Was going to title this "worst Adult Swim character", but people would probably think I am referring to which character is written the worst instead of which character has done the worst to others. So to reiterate, which character (whether from an original, anime or syndicated show) is the worst person imaginable?
Any time it's marketed or I mention the show on adult swim's social media or sometimes on this sub, people talk about how "it sucks" (without explaning why). I found the show to be pretty hilarious. It's a lot like Smiling Friends but with a drunk asshole and a kind person who's naive to cringe culture. It also has an incel-like character who kind of reminded me of Chris Chan with how he's constantly on a "quest" to win the protagonist, which I thought was funny. There's a mix of different animation styles as well as live action segments, and more musical aspects. It gets serialized later on as well.
I don't think the second season is perfect with its overarching story, so I can understand disliking that, but I kind of get the sense that some people either just assume it's a generic bad adult cartoon and haven't actually seen it (the title probably makes it seem unaware of outdated trends too), or just hate it because it has a female protagonist to be honest (call me "woke" if you want, Idc).
In season 1, episode 5 of Royal Crackers, during the end credits a song briefly plays. And it kicks ass. And I can't find what song it is anywhere. I saw that Frank Ciampi did the music for the episode but didn't find that song anywhere thru him either.
The song goes something like "..and if I tell you I love you, would you even care..." and it's like a 80s trash punk sound.
I have a slightly crazy theory about the April Fools jokes. You see, on March 1 of this year, an alleged leak of a Pibby storyboard was uploaded. My theory is that on April 1, at least the first episode of Pibby will be released and The channel that uploaded the leaks is actually the creator of pibby and that all that about it being practically canceled was a lie. I have several proofs of why I think it is like that. 1 The titles of the videos instead of being something like pibby leak are title like smiles darkness with a sinister like distorted font
2 The videos, although they seem legitimate, were not eliminated by Turnercni, Warnes or Adult Swim due to copyright, as would happen if it were a real leak or if it were made without authorization from Aduly Swim.
3 and the most important, the video was uploaded on March 1, just a month before April 1, where also two years ago was the last time we saw anything related to Pibby on the channel.
Seems like everyone is into Taint these days.
Season 1 and half of 2?
when i first saw someone post about it, i had to check the schedule because i thought it was a joke, fucking godzilla on adult swim was the last thing i would expect
I found this gif at work and have been sending it to my co-workers to creep them out, but what is it from and does he have a name? It's just titled "awkward laugh - adult swim"
I have 2 general admission tickets to this show. I cannot resale them. If someone can put them to good use, send me a PM. Nicest person gets them.
I got curious and looked if there was a Japanese dub then thought to post this.
Whats everyone’s predictions/hopes for this years april fools? Last years was ok but tbh was lacking compared to past ones imo. I know they’re gonna premiere the new season of smiling friends (Which I love!!) but I don’t think they would redo what they did before and just air the entire season again without warning. (It would be predictable)and tbh I hope they don’t I can wait for new episodes and savor tuning in to watch them either on max or AS. Plus april fools only comes once a year. Heres my predictions/hopes in order of most likely to least likely to happen!! Predictions 1:Celebrity bumps. Kinda like posts ping pong game 2:Something completely new! 3:Edited Episodes and bumps,Cats/mustaches/pibby’s glitchs 4:The Room, Iykyk 5:A new show/mini movie 6:Smiling friends themed night/marathon, I know I just said they probably wont, but they do repeat sometimes. Cough, cough (The Room) Hopes 1:Blast from the past, One night of og bumps shows and cameos from AS past! 2:Something new!, cant really specify cause idk wth they would do. 3:Interactive night, Votes on AS socials for viewers to control the night! 4:Hijack!, AS is hijacked by a hacker. Think max headroom or captain midnight. eerie shit 5: Pibby, Surprise release of a pibby mini show/movie.
I remember when the pilot for RC got put up on YouTube and I watched it out of curiosity. Besides a few standout hilarious jokes (the stairs bit and the dead celebrities), I found the rest of the show to be unfunny and too cynical.
However, I've noticed a rather vocal amount of people on this subreddit are big fans of the show. I want to ask you, does the show get better from that episode? Or was my reaction more reflective of my taste in shows and that it probably just isn't for me?
(Not trying to be a hater btw, genuinely curious if the show's worth another shot for me)
The episode was missing a resolution like all the episodes this season have been. But this was the first episode in Season 2 that felt like it HAD a resolution, just one it didn't show us. I was waiting for the big reveal scene which never came - which I found extremely bizarre. But I feel the show was leading us to this - was Darby unable to be at Doris's trial because he was taking care of Theo after his first Jackhang? All the parts are there. Why the show didn't make it clear, I have no idea. It's the only possibility that would make these unconnected events make sense.
Doris seems like she has a lot left to tell, but Royal Crackers hasn't shown that it is a show that builds on previous episodes. And the only time we did have a recurring character - their second appearance was wildly different!! And even if this was revealed in a future episode, would it have any impact separated from this episode? Or would it feel right to have a sequel episode following up on the same topics? Next week's episode looks like it goes right back to business as usual, making any progress from this episode meaningless. Especially since S1E9's ending already was ignored, as it would have erased the entire plot of this episode.
So I am left confused by the show. But Bro Down was the best episode of Season 2 yet. It was closer to a Season 1 episode. But Season 1's episodes ALL had tighter plots with endings. Hopefully they renew this for a Season 3 and this show can show us what it's trying to do. And can we freaking get more than 10 episode seasons? It's so cheap of Adult Swim!!
