A solitary practitioner is an individual who chooses to practice their spiritual faith in the privacy of his or her home or other designated space, without the need to participate in a group such as that of a coven.

Wicca is a contemporary Pagan new religious movement. Wicca draws upon a diverse set of ancient pagan and 20th century hermetic motifs for its theological structure and ritual practice. Wicca has no central authority. There are many variations on the core structure, and the religion grows and evolves over time.

Solitary Wicca is a place for witches to come together comfortably and share ideas, rituals, recipes, recommendations, and support for the adept as well as the beginner.

Is healing dangerous

Hello all, one of my main reasons to being drawn to witchcraft was I found I could heal myself as well as my dogs and I even healed my boyfriend. I recently just heard or Reiki which sounds just like what I've been doing. Yet I hadn't heard of it before and it sounds almost like a closed concept.

I also laid off of this because I try to draw out the negative energy and pushing else where then put in positive. Recently my dog got stabbed in the mouth and was bleeding and by doing this I instantly stopped the bleeding and was able to heal it but I don't think I released the wound well enough and within the hour I had a cut on my gums . I'm looking for input on Reiki and on if Healing can be dangerous?

Candles Safe for Baby?

Hi all. I'm a bit of a strange spiritual person. At the moment, I'm trying to blend Christianity and Wicca. Weirdly, I have a lot of peace about it. That all being said, I have a newborn baby girl and I'm trying to find candles for use on my altar that will be safe to burn around my baby. Any links or tips? Any help is much appreciated.

Interested in being pen pals?

27F from Texas looking for any witchcraft/occult enthusiasts for snail mail pen pal. I have social anxiety and fast paced correspondences like messaging or emailing tends to stress me out when I run out of things to talk about, so I thought I would give snail mail a try.

I've been practicing for about 5 years and still learning. I like to read in my free time, usually things I'm interested in researching, but I wouldn't say no to a good book recommendation. I also knit and crochet, occasionally bake and craft. The main videogames I play are stardew valley and animal crossing.

I'm homosexual, married, no kids, 3 cats, and I work at an auto parts store. My day to day life is very uneventful, so I would mainly talk about what what I'm currently reading, work, etc. I don't have anyone to talk to people outside of work and my wife, so I'm pretty excited to see what happens.

If you're interested PM me, thanks.

Thunderstorm Rainwater

Today it rained during a thunderstorm and I was able to collect some of its rainwater. I was unable to find anything about it online since I can't go to a library or shop at the moment. However, I was wondering if anyone here has any fact about this type of rainwater. Please and thank you.

Relationship with the Goddess and how to understand her will?

Hey.

I recently came under the auspices of the Goddess Freya.

I really like her, and so much so that I want to have intimacy with her, sex.

I asked different people who understand Tarot and Runes about her will on this issue.

And the answers were different.

In one case, the prohibition of masturbation, fantasies, etc.

Others, on the contrary, said that she did not mind.

But how to be sure of her will exactly?

After all, if I am wrong, then I will anger her.

Sorry for my bad english.

In general, any advice on communication with Freya is also interesting.

If you're a seasoned traveler of the path, please join us at Maiden, Mother, and Crone - a subreddit for those who have 10+ years of practice in Wicca, witchcraft, neo-pagan, pagan, occult, or other natural spiritual path.

r/MaidenMotherAndCrone is a new subreddit for those of us who have walked our path for decades, and want to "witch & bitch" with others of similar experience.

Maiden, Mother, and Crone - the three aspects of the Triple Goddess, each symbolic of a phase of the cycle of life. None is more important that the others, and each has wisdom to teach.

That having been said, Reddit's user base skews largely to the younger end of the spectrum, and the pagan-focused subreddits tend to be filled with posts from new travelers, and people looking for quick-fix magic.

We felt there was a need for a place where those among us who have been walking the path for decades can come together to talk about our common interests, concerns, reminisce about the old days, etc.

We are the parents who raised their children in the craft, the retired couple who own the metaphysical shop down the street, the "free-spirited" aunt with the house full of cats and crystals.

We may not have written the Book of Shadows your Circle uses, but we knew the people who did. We've been around the block a time or three, and our days of hiding our tarot decks from our parents are, thankfully, long behind us.

Now, while we are happy to chat with you about the best type of wax for your ritual candle making, or where in your town you can safely have a private handfasting under the full moon, we are limiting posting-privileges to approved users who have been practicing for 10+ years. Newcomers are welcome to read, comment, and vote on our posts, and are welcome to join us as approved users once they're more experienced.

If you would like to become an approved poster, please click the "Request to Post" button in the sidebar, or send a message to the moderators - please include the following in your request: your age, years in practice, and which path you follow.

Thanks, and welcome!

Advice for a beginner questioning if Wicca is the right path?

(On my phone sorry if the format is weird. TL;DR at the bottom. Previously posted to r/Wicca r/Pagan and r/TraditionalWicca ...I’m casting a wide net lol)

I first became interested in Wicca in high school then came back to it now 13 years later. Well I recently set up my altar and I haven’t been doing much of anything, because I’m still in my learning/research phase, but I wanted to get used to opening and closing a circle. So thats what I do but in between I just sit there and meditate instead of doing anything super serious or intensive. When opening or closing my circle though I noticed I get extremely uncomfortable when it comes to referencing The Goddess and The Horned God. I did some reflecting and I think this is because I just don’t fundamentally believe in a diety. I liked the aspect of thanking and showing respect and worship to the elements and earth/nature though. I definitely believe in the energy of life. I feel like energy can not be created or destroyed and all life is inherently energy. So when life dies it’s energy is still here bringing me to my question.

