I just watched the whole show for the first time

WHAT THE HELL?!! I have stayed off this subreddit until now because I’ve spent the past six months somehow getting through this whole show with no spoilers. And up until the finale? Makes a good case for my favorite show of all time.

Ted Mosby. As a guy that seems good enough but is a hopeless romantic who watches all my friends around me find love, I needed Ted Mosby. He was a beacon of hope to me. He said so many things that I felt TO MY CORE. And I needed the ending for him that it seemed we were building to.

Never. In my entire life. Have it been more let down.

I wish I had come to the subreddit and been spoiled because the pain I’ve inflicted upon myself from watching the finale hurts my soul. Because I needed the hope I saw in Tracy. She was the ideal girl I saw and hoped for in my future. And then she was gone.

And I’ve had to learn so much from Ted about how to move on. How to let things go. I watched him grow and it allowed me to believe I could too. And the finale just undid it. Am I missing something that you guys see?

Don’t even get me started on Barney’s character assassination. Is there some beautiful masterpiece hidden inside that I’m missing

Or should I just choose to take the scene where he meets the mother, and outside of that ignore the season finale for the sake of my own mental and personal growth?

Based on a post on r/television, I was wondering who you’d say is most flanderized on HIMYM

The first season was infamously cropped to 4:3 when released on DVD and it was never rereleased to fix that. However, I was curious if they restored the original aspect ratio when they released the complete series box set. Does anyone have a copy and can confirm? Thanks.

S1 E9 the very end of the episode Ted meets a stripper who says her name is amber then Ted (lies) says that she corrected herself, calling herself TRACEY. He then said that woman was the mother to prank his kids. But OF COURSE this was the real name! His kids would know their mums name!!!

Which also means it make zero sense that they planned on making Victoria the mother if it was cancelled after s2.

Edit: I have LITERALLY never seen this topic brought up and did try searching beforehand so all of you who are saying this "omg this is posted so much" or being just genuine asshats can stfu theres no need for the goddam negativity

While Lily was wrong in manipulating Ted's relationships, the way Ted jumped on her because she triggered his breakup with Robin, while Robin was just slightly surprised and was casual about it, should have given him enough hint she was never into him the way he was. She was just stringing him along.

I’m watching “Say Cheese,” and it’s just rude to bring random women to their birthdays and funerals and whatnot . His justification—“they may be the one, and I have to stay hopeful”—seems like nonsense to me. If he likes some girl, he should just go out on a date with her, not bring her to group events unless they’ve been on at least five dates and he knows it’ll lead to something.

The funeral is one of my most favourite songs till date. I'm so thankful to himym for introducing me to such amazing songs.

I absolutely hate this theory and how it was applied in the show. It was outright stated so many times throughout the show’s run that Lily was “above” dating Marshall, and could get anyone but somehow settled for Marshall, who himself could never get anyone better. But he is a Columbia educated lawyer who is financially very secure, while she is a failed artist turned kindergarten teacher. So the only thing they are comparing is their looks - which are imo very much on the same level as they are both hot. Marshall even more so than Lily. Marshall on several occasions attracts hot girls (the girls in the college bar; or Jenkins). I just always thought it was a weird theory to bring up and considering their relationship, even weirder to apply to these two. Did anyone else have the same thoughts?

They never really covered where Lucy was when these two were running away. Was she just unsupervised somewhere else on the boat???

Okay, so we know Ted and Tracy met at the Farhampton station after the wedding. We also know the wedding took place on Sunday at 6 p.m. – now, if you go back to the season 9 episodes it's clear that Robin got dressed around 5 p.m. when she had that freakout about not wanting to marry Barney because he didn't find her locket. Right before, she was still wearing her hockey shirt.

In S8E01 we see a flash-forward of Ted at the train station telling the old lady about Robin's freakout. It then flashed back to her freakout (like I said, around 5 p.m.) and it said "10 hours earlier". Doing the math, that means Ted must've sat at the train station around 3 a.m. the day after the wedding, so Monday. Meaning he left the wedding very late and then met Tracy at the station around 3 a.m. on Monday.

However in S9E23 Ted is sitting at the train station and telling the old lady that he'll be in Chicago 24 hours from now. If he were at the train station on Monday, 3 a.m. that would mean he'd be in Chicago on Tuesday at 3 a.m. It then flashes forward 24 hours to Marshall and Lily surprisingly finding Ted sitting at MacLaren's telling them about how he met Tracy. However, that would mean it would be 3 a.m. on a Tuesday. I highly doubt that they'd walk into MacLaren's at 3 a.m.. The bar looked full. Ted gave Tracy a call which I also doubt he would've done at 3 a.m.

One of these stories don't add up, I'm just assuming it's the 3 a.m. one. We see in S9E23 that Ted left the wedding pretty early when the band was still playing so I don't think it could've already been after midnight. I think it was still Sunday maybe around 10 p.m. or something. So by that logic, he must've met Tracy on Sunday.

Also, the whole "nothing good ever happens after 2 a.m." and older Ted explicitly said that Luke's birth was the exception to that rule. I think if Ted and Tracy actually met at 3 a.m. then that would've counted as an exception too.

I know I'm being too nit-picky with this but I just hate these kinds of things. I just want to know whether Ted and Tracy met on the actual day of the wedding or if it was a day later. Do you have any more insights or thoughts on this? Maybe a scene where Ted says they met ON the day of Barney and Robin's wedding because I feel like there is...

I was just watching the episode and (again) I cannot decided what part was true or false. I am curious to hear other peoples opinions.
