I’ve been getting more and more into the law of assumption, SATS and affirmations etc but I can’t use it for the same things I have done spell work for / had spell work done for. Because what I read and what also my caster said is that I need to detach and stop thinking about the spell and also the thing I cast it on. I need to focus on myself and my hobbies and just do other things.

Is that always true? Can we not affirm about the same things we’re working with magic on? Do the two always have to be separate?

I made a money bowl recently because I'm still financially recovering from medical LOA at work. Today I got paid and went to pay my rent for January finally. I went to ask how much it would be with the credit available in my account. Last month I didn't pay Decembers rent until the beginning of January and for some reason never got a 30 pay or quit notice.

Apparently the leasing office lost everyone's rent for December. So when I went to ask today how much I owed they let me know that I was already covered (because I paid December late they counted it as January and let it slide for December) and that my February rent will be discounted because of the extra credit on my account. I was able to catch up all of my over due bills because of it.

I’ve been reading tarot for around 4 years and the deck I use I’ve built a close bond with, I sleep with them next to my bed, and I get very accurate readings from them. So my story is that I was sat with my bf the other night, it was fairly late and he was tired from a long day. I was pestering him that we should go to a fast food place to get milkshakes and he kept denying, so I (as a joke mind you) pulled out my deck asking “will (bf) buy me a milkshake?” And not two shuffles later the Tower card flew out of the deck

Me and my bf had a laugh about it taking the card as a “f No” it was just a funny thing to happen in the moment.

I just keep thinking about it though, does anyone else have these experiences or was it just a one off coincidence? I thought it was funny regardless hahaha

I have seen some content on social media that pink salt is for love spells and that sea salt is for healing. Do you use different types of salts for different purposes? And do you use table salt at all? What about rock salt?

No matter how much energy I seem to put into my craft, I get zero results. I hear stories of people who do their first spell and get results. I feel awful and useless. I have OCD so it's incredibly hard to tell what is my intuition, or what is a product of my anxiety disorder (OCD). I once did a spell, and it ended up working on my sister and not me, so backfire I guess. I think it's partly because of my deep seated self hatred that's preventing me from doing anything good for myself. Sorry for ranting.

I've been incredibly overwhelmed with all the different kinds of magics and practices and traditions and genuinely have no idea where to start.

I don't have the budget for books, and pdfs are mostly wiccan. I'd prefer to be able to get a little spicy on occasion.

There's way too many different methods to do the exact same thing and i feel like a donkey stuck between several hay stacks.

My plan is to just lightly skim on whatever spell i want to do (example: abundance), just do what feels right and get it over with.

Is it necessary for me to do some really indepth research before even considering simple spells? or can i just wing it and see what happens?

I have a jar that's clear that I washed really good and I'm going to cleanse it with an incense outside during the moonlight. I'm going to be placing it beans and rice, sugar, salt, a rock with my name , random rocks and trinkets some Sage cinnamon sticks, pepperoni candy canes crushed up , coffee , magnets, a bay leaf with money sign on it, Himalayan sea salt, crystals, and my Jade and Crystal jewelry and face roller and I plan to write a note in it. I don't know what I want the note to say and I don't know if I'm doing this correctly I figure I'm going to mix all this together put a green candle on top with some incense and burn outside under the moonlight. Is this a good plan? What else can I add? I never tried to do anything like this before. Also where should I keep it?

Do these items feel safe to use for this kind of spell? a white candle, his photo, a sand dollar we found together (to connect to the earth), and rose quartz? I was thinking meditating and lighting the candle while focusing white light around him. I’m not quite sure what words to use that won’t cause his free will or anything to be compromised. Not because I have harmful intentions but because I want to make sure my words are clear enough that it is only a blessing he’d receive. I love him very deeply but only wish him safety and peace while he battles his own demons. Can’t do the battle for him, but wanting to send my love to support him with my energy

Help?

I am looking for information, possibly regarding the "thinning of the veil" but maybe it's something else. I know it's not the time of year for the veil to be thinnest, however this is the best way I can describe the way I have been feeling over the last week or so. There have been days were I cannot stop thinking about loved ones who have passed away. It's not just one person, and it's not everyone I've lost. For example, my best friend from high school passed away in her 30's and we had drifted apart by then. But the other day she was on my mind and I couldn't stop thinking about her. I still have that "feeling of her" in my mind. Today, I just had a complete breakdown over the loss of a dog we had to put to sleep several years ago. We have lost 3 other pets since him and I don't "feel" them at all right now, just this one particular dog. There is no reason for me to feel him so strongly in terms of anniversaries of deaths, birthdays etc... There are a few other people who my brain can't stop thinking about.

This has never happened to me before. It's emotionally taxing and I can't control it. I am not religious and wouldn't even consider myself spiritual, but I don't claim to have any of the answers, so I am open to any interpretations. Does anyone have any information they might be able to share?

