Hi, I am hoping you can help me or I will need to cancel my DIRECT TV service. I've been a loyal customer for over 6 years, and recently my $65/month credit expired on my account. I cannot pay the new $122.78 Direct TV bill. I am a senior citizen. I really need your help to look for any available credits on my account so that I can continue to be a happy Direct TV customer. Thanks in advance for all of your help, I appreciate it!
My directv contract expires next month. Are there any contract renewal discounts or deals available right now to keep it?
Any ideas why my receivers keep losing the guide info Didn’t used to have the issue and now it seems to be constant. Reset the receiver and it will have it for a short period and then nothing again
I am a premier subscriber from Cleveland, OH. I also sub to nhl center ice.
I know some games are on other streaming services but I have always got TnT games. I pay for that channel!
Tonights penguins - utah game was blacked out. I guess $250 a month isn't enough!
So we have a food service business. And we currently have Xfinity, which is super expensive. I never really like DIRECTV because you needed a dish, but I’ve researched it and they now gemini air so you don’t need a dish. From what I can tell.
Can you use that for businesses? I know technically businesses can’t use like YouTube TV or like streaming platforms because of publishing laws and stuff like that, but can we use gemini air so we don’t need a dish? Or is that technically only for household use? Thank you so much.
Decided to cancel DIRECTV because of monthly bill of $200. Switched to YouTube TV with Roku ultra. Called DIRECTV today to cancel the service but was told I will be Billed for another 30 days according to the customer agreement. This is such a rip off for another $200 that I hate to pay. I can’t wait to return the dusty boxes and remotes. Has anyone been able to avoid the last 30 days of payment? I went online to delete my auto pay which was due today, but was unable to delete the auto payment . I was wondering if I can dispute the payment with my credit card company? Does anyone have ideas on how to avoid paying another $200 to DIRECTV?
Hi, i eant to install a directv antenna in a building can i combine rg59 and rg6 in the installation? Thank you

I changed my cell phone plan from a grandfathered unlimited to ATT’s regular unlimited plan back in 2014 because of the promise of receiving HBO free for life. Last I checked, I still alive and should continue to receive HBO for free.
Guess it’s time to switch to Verizon or TMobile and drop DirecTV completely (just pay for streaming).
i only joined this sub for anyone who was wondering about the old school visuals on the directv music channels. it took a while but i finally found someone uploaded footage of it.
I am paying $166 per month for choice. Thats before the regional sports fee of $15.99. I have called and asked for a discount but they will only give me about $10 off for 6 months. Looking on the internet I see people talking about $92 a month, $89 a month, etc.
If these other prices are available how do I get them? I have asked to speak to customer retention, but again they are not budging.
Everything was working fine up until this afternoon. Phone automatically logged me out but reconnected no problem. Came home to find my firestick logged me out as well but trying with the QR code and my password gives me a Hmm... somethings wrong. Try again [Code: 0210] error message. Phone app is now doing it, too. Anyone know what it means?
Advice needed before I get on a chat w/ Dtv.
We’ve been with DtV Satellite PREMIUM since 2008 and FINALLY upgraded equipment in 2021 to Genie DVR (HR54), 3 genie mini (C61) one new set top box (H24 100 from prob an H23). One set top box (H23 600) was kept but mysteriously died 4 days after the genies were set up by the tech and was replaced with H24-700. I moved this H24 to my OLD Sharp not smart tv and I can’t connect w/ HDMI (tried 3 cables); the genie did connect with RCA cables when the tech installed in 2021 but this box doesn’t have the round serial cable connection (I think that’s what it’s called).
My equipment is fine (except that H24 I noticed got really hot after I moved it to older TV). I need to advice on viewing plans (current monthly is $320). My husband has passed and he NEEDED the football channels (NFL, Red Zone, [esp when DTV got rid of Sunday Ticket] AND College Football) I NEED the premiums: HBO (I guess it’s MAX now), CINEMAX, SHOWTIME, STARZ, TMC, etc (I watch too many premium shows). There is one person on a genie that is willing to pay the difference if I decided to cancel the sports shit.
