First of all, I guess the obvious answer is that I like traditional Japanese music, yes, probably, since it is all Japanese instruments playing. But I don't know much about it, and I wanted to know artists/songs that were similar (real artists or real traditional Japanese music if applicable) specifically to these Naruto game soundtracks that I love so much.
I couldn't find similars easily just by trying to search for "traditional Japanese music"...
I'm interested in stories that make you think or have some overarching theme. Sometimes the conflict can just be an inner conflict with a character. A lot of Disney movies do this well, but prefer something deeper that I can sink my teeth into and challenge my thinking. It can be anything from a comedy to an anime. Breaking Bad, Avatar Last Airbender, Wicked, Daredevil, Arcane are some examples off the top of my head.
Open to other mediums like books or video games.
i really like castanets, but the only song i've been able to find that i know with them is "Stalker's Tango"
any recs??
"Hoof and Lap" very clearly takes influence from Cabaret music as a whole but most from "Mein Herr" from nthe actual Cabaret musical itself
They both have a great sound and, "Spiders" has a "tick tock" that sounds very similar to Stefani as well, both great songs :3
Specifically shows that teach about cryptids. Not ones where they are hunting them like "Finding Bigfoot" or something. I mean shows that are more like say the first season of "Lore". Where they talk about the traits, the folklore, the origins and culures that they came from. Even better if they talk about lesser known ones. Can be a series on a streaming service or even a YouTube series/channel that covers them, I just want to learn. Thank you in advance.
think similar to portishead and massive attack.
Idk if dark ambient is even accurate honestly. It's just a string of unsettling and nightmarish sounds. Here's some songs for reference:
salv the dog- dear god they aren't breathing
I'd appreciate any help finding songs like this!
I'm looking for shows where each episodes is a completely different standalone story, and the episodes are no longer than 30 minutes. Ideally centred around sci-fi, fantasy, mysterious things, but could also be completely realistic.
No shows please that are purely comedy, although its fine if comedy is an element.
I love the way the piano rift ties the start and end of this album together. Are there other examples of where a catchy bit is used repeatedly throughout an album? Another example is A Grand Don't Come For Free by the Streets, and probably other concept albums.
this song invokes a ridiculous amount of emotion from me and id like a playlist of similar songs. another i like that i find similar would be Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.
I think countermelodies is the correct term, basically just different melodies being played at the same time. Some examples would be The Great Curve by Talking Heads and also the ending of Columbia by Oasis where all different guitar licks are playing at the same time.
A very specific kind of losing control. The mind oscillates. The body hums. The future dissolves.
Here are links to those songs as well as a few more:
Built To Spill - Randy Described Eternity
Yo La Tengo - Barnaby, Hardly Working
Shudder To Think - X-French Tee Shirt
The Breeders - Put On A Side
Swans - Red Velvet Corridor
Gang of Four - Love Like Anthrax
I need as many of these songs as possible so that I can build a pyramid out of them.
The best example I can think of is Euphoria, which had 6 first-time actors (Angus Cloud, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Hunter Schafer, Javon "Wanna" Walton & Sophia Rose Wilson), yet they were all so good that you would never have guessed that they were making their acting debuts!
Any other good shows with several first-time actors (in the main cast and/or in significant recurring roles)?
I mostly like the ‘gloomy small east coast town’ vibe and I’m hoping for a show/movie with that vibe. Teen horror or teen drama would be amazing!
I've watched Don't Move, The Lodge, and No Exit and enjoyed their vibe. If anyone knows any movies with a similar theme, preferably set in the wilderness please give me some recommendations :)
Hey guys I need some cool albums like mezzanine. Doesn't have to be trip hop. But it also shouldn't be hipster like velvet Underground. Some examples are mezzanine, madvillainy, in rainbows, music has the right to children, dummy and so on. Also would appreciate if it isn't too political
Specifically the 2:50 to 3:20 mark. Looking for songs with those strings. A song that gives you that ethereal feeling.

I am having a hard time finding similar big band jazz that is not slow and depressing. I am looking for upbeat, complex, layered songs. Not too fast, but not slow either. I really like the varied instruments, and hearing different ones take turns having their 'moment' if that makes sense.
Hard to describe, but this has been the best song I have found so far.
I like some Penderecki but most of the so called dark classical/orchestral just sounds, I dunno how to describe it, just not what I'm looking for.
Guitar-centric love songs? Uplifting, full of life, good for driving to their house with the windows down, screaming all the words... Incinerate by Sonic Youth also captures this inexplicable feeling that I am hunting for. Preferably pre-90s if you so choose. I know it's pretentious But I firmly believe that music was just a little more magical then. K love you. Thank you. Goodnight. <3