I was kind of dropped into my clairsentience following my partner’s passing. It led me on an incredible spiritual journey last year and I was feeling really connected to my spiritual body. The last 3-4 months of 2024 were really tough and I kind of separated from myself again which makes channeling hard.

I had a really beautiful tarot session today which was one of the first times in a long time that I really felt like I was channeling something outside myself and I’m wondering what you do when you want to connect deeper to yourself and spirit.

I’ll be the first to admit that my intro to a lot of spell work and spirituality came via the algorithm, but I do a lot of reading about correspondences and exploring various aspects of spell work on my own. One example of how this manifested is that I didn’t learn about proper grounding until a few weeks ago when someone else posted in here about it and I read through the 101 stuff posted in the sub.

I’ll keep this as short as possible. I’m not sure this is something I actually want to do, as I get scared easily (lol) and I don’t exactly know all of the consequences. My dad is a very stern man and the absolute least person you would expect to be into spirituality and spirits or even believe they exist, but my mom has told me that he used to see them all the time when he was younger and knew things about them, she said he decided to “close that door.” and has chosen to not mess with any of that anymore, and has lived a “normal” life since then. I’ve never brought this up to him because 1.) He would get mad at my mom for telling me, and 2.) I know he would just pretend it doesn’t exist or not tell me even close to all the full details, I know he would dance around it.

What do you think he meant by “closing that door”? Is it really that easy to just decide to not see them one day out of nowhere and they’ll just listen? Or maybe he stopped interacting with them so they slowly stopped showing themselves to him? I would really like your guy’s perspective on all of this as it would probably be more valuable than talking to him about it.

Also, if it’s possible to close that door, is it also possible to open it? And how would I go about doing it?

I've had a really hard week, starting with an old friend passing due to cancer last weekend and continuing with work crap throughout the week. My therapist today noticed I was holding a lot of rage for some reason! She recommended a "shoutlet" pillow to scream into, or something to squish and tear and bang around, then put in my compost or fire to release that emotion. With Imbolc coming up, I feel like it's a good time to put this into a spiritual frame and ask for Brigid (in her Smith aspect) to help me manage the heat and intensity of my rage while I externalize and disperse it.

I'm thinking about sewing a small muslin pillow and stuffing it with cotton batting to scream into, then burning it in the cleansing flames of my Imbolc fire. Anyone have any thoughts on adding things to the stuffing or other ideas to really encourage acknowledgement and release of this burning anger I find within myself?

I saw this video called "why Lucifer should never be trusted" where a girl said she worked with him and he betrayed her trust and told her that Satan is good and that they enslave and create followers among other things. Does anyone actually work with Lucifer and can you tell me if working with him and demons in general is okay. If not, what other entities can I work with?

I’ve always been incredibly connected to Thanatos, having been visited by him in dreams since I was a little kid before even knowing who Thanatos was or anything of the sort (I used to call him Skullface, he didn’t seem to mind). I’m 21 now, I’ve learned so many lessons about life and death through him and I spread them when I can, I am currently working on a tattoo sleeve in his honor and to represent his impact on my life, I have an altar for him… basically I am a devout follower. But I was wondering, is there a specific term for those who follow him? I cant find much online, and I know he didn’t really have a following or a cult in ancient Greece. But is there a term that’s been coined since? I’d like to have a title, it’d feel more personal. If there isn’t one that already exists I may try to ask him myself

TW: THREATS OF VIOLENCE MENTIONED

Hey everyone, this is a rough ride so buckle in.

Years ago I had a bad encounter with a familiar spirit. It was completely my fault and I’ve ended up having long lasting effects from this bad choice I made. I regret it entirely and I want to know if there’s a way to make amends or to apologize.

So two, almost three years ago I had an uncle pass away. He was awful to my mother and my two younger sisters because he was being fed lies by someone who wanted to hurt my family. I didn’t know that at the time and thought he was the one behind all the lies. He threatened to hurt my younger siblings with pew pews and he was always drunk/drinking and trying to hurt people. 17 year old me decided if there’s one thing you don’t do, it’s threaten my sisters or my mother. I hated this man with all my heart and it hurt so bad because I used to love him as a child, before he was this way. Eventually he passed away from his lifestyle habits and he went out with all the anger and violence aimed toward us still in his heart.

I have always been able to sense / see spirits and I’m empathetically gifted which is what got me into witchcraft. So after he died, when his spirit showed up I was beyond angry. He had made my mother’s life hell and made us scared to be outside of the safety of our home. I was going through a nasty sickness and had a severe lapse in my judgement. I pushed every negative thought and energy I had ever had about this man at his spirit. I have never felt so much hate and anger in my life, I can’t even describe the amount of hate and malice I threw at him. It was so bad that I was full body shaking by the time he had gone. I had never done any type of spell or channeling with intent to harm, but I wanted to hurt this man.

