What can I say, I like some meloncholic banjo and odd lyrics. Thanks in advance for new to me music.
Every time I see something like this it is always a banger. I just think the trauma of growing up queer/trans and catholic drives people to make super sick art about it sometimes, and I want to see it!
I wish I had good visual examples, but let me describe. I’m looking for things like:
Hoping I’m getting the intended vibe across! I’m also down for anything with a similar theme of “people the Catholic Church hate, but drawn in the aesthetic of Catholic art”.
Would love recommendations for art or artists who do this sort of thing!
so im making a playlist for myself but im interested what people here suggest on the things that are currently in my playlist
not about half maybe a bit less are dutch songs
i also like
never forget you - zara larson
cool for the summer - demi lovato
lights - ellie goulding
Looking for similar music to this:
Mymla- the path

Its very atmospheric but also a bit melodic. Most ambient music I have found isn't as melodic. The other music by this artist isn't as atmospheric. I like the atmospheric but with melodies if that makes sense. Is there a particular genre for stuff like that?
I like that kind of sound and vibe that really grabs you and takes you to another dimension. What would you recommend?
*umo is Unknown Mortal Orchestra btw, but that band name is really long.
I had some exposure to classical music growing up, but I don’t love it the way I do other genres. I recently was introduced to the work of Ludovico Einaudi and am really enjoying it. I know some people don’t consider him a classical composer so I’m not having much luck finding similar artists. Any recommendations beyond Spotify?
In general, I’m talking about songs in (or similar to) the genre that are upbeat in music AND tone with good lyrics. Other examples include:
With My Looks and Your Brains - The Mr. T Experience
Don’t Let the Bastards Grind You Down - The Toasters
Not F’n Around - Big D and the Kids Table
Everything - The Dollyrots
I Know How to Party - The Dollyrots
The 2 bands that did the title songs are Pain and Escape From the Zoo. Similar bands in general would also be great.
Preferably older. We see a lot of so-called "baddie playlists" online, and yes, they are modern confidence boosters but I want older ones like the said songs. No specific genres, but preferably upbeat.
Thanks in advance.
I usually listen to jazz, electronic music(if that makes sense don't know how to call it), some form of rock, "vaporwaves"(sorry if that's not the name but for instance I like the song RESONANCE-Home from that genre). If anyone has any recommendations because I'm trying to upgrade my palate a bit(haven't found any good songs nowadays). The musicians I like listening to: ACDC, Artic Monkeys, Daft Punk, Kanii, Home, Bob James, Sade, Tara Impala, (I enjoy as well a lot of gaming soundtracks like from minecraft, undertale, deltarune, some geometry dash songs and many other). I know I love a lot of genres but if you have any recommendations please don't be shy!
Can anyone please suggest songs that possess a similar sense of melancholy, sentimentality, rawness, ardor, romance, quiet desperation, passion, nostalgia, regret, beauty, and elegance to the song A Night In by Tindersticks? Or some songs that sound similar (such as with the strings and overall feeling of the song) but not by Tindersticks as I know most of their discography already. I'm trying to find songs that evoke the same unique feeling this song does. It's really something special. Preferably with strings also.

Hi yall, looking for something like the example above. There are many electronic-with-jazz music out there, but they either end up being too muzak, or too virtuoso show off.
I'm looking for something like the above example; A hypnotic, clean, mellow beat with jazzy elements sprinkled in. Thanks!
Really, i'm looking for the "equivalent" or artist twin of these singers and their music in the 2020s. like for vanessa carlton as an example, give me an artist from the 2020s that gives off a similar vibe as her music wise. I know these singers are unique and have a special sound imo but just for fun i guess; see what y'all can do.
Things that I love about these bands' particular part of the math-rock / prog metal sphere are the strong and memorable melodic lead lines, the almost vocal guitar work, and the really groovy and danceable rhythms.
Primo examples are:
Bands I already know about and/or am not that interested in for this question:
Animals as Leaders - they are gods of prog metal but right now i'm more looking for the fun and danceable side of the genre
Polyphia - already a fan but their stuff is just a little too highly-processed and poppy for me to stay into in the same way for long - dope musicians though and my god Tim is beautiful
Intervals - i'm sorry but i find them mid
Plini - already a fan but his stuff gets a bit one-note for me
Hello, this is my first post here, so please forgive me if I do something wrong when it comes to formatting or layout?