If I downgrade my package to the lowest entertainment package *($75) add my premiums ($59) which would save me about $186 but I’d prob be hooked in to a contract. I never cared about that but now he’s gone, I may not be here for a two year contract but I could leave that in my will :P If I keep our current package, I’m guessing I should charge the sports fan about $150 to keep the premium.
*It’s really hard to read the print out of the package comparisons; I need large print.
If you're not claiming these perks, you need to. So far, I have gotten $15 off the last three bills, and just claimed a $60 visa debit card.
The guide on my mini genie has at least 50+ ads for movie rentals , upcoming events, etc. They are all in a row, so it takes awhile to get thru all of them. I've been in contact with customer support and even replaced the actual mini genie box. Nothing works and Directv has given up.
My parents have had DirecTV satellite for the past 15 years (HD XTRA plan) and it seems like they always get free NBA league pass, NHL center ice, MLB extra innings, etc. as a “thank you for being a loyal customer” thing. I’m moving to a new place and considering getting a DirecTV satellite plan (choice) and wondering, would I get anything like this as a new customer?
My father-in-law has had DirecTV via Satelllite for several years now. He recently asked me to help cut down on some of his expenses and when I looked at his DTV bill, I was astounded!! He is on an old plan (XTRA ALL INCLUDED) with an HR 44-500 receiver and 5 C61-200 client boxes (6 total) paying a bill that totals $240.60 per month.
His one main traditional alternative TV provider would be XFINITY and although I'm willing to explore this as an option, I think that radically changing the TV interface on an 78-year-old man would be too confusing. So, that leaves me with exploring the options that DirecTV provides. I've spent some time looking into the three options that seem to be available (DirecTV via Satellite, via Internet, and STREAM). I'd like to lay out my understanding of the options and ask some questions for clarification. Please correct any mistakes or inaccuracies.
These are my main takeaways from my research into the different DirecTV service options. I think I'm leaning more towards SAT or INT, as they both provide the instant DirecTV experience when you turn the TV on. Please correct any mistakes and let me know if I'm missing anything.
Several times in the last couple of months , I've turned on my TV to be greeted with "Your TV does not support this program's content protection" on all channels. I can reboot the DirecTv receiver (HR54-500) and everything will be fine for a while. That's pretty inconvenient tho b/c the reboot takes what seems like forever. What's going on with this?
Greetings, hoping for help here. My DTV receiver (and both minis in other parts of the house are experiencing a one minute or more lag between keypresses on remotes and the action being shown on the screen. I'm talking guide, exit, menu, numbers, etc.
It's been getting progressively worse over about the last two months. Tried all combinations of resetting, rebooting, etc. What in the world is going on I can be right next to the box and press guide and nothing happens for a minute then the guide appears.
Talked to a very nice tech just now who said it was the wires in my house and I needed a service call but I can't wrap my head around how it is the same symptom on the receiver and two minis. I am satellite, not stream or internet.
Any advice is appreciated, I will have to cancel if this doesn't get resolved.
My Gemini has multiple issues and this is my third one. DIRECTV claims they have no known issues. Mine restarts constantly when switching channels. Or just restarts on its own Also freezes so I have to reset at least twice a day. Nothing seems to fix the problems. Anyone else leaving these issues or know any fix. Hardwired to satellite and using 2.4 internet. Tried 5 ghz but caused more trouble. Thx.
I am no longer a customer of Direct TV starting this month (due to bill increase) but am still getting calls supposedly by Direct TV (even as a customer, I was still getting these calls every month, & they will keep calling you everyday until you pick up as you can see ^) When I do pick up, it’s a salesman or saleswoman stating that they’re from Direct TV and wanted to inform me that I have a promotion and am eligible to get a certain channel for free up to 3 months. It’s getting annoying, because no matter how many times I’ve told them no, blocked their number, or asked nicely to be removed from their call list… they always find a way to contact me EVERY MONTH.
My parents who are in their 80’s have 2 DirectTV H-23 receivers that are over 10 years old. They don’t like change and would want a newer receiver that would basically work the same way. They are not interested in anything sophisticated just a basic receiver. They aren’t interested in a DVR. Does DirecTV have a newer receiver similar to the H-23?
I was a former customer of DTV and enjoyed their service. I moved to a new area out of state in October last year and cancelled my service at the old address. For the past 3 months, I've been getting statements saying they owe me a credit, but never included a check. So today I attempted to call and sort out what was going on.