After that I became so sick I had to go to the hospital. Ever since that day I cannot escape getting very sick at that same time of year each year. I also get much sicker now with any illness than I used to before the incident. It’s slowly wearing down, but I never used to have problems before this. I still feel him lurking around from time to time, but I can’t reach out to him. I feel like part of what I did stuck with him, and it affects his spirit similar to how it harms me.

I deeply regret what I did that day, because I now know he didn’t deserve it. He knows now that he was fed lies, and he regrets how he acted to my family. But I still cursed him. I want to know if there is any way to make amends with him or help me reach out to him to fix things. I don’t know if there’s a way to reverse the backfired affects of that day on me, but I’m more concerned with making sure he knows that I am sorry for what I did to him.

If you have any advice, please help me. I’m desperate.

I've been a practitioner of witchcraft for around a year, and I've had mostly mixed results. My positive spells seem to always flop, unless they're protecton, while my negative spells always hit the bullseye.

I tried luck and got nothing. I tried drawing love to me, nothing. Wealth, nothing. The only thing I feel worked is protection, but I'm not entirely sure about that one.

My hexes however always hit the mark. I hexed two people I didn't like so they'd break up, bam, they broke up. I hexed someone's car because I was angry at them, (which I later took the hex back because I realized in hindsight it was inappropriate, ever since they've been talking about repair options,) bam, their car transmission blew.

I don't see the discrepancy between the two. I use naturally harvested ingredients from my yard for both the hexes and spells, or kitchen spices. The car hex was a burning paper spell, while the breakup was a jar. The luck,

So I just bought this book- more out of curiosity than anything else. I couldn’t get any views of the content- well I got it fairly cheap- ( some copies are going for $175 or more) - and that’s good because I felt the book to be rudimentary- not much background on the spells , and quite a bit of “it is said to have xyz effect”

I wasn’t impressed and I’ll be reselling it .Does anyone here have good things to say about it - am I missing the value?

I would LOVE to know what everyone else uses their moon water for! I am looking to expand my use of my moon water in more of a daily basis. I have drank it (when prepared and stored correctly), I’ve used it to help my plants, I’ve bathed in it, etc. I’d like to get some more creative ideas 🥰

Heyy so I didn't wanna melt my wax the long way so I put a chunk of wax on top of the jar and put it in the microwave. Less than 5 seconds in and the Cork flies off, luckily managed to save the ingredients and put them back in the jar; but I was just wondering if I should start again anyway incase of bad energy and what not? I know what I did was really stupid but I'm in a rush and this is kind of an emergency spell haha. Any advice is appreciated, thanks. :)

So, I work with four different deities these days; Apollo, Bast, Aphrodite, and Hecate. That’s a lot of deities to have altar space for when I can only have my practice in my bedroom! 😵‍💫 (Christian household)

So, to give them each their space and have some space for myself in my room, I bought some small wooden boxes on Amazon. I painted the insides black to match my decor, and I’m working on painting the insides to represent each deity. I’m going to sticky tack in some crystals, carvings and other things for each deity. I can probably get away with a small tea light without burning the house down if I really wanted to, but I’m probably going to get battery operated candles for them for safety.

But, I made a good amount of progress on Aphrodite’s box painting this evening, and I want to share! I don’t paint often, so I’m kind of proud of it! (Picture below)

I've noticed that a lot of magick practices can be really affected by not knowing yourself well. I'm in the middle of creating this thing and I'd love to hear from you: what are the biggest mental roadblocks you face when you're doing your rituals?

I'm thinking of keeping things pretty broad, without focusing on any specific type of ritual. My goal is to create something that's helpful for everyone, from the conservative Christian who just prays, to the Satanist who does full-on rituals with pentagrams and candles.

Okay so I recently decided to start using Tarot and my girlfriend just happened to have a deck she never used or learned to use

i know that you aren't supposed to use someone else's deck but would that matter because its never been used?

I'm fairly inexperienced and I've gathered some ingredients for hot foot powder (ground chilli, black pepper, salt, graveyard dirt, dust from a busy road) but have never used it before. Is there anything I should know before using it? I come from more of a tasseography/divination background so I'm just paranoid about accidentally misusing it.

I’m pretty new, but in all the research I’ve done, you customize a spell to fit your needs. But I saw a post (probably on Reddit somewhere) saying that a spell they did for protection backfired and harmed them. Is this something I need to worry about? Am I opening myself up to danger by doing a protection spell “wrong”?

I experienced a tiny omen the other day.

In my apartment, outside my front door there is a landing. We have a shoe rack and the stairs leading down the entrance.

The landing light has been out for weeks.

I noticed that the landing light was finally fixed while waiting for a friend at my front door. They came over in a hurry and seemed distraught so I was already concerned. As soon as they were in view, the light went out. I remember thinking, “that’s witchcraft. That’s an omen. This is bad news.”

And sure as shit, it was the worst news. Someone had passed away.
