Description:

In 2024, a new magickal learning festival will begin from April 5-7. This festival acknowledges that in order to be able to create the world we want, we need the skills to do so.

Just as it’s sister festival in the autumn, Hearthfires, it will have craft and hands-on classes, but the classes taught at Striking Sparks are aimed at Magickal learning and community. The basics of how to create your own magickal tools, how to learn how to use those tools, magickal technique, and underlying practical skills for stability in your spaces.

Like Hearth Fires, this is a great place to get to know your community. We’ll have evening activities centered around the fire, including short rituals, Bardic Fire, and Hearth Fires community fires hosted by attendees. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner, new to the community, or simply adjacent (and looking to understand), join us!

Our classes, like Hearth Fires, will be different every year (and we’re also really interested in what you want to learn). When you register for Striking Sparks Pagan Festival, you will receive a confirmation email that contains a link to select your top 3 classes, and 3 alternates. Four class periods happen on Saturday (9 am, 11 am, 2 pm, and 4 pm), and our attendees are enrolled in 3 periods (with one period off to rest). We are still considering Friday evening classes and how we might make that work. You do not need to have ANY previous experience for ANY class. Here is a sample of our our possible class offerings:

Beltane in Lossiemouth, Scotland

Heading north to Lossiemouth for a holiday early 2024, and will miss Beltane in my neck of the woods... A quick Google search for Beltane festivals in the Highlands doesn't show anything other than the celebration in Edinburgh (?!?)..

Are there any Beltane Festivals 2024 near to Lossiemouth at all that I'm missing with my Googling?

Festival News: Asgardian Heathen Festival 2020 Cancelled This year until further notice

Their statement via facebook:

It is with an exceptionally heavy heart, and following lots of agonizing that I make this announcement.

The decision is being made to to cancel the Asgardian event in 2020. The be all, and end all, of the reasons for this, is purely financial. We are in a position where the event is not financially viable.

What do I mean by this?.....

To be very transparent...

The first event in 2016 saw us with 98 prebooks, 2017 was 146, 2018 was 223...... 2019 was 139.

We dropped massively downwards in 2019, to below even the numbers of year 2..... and our on the gate sales were the worst they have ever been.

The Asgardian event runs on its ticket sales; there is no capital in the event, there is no upfront money to put the event on with - ticket sales are what keeps us afloat. In 2019 the ONLY reason the event could run, is by using ALL the profit made in 2018...... a total of just over £2k.....

For 2020, there is no previous years profit to rely on if things don't go well. And with the sales as they are we simply cannot risk it.

The reason this decision is being made now, is because the early bird tickets have just finished, and they are low for the 2nd year running. 2017 we had 26 EB's, 2018 we had 46, 2019 was 30...and this year we have only had 24......... again, lower than year 2 figures.

I am very sorry guys; but we have to cancel the 2020 event, as it is not financially doable anymore. We will reassess for 2021, but cannot make any promises as to what will happen at this point.

We are looking already, following the annoucement of this to the crew and those we already had booked, of changing the way we work.... but more on that when we have worked it out a bit more.

Those 24 of you who have booked, you will be getting a refund of your tickets. Bare with us, and we will have this through to you as soon as we can.

We love the lot of you, and this is heartbreaking to both of us.

The Asgardian Team -Pip & Tom-
