Any child-friendly books or resources?

My 7 year old daughter and I had an interesting conversation yesterday where she asked me why some people are so ā€œobsessedā€ with church. I told her some people are very passionate about their beliefs. She told me she doesnā€™t like going to church with her grandmother anymore because ā€œthey only talk about 1 god and thereā€™s many gods and goddessesā€. I want to nurture her beliefs and expand her knowledge. Does anybody know of any books or resources I can provide her?

Uhh, quick question for the more experienced people?

Any of y'all getting bad/warning signs too or is it just me? I work with Hestia and like- she seems pretty mad lmao

I mean I'm not the most experienced or best practitioner (I do the best I can but still) but the gods seem angry, is it just me or is it a genuine sign?

Can I worship Apollo, hades, Poseidon, Athena, and Aphrodite at the same time?

I have been wanting to worship for a while now, but I have been too scared I'm going to make someone mad or mess it up. So I have a few questions.

  1. How many can I worship and is it a good idea too
  2. How can I do it properly so I don't mess up or make anyone mad

That is about it but if anyone has answers or any other things I need to know please feel free to tell me. All feedback is appreciated! (Hope you have a wonderful day)

Monotheism as Arrogance

Are there any books about paganism that deal with the topic of the arrogance inherent in the attitude of monotheistic religions? For example, the need to oppress alternative conceptions of the sacred. While polytheists saw no problem in absorbing each other's culture, such as in the syncretism between Mercurius-Hermes-Thoth. The openness to dialogue and multiplicity, versus the authoritarian tendency of abrahamic faith, etc.

Dating app for other polytheists

To my knowledge, we don't have a dating app for people who are polytheist of any kind. The monotheistic ones have at least 1. With thier Christian mingle crap. So if anyone is good with designing apps, and is interested, I'm looking for someone to work with me on it. I don't really have much techie prowness, what I'd bring to the table is being the idea guy. So my claim would be intellectual property. If done right, it could even be a way to honor deities with the domain over love, in my case, Lady aphrodite and Lord Eros.

Why is most of the afterlives we'll go to usually dark and gloomy?

I've noticed as a polytheist that most of the afterlives we'll go are usually either dark, gloomy, misty, are in eternal night or twilight, these tend be commonly described to places like hades, helheim, mictlan, irkalla, diyu and in my case as a shintoist, yomi-no-kuni.

Even stranger it's commonly said in those afterlives the dead there quite like the darkness and gloom and is usually said to be a much more better and preferable existence than say, the christian heaven.

Can someone explain why most afterlives are dark and gloomy and what makes them better places than the christian heaven?

Question as a non-polytheistic person (idk the correct name Iā€™m so so sorry if itā€™s wrong)

Very sorry if this is offensive in some way but I was wondering what you guys think happens after death, I know most religions have a set thing they believe in but I wanna hear your guys. Like does it depend on the god or gods you pray to the most or do you all kinda believe in the same thing?? Once again sorry if the wording is wrong or offensive Iā€™m just curious

Is it offensive to light a candle to non-Christian Gods in a church?

Hi there, very new polytheist here!

Although I no longer consider myself Orthodox Christian it is still a large part of my culture and I go to church often for various reasons. Over the last few weeks Iā€™ve started giving offerings to the Hellenic gods at home, but Iā€™ve been having to keep it under wraps from my family.

Do you think itā€™s offensiveā€” either to the Christian spirits or the Hellenic spiritsā€” to light a candle as an offering to a non-Christian god in a Christian church? Is it a risk for spiritual miasma?

If youā€™re familiar with an Orthodox Church, the candle area is near the entrance, not further in/ on the actual altar. That being said there is a lot of iconography around. The idea is appealing to me because it feels wasteful lighting them with no intention, and it would help me be much more consistent with prayer. That being said, Iā€™d rather see it as a donation to the church than disrespect any spiritual beings.

Iā€™m aware there are many opinions around this topic, and I plan to do my own research and introspection to find my answer. That being said, your thoughts are very much appreciated!

Anyone have songs I could use to connect to different pantheons?

I have a playlist that I love that is mainly attracted to Norse, Celtic and Greek pantheons, but I would like some songs or playlists that go into other pantheons, which I myself believe in all of them, I don't want to be rude and ask on the pantheons subreddits.

Though, I find it a problem to connect to Shintoism, Slavic, Hindu, Taoist, Roman, Māori, Egyptian, and more(ik some don't believe in them, or some are dead like Aztec, but I don't care, I want songs that might connect to the culture surrounding them or songs about the pantheon in general).

SONGS CAN BE IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, I don't care if it's in a foreign language, if I don't know what it says, I will learn. Also, Spotify is my favorite music app, so if it could be on that it's preferred, but I use YouTube for music too.

How to Worship Greek Gods as a teen without access to most materials

I(15NB) have recently been doing research on Greek gods, polytheism, how to worship/pray to them, etc.. I don't have lots of access to supplies or the right things to make an alter to the gods I wish to try and pray to. I was hoping for advice on how to propperly and respectfully pray to them without being able to give many offerings or even make an alter due to lack of space. The gods I wish to try and work with are Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Dionysus, Nyx, and Hypnos.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your advice, tips, and recommendations so far! I do love art and crafts so I will be devoting some crafts and projects to the gods I wish to work with

How would your religion and/or the Deity or Deities That you worship deal with a person that can't be a consistent member/practitioner/worshiper because he or she suffers from a mental disorder?

