Hi! I have this vivid memory of an old VHS (90s) with a short puppet "movie" that went on something like this :
At night in this house/attic, a toy puppet lion wearing a jacket and glasses comes alive, and starts reading Hansel & Gretel's story.
Then we see the story itself, that is also made with puppets/marionettes. The background is mostly black.
I have a vague feeling that it was connected to the 1995 "The 3 little pigs movie" VHS
The only thing I'm sure of, is that IT'S NOT "In between the lions"
I'm from Italy if that helps in any way
Thank you
Let's Talk, share clips. Cmon 90s kids...
I have seen this work on the Graphic Novel sub so I thought I’d give this a go here. It’s something that’s been bothering me for over a decade. I need help identifying a cartoon from my childhood.
It was a medieval themed show, however it had futuristic elements. The main protagonists were knights, but their horses were jet bikes/hover bikes and shot missiles. Animation was in a similar style to Biker Mice From Mars.
If someone can help me find the name of this cartoon I’d be eternally grateful.
I have this on iTunes. What would you compare it to? I've only watched maybe one episode.
Hello! This is r/90scartoons Weekly Discussion Thread! You can can discuss '90s cartoons here, duh.
Feel free to ask questions, talk about your favorite cartoons, share your artwork, etc...
Probably the only non anime series that I've seen in its entirety. For me, It was the first cartoon that emphasized "death was not a game."
I have this distinct memory of Johnny Bravo saying “dance with me mama” or “dance with me pretty baby/lady”. It’s definitely not the “do the monkey with me” sound bite. I used to watch this show growing up but I cannot for the life of me find the clip on YouTube.
Why do I need this clip? Other than to prove I’m not create false memories, I need to make a cursed audio with it.
Can anyone help?
SOLVED! It was Archie and the Riverdale Vampires. You can find the "redhead" at 24:28 on Youtube at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6JbUokQ31s
Real quick: I originally posted this on r/tipofmytongue, but figured I'd post it here since ya'll might have a few more answers.
Quick disclaimer: I remember this being described as a show, but it could be a movie. I'm only pretty sure it was a show.
My dad once showed me a VHS of a cartoon that he claimed was a "Scooby-Doo Knockoff" and something he liked as a kid. Clearly, he didn't like it that much because he had no recollection of it the last time I asked. The animation looked 90's-ish, almost Mighty Max (I don't think it was Mighty Max). The cover showed the three (?) main characters (Guy, 2 girls) with a vampire in the background.
If memory serves me right, the cartoon was about a group of kids who end up discovering that vampires were real and decide to hunt them. There could have been other monsters, but I didn't watch nor pay attention that much to it. The main character was your typical male lead in these types of shows, adventurous and a little goofy but otherwise inoffensive. I believe the other two mains were female.
Outside of the general plot, the only thing that I could remember was that the male lead (probably blond) was being hit on by this one ginger girl. I remember it specifically because one of the female leads (blond as well, I think) who clearly also had a crush on him and was jealous would only ever refer to her as "the redhead" in a mocking tone. I am not kidding you when I say that I'm pretty sure she said that a dozen times in the first episode alone.
I've tried searching up 90's monster hunter cartoons and vampire cartoons, but nothing rings a bell. I thought this one called Ketchup Vampires was pretty similar looking, but its plot doesn't seem to be similar to it in the slightlest. Could use someone with more expertise than me in putting this mystery to rest.
Added edits:
-I remember watching about 2 and a half episodes worth of the show, which is why I don't believe it is a movie.
-Our basement TV (where I watched it) didn't have a dvd player so I'm almost certain it was on VHS.
-It is not Martin Mystery
-To further add to the art style: It was not anime and not Hannah Barbera. My best time range guess is late 80s to early 90s with more of a hint of the 90s. Basically, it wasn't crusty enough to be 80s based but also not clean enough to be late 90s/early 2000s unless it was just extremely low budget. As I mentioned, Mighty Max was close in art style, but I could almost say it was a weird combination of that mixed with Magic School bus.