So, I believe the words applicable to what I’m kinda looking for are “discordant instrumental music utilizing minor key” or something like that? Preferably somehow also “upbeat” or “fast paced”
Some examples:
Some kinda similar-ish? Examples are…
“Who” is on the lighter side of what I’ve got in mind, while “Lovely Bastards” is like… the extreme.
I suppose for most folks what I’m lookin for are essentially songs you could expect to be played at a haunted house for ambiance, ideally in a clown themed attraction or in some sort of demonic themed attraction.
Last time I reached out to friends the only suggestion I got that kinda fit the bill (albeit lighter and goofier, plus with lyrics) was (4?) “Madness” by House Of Fun… I like it but not what I was REALLY looking for.
There’s just something so GOOD about the style the last section of this song. I just discovered this band and have listened to a few of their songs and haven’t gotten a similar enough thing yet. Does anyone know of any other songs that have the same feel/style/sound?
i'm trying to find more dance/club music, specifically songs with a rapped/sung chorus songs like atmosphere by fisher, better off alone by alice deejay, i like it by enrique iglesias, feel so close by calvin harris, wild ones by flo rida, friday by riton, make you mine by madison beer, etc. not really looking for edm songs with chopped vocals.
songs or artists it doesn't matter! modern artists would be nice too. im a big fan of dance music.
Yes, this is inspired by the other post lol
i LOVE the gameplay of tf2, i love the character design, i love the ost, i love the comics/lore, i love how clever some of it can be, i love the characters, you get the point. the graphics are dated but also lovely to me (imho they're timeless and retain their simplistic/goofy aspect).
i don't really mind what it is - a video game, show, film, book, concept album - but video game is most preferable.
note that i enjoy the concept, lore and design of tf2 over the actual gameplay (so i care about the GAME THEORY 🤓 aspects more than the actually playing the game/FPS aspects) but it is also a really fun game to me.
Im looking for songs with a similar song structure as California Dreamin by The Mamas and The Papas - a happy start, middle solo/no vocals, then happy end similar to beggining. The Chain by Fleetwood Mac also has this a bit. But I want something more upbeat/for dancing.
i LOVE the wide panned guitars, the drums, and ESPECIALLY the high screams Bryan Garris does. im not a fan of their older stuff though. wewil?
edit: the super dark aesthetic really draws me in as well
I hear these two songs on the college radio station all the time and they are such a specific mood, I can't really describe what it is but I need more of it. People that were around during this 90's nerd rock era, what was playing on your boombox or whatever?
Looking for dubstep like above to play in a lounge setting that is good for head-nodding, smoking, socializing. Nothing overpowering but still enough energy you could get up and move if you wanted to, but not mosh.
This Pierce remix is a 100% dead on perfect example of what I'm looking for, groovy, not aggressive enough to distract a room or cause headbanging, but not entirely lowkey either, you can feel the energy and its more than just "background music."
Very similar mentions are Sweet Memories by Zed's Dead (another 100% match) and this HEYZ remix of Lose Control. HEYZ remix is a great example because the dubstep is ALMOST a bit too aggressive on the wubs and sound design but the vocals are so forward and beautiful that the overall song is still very pleasant and simple enough to have in a social setting. Tons of songs by Break Science are other good examples of what I'm looking for, in particular "Once In A While" and "Light Speed Transit". Other good mentions to Tape B's remix of "In The Bag" and Subtronic's "Afternoon Coffee".
Examples of what I'm NOT looking for:
Peekaboo - Like That: While this is a very vibey and simple stripped down song with fun wubs, its overall energy is too "in the face" of the listener to play "casually", a bit too overpowering for a lounge setting.
Break Science - Misaligned: One rare example from Break Science that actually shows what I don't want. Very beautiful song but too downtempo and way too ethereal, not quite "smooth" or "groovy" enough to keep the energy up in a social setting.
Skream - some close sound design to what vibes, but too frenetic and twitchy energy for a chilled lounge setting, not quite a "polished" enough sound to be "pleasing" in an average modern kickback.
Burial - too downtempo, too sedated feeling
Any other bands that sound a lot like wisp? There's not enough material from them sadly 😭😭
I'm trying to find a song that talks about a duel where both die. The one singing clearly knows that both going to die, no matter the outcome of the duel, but he's gonna make sure to bring his adversary to hell with him. The vibe I'm looking for is like the beginning of "revenge" by xxxtentacion, in the part where he says "I've dug two graves for us my dear", so not an energetic beat, but rather an emotional one
