeswax and being a busybody in general, that was her character and most people liked that. And all of a sudden she became an angel, a messenger of god on S6E14 - "My No Good Reason". She started acting like she wasn't the annoying religion-pusher over 6 seasons and at some point even blamed Dr. Cox saying he's bullying about her religion (which as I said what she did for the entire series up to that point and even at the beginning of this episode too) just to add a dramatic finale to the episode when she gets hit by a car and dies. Even if Bill Lawrence thought the show was ending, this is just trying to get people to care about Laverne through emotional manipulation. And even with all these happened I don't think most people felt the way, Bill intended. That's because Laverne really is not that important of a character. We never saw any in depth stories about her and never even got to empathize with her up-to this point in the show. So all this effort to make people care for Laverne's death was in vain, and make some people dislike her even more. Because it was forced, inorganic and very, very hypocritical.

P.S. this is probably my 20-25th rerun of the show over 6-7 years.