I still want to practice some sort of ritualistic spiritual.....something? I don’t know. I’m at this huge crossroads/transition in my life and I know I’m supposed to be finding something in this area. I have always believed in an after life so I was wondering if there was something that involves the ancestors that revolves around positivity and guidance. I found setting up my altar was calming so I do like the ritualistic aspect a lot. I’m looking for something rooted in the Nordic region, I don’t know my entire genetic make up but I do know my mothers family is from Finland and some tracing back to England. So I’d like something I have a connection to but I am open to anything.

Thank you for bearing with me and reading all of this but if you didn’t:

TL;DR: Any suggestions for ritualistic practices/religions/Wiccan branches or traditions that focus on ancestors for guidance?

Feeling betrayed by my practice

The culprit

So, I'm 20f agnostic wiccan with roughly three years practicing plus eight or so years research under my belt. I believe in the universe/karma and the rule of three. I'm comfortable in my craft and needless to say, I'm confident in my ability to make a spell jar competently. But this is just....sad.

I had been struggling with things for the past couple months. Job was taking too much of my time and was very emotionally and physically draining. I was in a lot of pain (sciatic nerve is a bitch) and wasn't able to keep the house clean, practice my craft, and work on presents (I promised my sisters some hand made build a bear clothes, among other projects for others). This all piled together with my depression and just sent me down hill. I decided that I needed to start somewhere to make myself feel better, and thought reconnecting with my craft was a good start.

I charged/cleansed my tarot and some crystals in the moon light and spent the next day meditating and working with my cards. I thought that maybe I could make a spell jar to help me with my goal. I used black salt, cascarilla powder, rose petals, lavender, and salt. I sealed with purple wax to put a focus on spirit, because my spirit always needs help. My intention was to gain more time to work on the tasks that had been bothering me, while working on self love and calming. I distinctly remember thinking 'I hope this doesn't give me more time in a bad way'. Literally the very next day I had to be rushed to the ER because I had a very large blood clot in my leg and at least two small ones in my lung.

I don't know what I did wrong. Was this something the universe did in retaliation? The clot was very fresh, around a week old or so, so it could be a possibility. I also lost my job because apparently a week long stay in the hospital to make sure I don't get another clot in my lungs is too much for a part time employee. Or maybe the universe was kind and gave me more time, in that it allowed me to catch this before it got any worse/killed me, allowed me to become aware of my apparent genetic high clotting factors, and got me out of a job I hated. I legitimately wanted to die rather than go in every day.

I want to practice more, to meditate with my cards and just be calm. Wicca has been my escape from my depression for so long, I don't really know how to cope without it. But I'm honestly a little scared. If this was a mistake on my end, what happens if I do it again?

TL;DR:

Made a spell jar for more time off work in order to work on projects and cleaning the house, while encouraging the usual self love and calming. May have tainted it by thinking that it better not work by doing something bad. It either backfired and lead to a week long hospital stay, possible genetic disorder, and the loss of my job, or it worked by letting me catch blood clots before they had a chance to kill me, tipped me off to the possible genetic clotting disorder before it too could kill me, and got me out of a job I hated. Now I'm feeling betrayed by my craft, and am kind of scared to continue practicing despite Wicca being the thing that keeps my brain box producing the proper serotonin levels. Reassurance is appreciated, help understanding needed.

Mabon Apple Fun! DIY Empowered Potpourri for Prosperity

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share one part of how I celebrated Mabon this year. I decided to go with the apple theme this year and go a bit little nuts. I made apple potpourri, drank warm apple cider, and gave an offering of sliced apples to the spirits around the home. There were also a few apple pie shots at a bar, but we won't get into that...

Wanna see what I did and find my Mabon Apple Empowered Potpourri chant/recipe? Here's my video link: https://youtu.be/oySbzNbIPLQ

What was your favorite thing to do for Mabon? Not just this year, but any year. Let me know guys!

Celebrating Mabon

Being the first Autumn Equinox I get to celebrate I'm intrigued to see how everyone else celebrates this. I know it is a time for balance and raising energy so I will be meditating on that thought.

In this little chat, Tylluan talks about the different ways we can use weather in our spells. Solitary witches need to be able to empower their spells as forcefully as possible, and using the weather can be very helpful.

New to Wicca, where do I start?!

Hello all! I've been intrigued with Wicca for years now and have always felt a connection to it. I'm now attempting to start practicing and would love to know where to even start. What I really feel drawn to is candle magick and just feeling in tune with nature.

Thanks in advance!

What crystals do I buy?

Throwaway account so people I know don't ridicule me for exploring wicca. Also posting on a few wicca sub reddits to get plenty of information to help me.

I've just cleared my windowsill and thinking of buying some crystals which can sit nicely on there when not being used and cam charge while being there. I'm not a wicca just yet, I'm just exploring it.

I don't have much money, I'm in the UK, what kind of crystals should I start with and why? I've had a look on Amazon but not sure where to start.

Thanks in advance.

Casting a circle

Hey everyone! I did my first ever ritual today and I was really happy with it! I just have a few questions because the books I'm reading don't seem to explain very well.... When you are casting your circle, do you have your tools representing the elements on the floor (on the circle), or on your altar? Do you always mark out your circle? I live in my in-laws house and prefer not to make a mess. What exactly should you have on your altar? (this question kind of goes back to question 1 as well. Do you have duplicate things if you have some of the things on the floor?) Sorry if it doesn't make sense I'm very new and super confused. I had been putting off doing this ritual because I didn't want to mess it up but I went for it anyway and did it even though it might be wrong because today was the best day for it. Thanks for your help!
