I understand the mechanics of using planetary squares to make a sigil. The gap in my knowledge is how the squares came to be.

(Full disclosure: I haven’t dug around too much and in lieu of spending more time swimming in a circle, I am choosing to phone a ‘friend’).

If I’m right, all the numbers on each row and column add up to the same number. But where did that number come from? Secondly, I use the method of assigning the alphabet a number 1-9 (are there other ways?). I’m only ever needing up to number 9. Are there other uses for the squares that included the numbers higher than 9?

Why is the moon’s square so big?

I had a strange magickal dream last night I would like to share with all of you…

It started when I was on a ship, there was in the water a typhoon and from it came a form of sea magick and I was as a sea priest. Then the scene shifted and I saw on the ship a table where several people (magicians) who where playing chess, except it wasn’t normal chess, they were playing against the dead. I saw a woman dressed all in black and with a grey face like in a horror movie, she was definitely dead. I played a knight piece against her and then I felt a wind, a death wind pulling me further into death and I felt I was about to die if I didn’t hold on to life.the wasted faced woman summoned a blizzard and ushered me somewhere in the world, she wanted me to go north to Germany 🇩🇪 or Norway 🇳🇴. It was all eerie and I am yet to see if something will pop in my life relating to the northern countries. Then in the dream I chanted angelic prayers, as I practice enochian magick and a few angels appeared powerfully to banish the black clothed dead woman. The scene shifted again and I saw a man dressed all in black but not dead, he was like a Protestant priest. I felt a sense of urgency and He taught me a form of magick to counter the dead. He finally gave me his name ‘Balthazar’.

When I woke up I woke up I could remember the dream vividly as well as the priest’s name. I googled Balthazar and to my surprise I discovered a magus who is mentioned in biblical stories. I’m still doing my research on him.

I've initially been advised by a famous witch who I trust the most out of most sources, who has worked with both and said angel magick is defo for more advanced witches, as they are powerful but more "out of touch" with human interactions/relationships, so they may respond to your request but in very risky or unpredictable ways. I think the right path is to work with demons, but I am scared due to preconceived biases given I was mostly fed information that demons=bad in Abrahamic religions (specifically Christianity). Yet I stumbled upon Ariel Gatoga, a witch I also believe in and whose teachings I love very much, who has created a guide to working with angels. I am torn, I know there is technically no right or wrong within the witch world, but based on my situation, thoughts?

I've been interested in magic for a long time and I want to try it.

Note, that I use the term, "Demonic, or evil spirit," (although those things exist in a negative form, too) because it is easier to understand for most people. Almost all magic systems are basically centered around energy working and meditation, but they all conduct these activities in specific ways.

What factors do you think contribute to a person being unable to gain progress in a particular magical system?

Why do you think one system works better for you when compared to others?

Hello, I need a pentacle of Solomon. I have the means to make them and say the psalms, but at the moment I don't have the possibility to consecrate them (time and hour of mercury, incense if I remember correctly). Does anyone have experience buying ready-made pentacles? There are many websites that look good. If anyone knows of a place where they sell pentacles made on the correct day and time and consecrated as indicated by the major key (day and hour of mercury, circle, etc.) I would appreciate it.

I've been burning a green candle for a few days. Every time I light it, I set my intentions and say a few words. It's helped tremendously! Today it was lit and after a while I decided to lay down. As soon as I set myself on my bed, the glass on the candle cracked. Does anyone know if this is a good or bad sign? (I know taper candles are better, but I am unable to use those currently)

So some of you might have seen my earlier post of looking into the occult and also saw that I’m Jewish. The issue is that I heard it was a closed practice. Since I’m Jewish and I know that’s the base for Kabbalah so I was wondering if I could join the practice?

I was resting in my room, I don't know if I fell asleep but I turned to the side of my bed and saw what appeared to be Paimon, the camel was very detailed (I was conscious). I am very confused, I have been delving deeply into the study of the occult and in my opinion a manifestation like this would not be possible without a ceremony. I had a lot of trouble sleeping afterwards because my head felt hot, my body felt feverish and the next day I had a revealing dream about a person. I don't know if it's accurate or what happened. Could someone with more experience give me some insight?

You know the drill, full moon comes and we set out our jars to make moon water, but what is the other side of the coin? A shot of sunshine in the dark of winter seems nice. Can you make Sun Water? Hi r/occult, I started working from home about 4 months ago for a nonprofit. I am having a lot of weird dreams about work which isn't typical for me in the past and I'm wondering if it is partially because I am working in my house and my brain is conflating the two. l've always felt this quote by Aleister Crowley was a magickal joke or riddle. The crux of the matter is Who are YOU? If you embrace that YOU are in fact the Inner Self, the spark of the Absolute within your physical and higher bodies, yes, of course, the admonition is very true. We all have destinies to follow. The compulsive desires that pull us toward our evolution. But if you identify yourself as the physical vehicle, with all its impulses and sometimes foolish and dangerous whims, you may experience a great deal of suffering. I've noticed there are some on Instagram who do believe this quote is really about gratifying the desires of the physical body; please recall the work this magician did with his students to destroy the hold of the seperative ego-punishing them whenever they used the pronoun "I" in their speech.

So 3 days ago I posted on r/DemonolatryPractices where I attempted to rationalize the concept of magic through the placebo effect and the butterfly effect. But now that I think of it, it might be a little more than that. I think magic might help aid someone in putting more faith in their incentives and wants which is likely already possible.

I can't stress the extent to which I believe you can achieve just by being delusional. I don't mean it in the magical sense. To clarify, I have limited life experience so I could largely be wrong. But I am the type of person who always falls into what one may call "wishful thinking". The thing is, for the most part, that helped me do what I wanted. That I think is because we as humans put unusual restraints in our incentives. For example, I had a friend who always stressed that she lacked time, couldn't take all these classes at once, always complained, and so on, and had a result mirroring that. Many people have such an outlook on life, that they don't understand the bigness of the human mind and what it can achieve.

First of all, this does not mean that you should stretch yourself too thin, ego depletion is real. This is not to say that your willpower is limited, but rather the power and impact of your wants from the ego could be depleted, as it is influenced by external circumstances. I had a 'depleted' ego for 2 months and it sucked especially as a person who was always an overachiever. A depleted ego could act as a hindrance to your goals by limiting beliefs and motivation. (One can call it burnout too, that's another word)

The other thing is when I think something is too impossible and end up not putting effort due to a lack of hope, I ALMOST ALWAYS regret it and realize it was possible and get mad. I think we as people in general, have incredible beliefs that limit us literally acting as a hinderance. Could magic be a way to alleviate it without a supernatural sense?

I just thought, is this how magic works? Through magic, one gets to convince oneself of different things and remove limiting beliefs acting as a trick to apply in mundane life or is there more profound supernaturalism than that?
