"Now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything, and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together. It's Arrested Development."

David Cross is an amazing actor, and with the state of the AD cast being as it is maybe the best we can hope for as AD fans is an epic Tobias series that explores his life after the Bluths, after leaving Lindsey.
Alia Shawkat could make guest appearances and the rest of the cast wouldn't be needed
Who else things this could be great šš??

When I feed my cat, I tell her she's getting Ike and Tina Tuna. And I ask Plate or Platter? She just meows, but the way she does it, I translate it to "I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it."
Iām on my millionth rewatch, but I donāt get the joke with FAO al-Jibaaly Muhammed a-Abat, who owns the shop that Buster works in.
Online it suggests this is a reference to American toy store FAO Schwarz, but is that really it? Is there not some joke about the name that Iām missing?
title. just saw it again and had to explain the joke but i guess itās mapping here now. and i saw an ostrich at the zoo a few days ago. Thatās not a coincidence. Currently booking passage to shuturmurg, india.
Season 4 is a lot of things. But George Michaelās choice of Lock Screen is hilarious. 4.16
This has to be intentional... It just has to!
balls. Saw this elsewhere
How long would it take to watch the complete seasons 1-3 in a single sitting?
[update] after several router restarts, everything is right again with the universe. What happened? I don't know, just happy to get back to viewing.
So I'm in the Netherlands and was busy watching Arrested Development. Was really enjoying it, but all of a sudden this weekend it just disappeared off Netflix. It says it's no longer available in my region. I can't find any sort of official announcement about it, does anyone know if it was actually removed or is something just wrong with my account?
Picture is from the browser, on my chromecast it says not available in the region
In S01E10 Pier Pressure, there's a very clever joke that took me multiple viewings to get (it was around 17 years ago as a teenager...). And since I discovered this community recently, I'd like to appreciate the joke with you and over-analize it :)
So... Maeby is punished and sent to spend time with Lucille.
Their scene together opens with Lucille holding jewelry and saying "and this is from when Pop-Pop yelled out, āOh Melanie!ā when he was making love to Gangy" A little while later she holds the elephant broche and says "ah yes the week when we had the au pair."
In a later scene Lindsay sees the broche on Maeby and protests: " That was supposed to be for me. She was my au pair. Iām the one who cleared my throat and pointed to the laundry room!"
I just love this so much! I love the sophistication that you need to come to a small conclusion from every sentence, that is a needed cotext for the next. I love that there's nothing forced about the joke, and it connects brilliantly with the story. And I especially love that they manage to paint such a rich image of the Bluth family dynamic in only 3 spoken sentences! (even though we already knew some of it):
IMO, those are the kind of things that make AD really stand out above the rest.
What are some other examples of sophisticated jokes that reveal a lot of information about the characters?
In the "On the next" section, does anyone know the name of the song that plays in the background?
Who plays Red McGibbon in "Ready, Aim, Marry Me?" I've always thought it looked like Will Ferrell.
Somehow even after 20 watch throughs, Iām always impressed by the Pilot. I think it has a ton of heart and relatability with its comedy, and really thatās when the show is at its best.
Those first three are so tight and memorable, itās hard to believe they came out of the gate with that- it like arrived on air fully formed.
Even many shows I LOVE stumble thru the first 4 or more.
Do I just feel this way because Iāve seen the whole series?
Iām always surprised how well everyone nailed their character right from the beginning.
As Gob is prancing about before making the yacht disappear, there is a cutaway to Lucille digging through Anyong's pockets for her keys and the boy is looking down and having minor convulsions. I always assumed there was a joke to explain it that ended up being cut. Does anyone know what that was about?
i watched some of season 4 and the jokes just weren't hitting the same, does it get any better?
Started with my husband noticing a poster that said GOB. Looked like it was meant for a band.
Obviously there is a man with a Hook for a hand in the episode.
There was a kid painting himself dark purple, so dark it almost looked blue.
And then Dean called for Sam by saying āHey Brother.ā
We could be imagining things, but weāre now hoping that the writers were at least watching AD when they wrote the episode.
Itās possible. Buster loses his hand in February 2005. This episode of Supernatural aired October 2005.
Well, itās me again. Here in Texas we are in our third week of bow season. I have this 42 inch tv in my camper and every deer season I rewatch all the seasons of AD. Iām on episode āIn a $5,000 suit? CāMON!ā I do this every year and it never gets old.
