But no, seriously, how do I do that?
Ive been interested in all things religious, mythological and occult for some time now. Having originally been a catholic, I renounced my faith at 17 and became and atheist. I've since studied archaeology, history and mythology in uni, and have grown a profound interest for religions and beliefs of all kinds, in spite of not having any myself.
I've been aware of Thelema and the works of Crowley for some time, albeit to a limited degree. Recently I've been looking at it more, though, and would really like to try it properly. I feel it could give my life more spirituality and purpose, something it's been lacking for a while now I think.
I've been a follower of stoicism and aspects of Mahayana Buddhism for some time now, so some aspects of Thelema like meditation and controlled breathing I'm used to. Other parts though, such as the tables of correspondences and the tree of life, are taking me longer to get my head round.
I've been going through Marco Visconti's wonderful "Aleister Crowley manual," which has been both helpful and fascinating. However, I still find myself struggling to navigate the tree of life and the correspondences a tad, along with how I relate them together and use them to creat rituals.
Any advice, help or tips would be tremendously appreciated. I'm sure once it's clicked in my head I'll have no problems, but could really do with a hand achieving that click!! DMs open and appreciated, thank you in advance.
Just a thought I had...RHKs vengeance was on his own followers? And his war would be on the filth is Aeon has created? Just a thought open to discussing
Hello, I am more then certain that this has been asked in the past, but if one wishes to practice Resh, I read [Hermetic Library] "giving the sign of his grade." If one isn't a part of A.A. or the O.T.O. what is the most appropriate way of said "sign". I had watched an O.T.O ceremony on YouTube [James Wasserman] there seemed to be certain greetings and or signs, would these be appropriate? (Sorry for meandering, I write this, I believe more then half than drunk] After some personal affairs, I wish to practice more Thelema and I feel this may be a good start after my calamities in life.
Thank you ~ 93/93/93
I read in another thread that thelema is edgelordy. How is it?
Iâm currently interested in focusing my study and practice of magick into ecstatic states.
If any of you know a an exercise, practice, book or magickal system I could get into in order to get closer to the experience of a ecstatic state, I would be very thankful.
I am somewhat unfamiliar with the Thelemic pantheon to call it that. But is Hadit and Nuit not both exemplified in Abraxas, Abraxas being a god of creation and destruction. The expresser and the expressed. The collective in a singular point?
Do I draw this connection correctly or am I mistaken?
For me, Thelema has always been about magick, and in this eleventh hour, as Thelema slowly decays into spam-fueled chaos, I offer some:
I am the warrior Lord of the Forties: the Eighties cower before me, & are abased.
When I first read the sentence above, I remember being a little bothered by the decision to provide the decades a war would start and end, but not specific years. On the other hand, how many 40-year wars had there been before 1904, meaning the length in years is not something that could be easily anticipated by a human, which makes the sentence a demonstrable reference to the Cold War.
In verse III:34 of the Book of the Law, there is mention of someone finding the Key of it all; while it could be a literal key such as a magical alphabet, it actually sounds more an ideological key, or a method key, with the latter being the case. Using what is a simple example of the key, I can demonstrate the author of verse III:46 knew exactly when the Cold War would begin and end.
There are seven letters in the word FORTIES, expressing the seventh year in that decade, or 1947, when the Cold War began. The word EIGHTIES has eight letters in it, and expresses the eighth year of that decade, or 1988, when the nuclear arms race ended.
I was wondering do we have rituals or meditation practices in Thelema or in general golden down which focuses on healing deep emotional wounds? Because imagine you start thelemic or OTO practices, the journey is overwhelming, astrologically speaking ; it brings up Chironic and Plutonic wounds and emotions, and in my spiritual path these emotions which are related somehow to other people and my life in general stops me from having discipline in my path to True will and doing practices which Crowley recommended. As if some psychological and events outside put me in emotional turmoil and disrupt the spiritual practices. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi everyone, I have an anxiety disorder (which sucks) Chaos Magick has helped in the past, I guess because its easy-ish to apply - but the more I read Thelemic writing, the more I want to apply Thelema.
Im reading as much as I can, but trying to navigate the big blue brick for anything specific is a bit tricky. Wondered if anyone has any favoured parts of Crowley's writing for strengthening their mental health or self confidence?
(P.s. I'm aware that saying 'EVERYTHING' is a valid response to this question đ )
Edit: I should add, this is in addition to me being treated via conventional medical practice and therapy - im just looking for something extra. I find Thelema incredible, if I can add it into my routine to strengthen my mental health, then thats a bonus.
Just curious, is Thelema considered non-dualistic or dualistic?
I would like to share something I've been working on. I thought it would a fun project to try and create a sort of "musical tarot deck," with a song for each major arcanum. I have three albums planned, and I've just completed the first of the three, covering The Fool through The Chariot. I would love for you to give it a listen.
Arcanum Associated: Stop Me If You've Heard This
My main Tarot influences are the Rider Waite deck, the Tabula Mundi deck, Meditations on the Tarot, the Thoth deck with Crowley's (and Duquette's) commentaries, and the BOTA curriculum. Below I've linked a document that details some of my thoughts on how these songs correspond with the trumps (in some cases, the references are obvious, in others the relationship is more oblique). I've also linked a document containing the lyrics, for those like me that find it helpful to see the lyrics while listening.

I very much appreciate the chance to share this project, which has been a real labor of love. I see posts every now and then on this sub, asking if anybody out there is really doing their "True Will." Usually I see at least one answer that runs something like: people really doing their True Will probably aren't taking time to post about it on Reddit. Perhaps this post splits the difference. After four years or so studying Thelema in earnest, I can't say I know exactly what my True Will might be. But I find myself reflecting more and more that, one way or another, so many roads in my life seem to lead back to music, and it seems to be growing more and more clear to me that music is somehow at the heart of whatever my True Will is.

I randomly stumbled across this figure while linkjumping on Wikipedia. Seems like this has some potential for talismanic/sigil work, no?
Does anybody know of documented and published cases of abuse within modern present day Thelema orders or offshoots? Many thanks for your reply and insight!
I read here that some tattoos are required? Is that true?
Does it 180 your internal life? How is it different than saying joining Christianity or Judaism?
I've dabbled chaos magick. I was thinking about exploring thelema and would like to hear about the power of its magick. Thanks

So I got this today at a second hand bookstore. What should I expect from it.
Cool find, interesting background too.
