"Dominion of Darkness” is a strategy text game in which the player takes on the role of a Sauron-style Lord of Darkness with the goal of conquering the world. He will carry out his plans by making various decisions. He will build his army and send it into battles, weave intrigues and deceptions, create secret spy networks and sectarian cults, recruit agents and commanders, corrupt representatives of Free Peoples and sow discord among them, collect magical artifacts and perform sinister plots. Note – one game takes about 1 hour, but the premise is that the game can be approached several times, each time making different decisions, getting different results and discovering something new. Feedback is very much welcome. Very, very much.
Hi! Thanks to everyone who has posted content regardless of my forgetting I even created this sub. Was really nice to come back and see so much (compared to what I expected) content posted.
Going to be more active and hopefully see things grow a bit more.
This is just what comes to mind now and only includes overt traditional satanic imagery where you embody a satanist or demons specifically (many, many more can be considered satanic in ideology). Those that do not specifically hold a satanic position are marked as implicit - whether the creators intended it or not, though you still embody the analogue of a satanist or demon.
EXPLICITLY SATANIC GAMES
The Forest
It's a choice to fall, though you can easily miss it, it's very natural. The environmental storytelling is the best I've ever seen, very open and extremely realistic on an isolated peninsula with intelligent inhabitants. Its just now announced sequel Sons of the Forest will likely take it a step further (don't be fooled by the fight demons tattoo in the trailer, don't worry I'm sure you can still fall in the sequel/are already possessed)
Diablo 1
With the mod Belzebub not only can you run this on modern hardware with its claymation still looking good, but it also dials some characters' satanic traits to 11, including blood rituals and eventually assuming demonic forms. Hardcore imagery abound, though you can play the opposite as holy warriors as well. Heavy, uncensored religious references that have been dulled down (though are still present) in sequels. Though all games with witchcraft can fall into this category, this is the only one I know where it's extremely overt and traditional.
In the sequels the most overtly satanic characters are the necromancer (brought over in belzebub), sorceress, and demon hunter. Can slaughter angels in D3.
The diablo 4 trailer is well worth watching to the end for some orgasmic imagery
The Darkness
1 is way better than 2, you're a host to the 'teacher' of satan himself. Phenomenal story, best hud in gaming ever.
Planetscape Torment
An older game that still looks really good, can get it on the phone too, haven't finished it yet but its imagery is on point with a really good story and the player character and his party are very satanic. A ton of choice. Almost the same as baldurs gate and icewind dale, though those are less overt - they would fall under implicit.
Darksiders
Played but didn't finish 1 and 2, I'm pretty sure you battle both angels and demons. In each game you play as one of the four horsemen. Kinda cartoony but I'm pretty sure it fits the bill it's been a while.
Blasphemous - haven't tried it yet
The imagery is way, way on point. Not sure about the alignment of the character.
Agony - haven't tried it yet
Very poor reviews the gameplay seems terrible and amateurish but the imagery is gorgeous. Sequel has you playing as a succubus.
Total War Warhammer
Chaos factions are literal demons but there are plenty more satanic references to go around, same goes for all the warhammer strategy games (battlefleet gothic was amazing), but total war is by far the best and most expansive one. Largest game I've ever seen probably, and will only get bigger in the coming years.
Devil May Cry
Forgot most everything about this game but I'm pretty sure the main character(s) is a demon. Dope imagery in DMC at least
Lucius - haven't tried it yet You play as a 6 year old antichrist that murders everyone.
Legacy of Kain - haven't tried yet
Don't know much about it but as far as I can tell Kain is a vampire that performs plenty of satanic magic and rituals.
Overlord
Fun game for kids where you're a lord of hell or something along those lines
Warcraft 2
Haven't played 1 but it's probably the same. The orc faction are just demons who use satanic magic (there are also separate 'daemons' but they're very sparse). Sequel is dumbed down but very good in its own right.
World of Warcraft
Many classes are explicitly satanic - Warlock, priest, death knight, and some new demon something class. Cartoony though.
IMPLICITLY SATANIC GAMES
Carrion - haven't tried it yet
About to be released, it's reverse horror where you're a lovecraftian monster. Looks sick.
Starcraft
Zerg and protoss are analogues for demons and angels - set in the wild west backwater space. Starcraft 1 is way better than the sequel for implicit satanic imagery and story and got a beautiful remaster (that did lose some of the original's soul though).
DOOM
Yeah you kill demons with the illest style ever to grace the eyes of mankind but the character has clear satanic origins despite being presented as the bane of hell. Will probably fight angels too in the upcoming sequel.
Skyrim (or any of the series I guess)
You can become a vampire with strong satanic themes.
Vampire the masquerade - haven't played it yet
Don't know about the old one but the new one is very intriguing. I see some strong satanic themes, I may be wrong.
Quake 3
Multiplayer shooter looooovvvveeeedddd this back in the day, some very good imagery on a few characters and locations.
Lord of the Rings Battle for middle earth & third age total war
Tenuous connection between sauraon and a lord of hell. A couple of demons.
The Witcher
If the name didn't give it away, you're a mutant outcast with well thought out magic and alchemy at your disposal to hunt monsters and men. Phenomenal stories plenty of choice. (Probably the weakest connection on this list but Geralt still has plenty of satanic personality traits and has a very dark past)
I’m always coming back to this one. Excellent emerging narrative, tough and quite a few inside occult jokes. On the face it’s a card game but to explain too much gives it away. Figuring out how to play as a baby cult leader is very satisfying.
It’s on mobile but the PC version has DLC and more updates.
All their games are worth a look.