Borderline personality disorder may include lack of sense of self. People who suffer from it can switch religions, and interests in general, rapidly. Hyperfocus can also be a thing within this context.

In my case I already noticed that, while my leanings, including the religious ones, change, I often switch among the same ones. But I couldn't settle for a definite one, and I don't know whether I will ever manage to do it.

How would your religion, and/or the Deity or Deities That you worship, treat a possible new practitioner/member/worshiper who suffers from such a mental disorder, so he or she can, all of a sudden, just stop attending services/praying/sacrificing/doing rituals and resume said activities at an indefinite point, or even never showing up again?

Tiamat resources for a beginner

Hi everyone!!! iā€™m pretty new to sumerian polytheism, all iā€™ve really done so far was research.

I wanted to ask anyone for resources on Tiamat. I do know of her story, her elements, and that she is part of the Draconic witchcraft, and i feel really called to her.

So what iā€™m asking for is ways to reach out, her favourite things to put on shrinesā€¦ iā€™m aware i could ask the latter from her personally, but as you must know she is quite intimidating, and I donā€™t want to reach out to her in ā€œthe wrong wayā€, if thats possible.

I want to be proper about everything i do for her. Help is very much appreciated!!

can you worship angels and demons at the same time?

i know its silly, but i love oracle and tarot and i feel like i have a good connection with angels and it makes the quality of my life better. thing is, i also read grimoires and see lucifer as a great angel who was not evil but cast away by a shitty god, i also dont agree with everything in the bible and take bits of pieces from everything to fit what i believe, but if i say made a pact with demonic entities would they hate me for also loving judaism and christian angels and some gods like shiva? i feel like they should all just get along, i wouldnt be surprised if they do. sorry i just couldnt find many people who do from searching so im afraid i may just have to pick a team bc i dont wanna get cursed or some shit lol

Europeans (esp Germans, Danes, & Norwegians), what is the pagan community like in your area?

Open to other continental Europeans as well. The British Isles are not our list (as much as Iā€™d love to move to Scotland lol).

My husband and I are planning to move from Finland to elsewhere in Europe and Iā€™m very interested to know what paganism is like in your country (particularly in Germany, Denmark, and Norway since those are our top 3).

Iā€™ve been a devout polytheist for almost 14 years, and have been solo the entire time. Itā€™s important to me to ultimately find at least a small pagan community. Iā€™m primarily a Slavo-Finnic pagan but am interested in meeting pagans of a variety of pantheons.

What is it like for you? Is there a strong pagan community in your country or is it hard to connect to people? What forms of paganism are most common? Do you attend pagan events in your country?

Germans, how taboo is paganism? Bonus points if you know about the situation in Bavaria.

Anyone worship God(desse)s from different pantheons? If so, how do you know one God(dess) won't disprove of the other?

To be more exact, I've been getting a lot of symbolism, synchronicities, dreams etc coming from both Ishtar and Hecate, and this after deeping my worship of Sophia. That's 3 different pantheons, and I've tried asking if it's okay and I've got a very cold response from every channel. Part of my belief though, is the rise of the Divine Feminine, the fall of the toxic masculine, and the rise of the Goddesses with it. I just want to make sure worshipping them all wont cause any issues, or if I should just stick with one. Thanks.

If youā€™re openly a polytheist and/or witch, how did you tell others?

It feels harder to say that than say that Iā€™m an atheist so Iā€™ve been hiding behind ā€œspiritual but not religiousā€ and using video game figurines as a disguised altar so roomie thinks Iā€™m just an ordinary weeb. People are used to atheists believing thereā€™s zero gods but believing in multiple and none of them are the Bible one and believing in magic Iā€™m expecting a grilling if my roomie figures out thereā€™s more to the figurines on my dresser than plain fandom

Polytheits out there know about Krishna

Ladoo Gopal form of Krishna .

Some Bhagavat Geeta learnings ;

Duty (Dharma) Without Attachment: Perform your duty (karma) with dedication and without attachment to the results. Focus on the action, not the fruits of the action (Chapter 2, Verse 47).

Selfless Service: Serve others selflessly without expecting anything in return. This is considered the path to spiritual liberation (Karma Yoga).

The Eternal Soul: The soul (Atman) is eternal and indestructible. The physical body may perish, but the soul remains unchanged (Chapter 2, Verses 20-22).

Equanimity in Success and Failure: Maintain equanimity in both success and failure. Treat joy and sorrow, gain and loss, victory and defeat as equal (Chapter 2, Verse 38).

The Importance of Knowledge: True knowledge (Jnana) leads to wisdom and the realization of the self. This knowledge dispels ignorance and helps one to attain spiritual liberation (Chapter 4, Verse 38).

The Power of Devotion: Devotion (Bhakti) to God is a powerful means of attaining liberation. Surrendering oneself to God with pure love and devotion is one of the simplest paths to spiritual fulfillment (Chapter 9, Verses 22-25).

Yoga: Union with the Divine: Yoga is not just physical postures but a path of spiritual practice that leads to union with the Divine. There are different types of yogaā€”Karma Yoga (selfless action), Bhakti Yoga (devotion), Jnana Yoga (knowledge), and Raja Yoga (meditation)ā€”all leading to the same goal of self-realization.

Detachment from Materialism: Attachment to material possessions and desires is the root of suffering. One should cultivate detachment and focus on spiritual growth rather than material accumulation (Chapter 5, Verse 29).
