In the 1993 episode all gets a check for a full year's salary, $12,000. In today's money, that's a yearly salary of $26,184.17.
This is roughly $12.59 per hour, which is way more than I thought he earned. Don't get me wrong, he's still very broke.
Ok he bought a 3 bedroom home around 1970, and the average price in 1970 was $26,600. 20 percent down at 8.5% for 30 years makes his monthly payment $163.62. Seems that his insurance premiums should of been around $394 a year or $32.83 a month.
Al got his car in 1966 even though it's a 73 sometimes 74 in the show. Also it's not really a dodge but a Plymouth duster lol. For ease I'll use that price in 1966, $7,495. Payments around $77.73. Minimum yearly insurance premiums in 1993 averaged $239 or $19.92 per month.
In the early 90s a family of four could fill a grocery cart for $50. Shop at least twice a month is $100. Bc they never had much food.
Hard to pin down their electric and gas costs, I'm going to say at least $100 as much as Al complains about it. His car insurance was no more than $40 also. In 1993 basic cable was $19.95.
Health insurance....get real $0
Average price of a gallon of gas was $1.11 and the duster holds 19 gallons for $21.09. A tank a week is $84.36 per month.
In Illinois Al gets 11.67% federal, 4.95% state, 6.20% social security, and 1.45% Medicare deducted from his paycheck. So $1000 minus 24.27% is $757.30 take home per month. Minus the previous expenses of $638.41 equals $118.89 to raise 2 kids and support Peggy's shipping addiction. Poor Al ๐
Whatโs the secret ingredient?
Sorry guys, i was......uh......distracted and didn't realize what day it was.
Al Bundy is the greatest character in TV history. So it is written...so it is done. Bubba Smith is great. "On the count of three...three"
Season 7 is one of the most consistently strong seasons. Some things to consider:
Seven only has about 6 minutes of total screentime
One of Kelly's best looks- her hair is at its longest this season
Jefferson is at his peak during this season, as is the Jefferson/Al dynamic
No notably weak episodes- the most consistenly strong season
Al's worst nightmare of a Halloween costume
Aside from "The Chicago Wine Party" are there other MWC episodes that involve politics or voting? The beer tax episode is the only one I'm remembering today and was thinking there has to be a couple of others.
