Hey all!
I'm working on a YouTube series exploring the Seven Hermetic Principals according to The Kybalion. The Kybalion can be a tough read, and I want to spread the information to the YouTube crowd in an engaging way.
I'm hoping this video entertains and/or explains! I'm definitely open to feedback and would love to hear if you've understood the principle in the same way or differently as I have ♥️
Hello reading Kyablion, I'm confused between the principles of Vibration & Rhythm and Polarity & Gender.
Principle of Vibration (PoV) - everything vibrates and goes onto explain how SPIRIT vibrates at infinite rate and other objects.
Principle of Rhythm (PoR) - This Principle embodies the truth that in everything there is manifested a measured motion, to and fro; a flow and inflow; a swing backward and forward; a pendulum-like movement.
From physics both the things fit into the definition of vibration or an oscillation. PoR is a special case of PoV which only happens on a large time scale and PoV on a shorter time scale or they are totally different?
Principle of Polarity (PoP) - This Principle embodies the truth that "everything is dual"; "everything has two poles"; "everything has its pair of opposites".
Principle of Gender (PoG) - This Principle embodies the truth that there is GENDER manifested in everything--the Masculine and Feminine Principles ever at work.
PoG is one special case of PoP or is there more to PoG?
Both PoR and PoG are corollaries than principles?
Thanks
PS: I posted this on r/Hermeticism and was told that Kybalion is not Hermetic text and was asked to post here.
Hi all! I wanted to share my video on the second hermetic principle, correspondence. A popular one I know! I'm working on putting esoteric knowledge into a modern digestible format without bullshitting anybody like I see many on social media doing.
I really just want to talk to folks about it all, see where our ideas line up based on our experience, not just a mutual understanding of a certain text. I'd love to hear your thoughts and appreciate this community.
Wondering if anyone else has read “The Ra Contact: Teaching the Law of One” by Carla L. Rueckert, Don Elkins, and Jim McCarty. There is a lot of information packed in here and I have only read the first book. There are many parallels and principles brought up that seem to fall in line perfectly with what is discussed in the kybalion.
Just curious if anyone has done similar research, what are your thoughts? I found the text very exciting in the sense that real world examples throughout history are connected to these principles that are discussed philosophically in the kybalion. And there are very practical, physical and mental exercises described to help yourself progress according to the Law of One. I found this particularly helpful since most hermetic teachings i have come across, seem to be philosophical in nature and tend to not provide specific methods of practice.
Any thoughts? Just trying to expand my knowledge and wisdom!
Recently finished doing research at the History of Hermetic Philosophy and Related Currents Department at the University of Amsterdam using 4E Cognition and Conceptual Metaphor approaches to explore practices of Ritual Magic. The main focus is the embodiment and extension of metaphor through imaginal and somatic techniques as a means of altering consciousness to reconceptualize the relationship of self and world. The hope is to point toward the rich potential of combining the emerging fields of study in 4E Cognition and Esotericism. It may show that there is a lot more going on cognitively in so-called "magical thinking" than many would expect there to be...
For those wondering what some of these ideas mentioned above are:
4E is a movement in cognitive science that doesn't look at the mind as only existing in the brain, but rather mind is Embodied in an organism, Embedded in a socio-environmental context, Enacted through engagement with the world, and Extended into the world (4E's). It ends up arriving at a lot of ideas about mind and consciousness that are strikingly similar to hermetic, magical, and other esoteric ideas about the same topic.
Esotericism is basically rejected knowledge (such as Hermeticism, Magic, Kabbalah, Alchemy, etc.) and often involves a hidden or inner knowledge/way of interpretation which is communicated by symbols.
Conceptual Metaphor Theory is an idea in cognitive linguistics that says the basic mechanism through which we conceptualize things is metaphor. Its essentially says metaphor is the process by which we combine knowledge from one area of experience to another. This can be seen in how widespread metaphor is in language. It popped up twice in the last sentence (seen, widespread). Popped up is also a metaphor, its everywhere! It does a really good job of not saying things are "just a metaphor" and diminishing them, but rather elevates them to a level of supreme importance.
Basically the ideas come from very different areas of study (science, spirituality, philosophy) but fit together in a really fascinating and quite unexpected way. I give MUCH more detailed explanations in the text, so check it out if this sounds interesting to you!!!
Let’s suppose that I'm in a great cicle of my life, everytuing going very well, however, according to the law of rhythm I'm going to have a bad phase at some point. How can I prevent this bad phase from being so bad, or rather, is there a way to make it pass quickly or turn into a good phase?
I am looking to find copies of these Kybalion workbooks. I cannot find them anywhere. Anyone seen them? Online shops?
In 2020 I started my spiritual journey and I begun meditating daily, created a set of affirmations, practicing manifestations, reading about the journey of our souls, got into Buddhism a little bit too, then I started doing LSD and Shrooms, and after awhile I became eager to find out what's the purpose and meaning of being a human being, so I did DMT 5 times and broke through only once, which helped me tremendously in my journey.
In 2021 a friend of mine introduced me to Kybalion, after I told him that I want to be able to 'bend my reality' which is a term that a lot of people use to describe the success they have in shaping reality to their liking. A month later I purchased the book the Kybalion, and it was very deep and profound, it really opened my eyes to principles I never thought had existed. It's a very enlightening book, but after reading the book, I begun asking myself "Ok... Now what?". I thought it was supposed to be one of those books that give you tools to shape your reality to your liking, or tools that you can apply and execute in your own life. When you read the Kybalion, did you end up applying the principles in your day to day life? If so, could you share and explain how? Or was it one of those books for you which you read and then say "Ok, cool book, on to the next one...." ?
Hi everyone! I've been trying to reconnect with hermetic (and neo-hermetic) ideas by creating art with them in mind. I recently made this video more or less on my perspective in regards to the first principle as described in The Kybalion. I'd love to hear how the rest of this sub thinks about the law of mentalism and the correspondence to dreams!