I called the number printed on the statement and after wrestling with the automated service, I was told it was going to be a 20 min wait. About 40 minutes later I was still on hold and thought I would try to call from another line and said I wanted to place an order for new service and there was zero wait time. I explained to the representative my question and she had to transfer me to someone else but that only took a few minutes. I was half-way through getting it sorted when the first call was finally answered after 45 minutes on hold.
It seems whenever I have to call ATT, its the exact same experience. at least 30 -40 minutes or longer waiting.
So a good tip if anyone needs to call for service on your account, just say you want to buy something and they will answer very quickly.
My observation has informed me that they sales force is well staffed because they want to get your account, but after they have it, calls are routed to 3rd party contract call centers with garbage wages, benefits, and high turnover making for unnecessary wait times.
Please do better by your customers.
Just out of curiosity has anyone ever been successful in connecting to the wireless video bridge using an extender or otherwise running the the WVB over the Ethernet port and through your network? I know when I had Dishnetwork I could run their Video bridge using Ethernet over my network but directvs is a bit different in the effect it uses coax networking between the Genie and the WVB with a splitter of sorts. I’m a tech freak and sometimes my mind wonders lol
Anyone else having issues watching the oilers game on tnt? I’ve got satellite with the genie 2 and 4k mini and the quality keeps dropping.
Just checking to see if this is my setup or if anyone else is experiencing this. Seems like the signal on tnt has been pretty crappy for this game even with 98+ transponder reception on satellite 101.
What have the done to my channel guide? Why did the eliminate the icons or logos? I can't make heads or tails of the guide now. This is more than frustrating. I had to go to search just to find a channel I watch everyday after work.
Georgetown, TX no channels at all. Completely reset the Genie Air device and still same issue. Apparently this is starting to show up within the last hour on Downdetector.com and other websites also. Thank God I'm not missing a playoff game for this BS.
I have HR54-500 and wanted to add another receiver. Called DirecTV and they claim there is no self install option available which will result in 24 month contract instead of 12 but free truck roll. Ugh, thanks but no thanks. Is there really no self install available or is DirectTV just trying to get me into another 24 months contract?
Getting very confused by the similarly named but different (Directv Stream vs regular directv that uses the internet) + also struggling to figure out positives and negatives of using a dish vs over internet service.... Also hard as it seems like their pricing and product offering has changed fairly recently so many posts that are more than a couple months old aren't current. Here's my situation:
- Have ability to mount a dish but also open to stream (either with regular directv over internet or directv stream). Only benefit I see to dish is less lag on live sports but not sure if I am missing something. I have 2.4gbit Verizon Fios. But could be missing something?
- Understand 2 year commitment vs no commitment in the two internet-based options... Looking today at reg directv internet the choice package with one Gemini air the prices are also similar vs. Stream. I think its $3 less per month for first 24 months vs stream but then goes up $10 after promo price runs out. Stream does save you $60 in first 3 months with a promo price though. Although stream can also go up whenever without a price guarantee. A 2 year commitment is obviously a commitment but it also guarantees price for 2 years vs Stream that can go up at anytime (but can also be cancelled at anytime).
- Lots of people say Directv Stream is better than Directv over internet but I am struggling to think of a reason now why based on pricing other than commitment issues? I hear mention of the local sports other fees but I am comparing post-fee pricing above. Also struggling to find a distinct difference between dish and internet for non-stream service providing high speed internet access is a given. Am I missing something?
Other questions:
- I have two TVs but only frequently use one - am I correct that if I subscribe to either over internet option, I can go on ebay and buy a C71KW-400/Gemini/Ospray/Gemini Air box and use it on the 2nd TV? I would rather pay once for a box then lease one for an extra $7 a month in perpetuity based on their cost?
- If someone says a dish is better than one of the internet options for some reason, can you also add internet based boxes and use them even with a dish based account on your main TV?
- Is there any difference between Stream and regular over internet for use outside the house?
- I can't see any differences in channel lineup between the 3 options (sat/internet/stream) but am I missing anything?
- Is the experience using the app (e.g. on smart TV, fire, roku, android) the same regardless of service?
Thanks for any help!
