The Roxanne post made me look up the song Daybreak and if it's not already common knowledge on this sub, please go check out Michael Haggis' Daybreak on YouTube. The comments section is hilarious.
And it's Pierce. It's not Chevy. He delivers the lines great. It's the writing of his character. It's over the top and I'm starting to dislike the show because of it.
Every time I boot the show up and be like "ok, I hope this isn't a Pierce-centric episode", it unfortunately is and I'm kind of tired of his over the top evilness. He was better in season 1 where his bad character was shown through one liners and the plot wasn't based around it.
I'm saying this after watching the trampoline episode and the DnD episode. Maybe that's the worst it gets, but it's turning me off from the show.
I was just thinking about this.. maybe it means nothing, maybe they chose randomly, but we are talking about a show with so many subtleties so.. why was this one the song chosen for the episode?
Just so dam funny. I have to pause it often for laugh bursts. So enjoyable.
I don't agree with everything, & that is kind of the point. Very thankful. 🤩✌️
Sometimes season 4 is considered the black sheep of the fandom, but I really enjoyed a few episodes. Anyone have any favorite moments/episodes from that particular season?
Mine is Glee with Abed and Mr. Rad (i love all of them tho)
I watched Netflix’s “A Man on The Inside” recently, and one of the supporting characters was an older irascible man played wonderfully by character actor John Getz. I thought immediately that he’d have made an ideal Pierce Hawthorne!
Curious the path the show might have taken if they hadn’t had to deal with all of Chevy’s offscreen antics, and if Pierce had remained throughout the entire run.
(AMOTI was terrific…highly recommend!)
Could you imagine Larry David in an episode of Community, the comedic potential is off the charts
Hey all,
It's my first time watching through the show and I'm up to s3e16.
So far, enjoying it a lot. To the point that I regret waiting until now to watch it.
What I'd like to know is - what upcoming episodes/seasons should I pay particular attention to?
What's your favourite episode that I have coming up?
I've heard that s4 isn't spectacular, but I'm determined to push through to the end.
I particularly like Annie, Abed and Troy - did your favourite characters change from when you started watching? Are there new people coming up that you think are great?
My dog Narla watches with me, here's a pic of her for your troubles!
I can't remember any specific reference to either. What do you think he'd say abour it?
She had this cup she got for free a long time ago and I never watched community so I didn’t know what it was but when I started watching the show and heard “TROY AND ABED IN THE MOOORNING” and saw the cup I yelled at the top of my lungs
Super
Any idea where the best place to sell or determine value is?
One of my favorite things about “Community” are the episode titles, but I could never understand why this one was called “Basic Lupine Urology”, despite it being in my top-10 episodes of the whole series.
I know the definitions of those words, but the episode didn’t feature any wolves, nor did it feature anything related to urology. Every other episode’s title directly referenced the main events of the episode, except this one.
But during my most recent rewatch, it finally clicked! “Basic Lupine Urology” is an homage to “Law and Order”.
“Lupine” = wolf, or wolf-like
“Urology” = medical field related to your urinary tract, aka your dick.
And who’s the creator of “Law and Order”?
DICK WOLF
Since he becomes a famous movie directory. Would also love a short scene where the Community College Chronicles are viewed as a hidden gem by Fans
I'm new to Community and have been enjoying the pleasure of watching for the first time. It's been great thus far; the writing is palpably good and timelessly funny. But holy shit, S2E8, when Annie is convinced that someone stole her pen, is so impressively well-written.
Every single character's individuality is so masterfully put on display. Annie being exceedingly rigid about a pen, Britta being annoyingly virtuous, Troy having nothing but a pillow in his backpack and unironically thinking a ghost is the thief, Shirley judging Britta for carrying condoms while she herself is actively having a pregnancy scare, Jeff slowly losing his mind, Pierce immediately unbottoning his shirt when he thinks there's gonna be an orgy, and Abed just accepting and going along with the shenanigans (not to mention the adorably misguided reason he's been tracking the women's cycles, and it answering why he "randomly" offered Annie chocolate in the opening).
It's just so good, and of course the acting/delivery plays a big role, but there are just so many little details in the writing that make this episode stand out and serve as a great example for not only comedy writing but character and story building
I really would like to see the identity of the ass crack bandit and hope they at least mention it in the movie, anyone else?
