Hello!
Long story short, I was taking apart a very old noped (1950s or something) and whoever had the bike before had welded the head onto the steering column. In order to get it off, I had to saw through the head. Unfortunately, on my first cut (halfway) I went a little too wide without realizing, sawing into the steering column itself.
Dimensions: OD 22mm, ID ~20mm, cut did not go through the tube
The only trouble is that I need it to be round and just about the same diameter as original. I considered welding a new 22mm piece on top after cutting this off, but then realized the tube might be too thin and that the weld might poke out and not let me put the head on later.
Let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance! :)
Older commuters like most famously CG125 honda, YBR125 yamaha, GN125 suzuki are all really MACHINES
why you might ask? their design is the answer actually, 2 valve overhead valve air cooled design requires literally zero oil to lubricate it(my shitbox cg125 have been running with one glass of oil for 2000km's by accident, i forgot to refill oil after draining it.)
also maintenance is ridicolusly super easy, wanna change oil? 1 nut for pan 1 nut for filter, also filter doesnt need to be replaced you can simply wash it, same with air filter, its basically a kitchen sponge.)
mileage; bro you will forgot when you added fuel, due to they are being 125cc and carburated(yeah ik fuel injection is superior in terms of air/fuel mixture) you can expect anywhere between 1.0-1.6l/100km/l mine's around 1.3l/100km with going 80km/h on max with heavy stop&go traffic.
spare parts; they are sold for price of a junk, you can find any piece on any website (original or knockoff chinese doesnt matter) in seconds. especially CG125 is famous for its modifications in asia.
crash; also if you crash there is basically no fairing so you will just rub metal against asphalt, no broken plastic bullshit.
if somethings breaks? all parts are simple and have one goal to keep rear wheel spinning, no tech bullshit no anything, your bike wont start? 4 things to control; fuel, compression, spark, air if they are all on point it will start.(mine intake valve was so out of spec it was shooting compressed air back into the carburator but was still starting and riding like a king)
also they are basically all terrain vehicles, dirt, snow, mud, asphalt doesnt matter, adjust your tires to the situtation and move. if you do a lot of off road stuff switch to spoked, if you ride in city switch to alloywheels
i dont think anyone will be able to kill these commuters, they are designed with longevity and reliablity in mind for 3rd world countries, mine shitbox still runs like a dream after being abused for 15 years(yes its old)
author;someone who just likes his shitbox so much.
note; forgot to add also cg125 and gn125 has a rotating transmission meaning. 5 down or 5 up doesnt matter, pressing lower upshifts, pressing upwards downshifts, no limits. you can also drop to 1st gear by pressing down 7 times.
neutral
1,2,3,4,5 rotate neutral 1.
Hello, so I wanted a bike for the past 10yrs, finally in early September I got my bike, 2002 Honda hornet 600 with 35k km in seemingly perfect condition. My first ride was barely 2km around the block and most of the time I was in 1st with no throttle, hit 20km/h at best and it felt fast. Second and third ride I was on the road but in the middle of the night, did about 20km each time, 50km/h at max and it was fun. I managed to ride in the middle of thick AF fog, a dear crossed the street like 5m before me, got pulled over ( there was an issue with turn signals where right would turn off when I stopped pressing sometimes). So not like I was just in the parking lot. I am not afraid of riding itself. But for the love of god I just can't force myself to go out on the road during the day. Any advice? As far as skills, obviously are low but the only thing that I actually feel I should improve before riding in traffic would be starting. I'm either slooow or I stall. Do you think it's just that preventing me from riding and some more practice will do or what?
Hi everyone, just got my license in Germany a week an a half ago... Saw at the dealership a new f800gs 2024 for about 12k euro ( will be 13k on the road) it's the lowered version of the bike, I'm 1.70m so I can put both feet comfortably on the ground. I'm really considering this bike as a first bike. Anyone got any advice or concerns I should think about?
Can someone help settle a debate please.
I always get on from the left side, getting on from the right feels wrong and I always loose my balance, but many people have said it's better to get on from the right.
For reference, this is not about any specific bike, choppers and sports alike, I can't get on from the right side. (but my main bike is quite high and I'm in the tiptoe gang)
What side do you get on?
Yesterday i crashed my bike by slipping on wet side of rode when I was cornering and the turn was a little sharper than I expected, luckily the bike was miraculously not damaged like not even a scratch since it crashed in a grass ditch anyway I fell and I don't have any scratches since im fully geared up but when I turn my head to one side one of the muscles in my neck just hurts not in a extremely painfully way but more like after a extreme workout muscle soreness it's on the side that didn't touch the ground, I can move everything fine and I don't have trouble's with lifting or grasping things and I have full range of motion it just feels annoying should I get it checked up or wait a couple days to see if it goes away?
Hey! I’m from the UK and just about to buy my first bike (125cc). Does anyone have any recommendations for gear. I was looking at some gloves and helmets, but the prices seem to range from practically nothing to insanely expensive! So recommendations would be much appreciated! X Many thanks EB
Problem with bears in Romania mountains, where tourist feed them from cars. It is scary to ride there, when bear is few meters from you. Even worse is when cars in front of you stop to take photo and you have to stop next to the bear.
Hello everyone! Im just about to drop my old bike and switch to a bigger one.. (from 50cc sm to somewhere between 125-450cc) Can someone experienced suggest me a reliable bike? What did you guys used to switch to?
So my bike just will not start, I have filed down the valves, changed the piston and the rings. Filled the piston with carb cleaner and the damn thing just won't even bark. I've checked for spark, changed the CDI all to no avail. I am desperate and need help.
Shot on an insta360 OneRS and a GoPro Hero 10. Audio from a Rode video mic 2 and a Zoom H1N mounted in various places. Thruxton 900 with British Customs Predator Pro exhaust.
Do I just take it somewhere to get plugged?
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I am looking for something that is small (hopefully not much externally stuck onto helmet) and works with in-helmet speakers so I can keep using my earplugs.
I might want to get an intercom/cardo system down the line so it would be great if I can just plug it in and use the same set of speakers, just don't have friends right now that ride :)
If the 2025 Kawasaki Z900 is being manufactured in Thailand and exported to countries like the USA and UK, where it has already launched, why hasn’t Kawasaki launched it in Thailand yet? What is their strategy there?
I don’t find 2025 Z900 in Thailand Motor Expo.
Now I will probably never know what bikes the lovely folks in comments ride!!
And how will I fight the pesky grom rides?!?!
What has this world come to😭😭😭
Hello, I just bought a 1999 honda cb750 and I’m trying to find good dual sport tires for it but I can’t find anything. The sizes are front 110/80-18 and rear 140/70-17. I keep reading people’s advice on here saying to not mix bias ply and radial, to not mix tire brands and I just am not sure. I want to go on some back roads and trails but I also want to get around on the street and freeway. Any advice is welcome or recommendations.
I got a tbi from a motorcycle accident and I told my dad that I don’t think I will/should ride again. I’ll admit, he called out the fact that I’ve spoken to my aunt(his sister) about it, to which she said from the very beginning that I should be careful/shouldn’t be, riding. I did tell him that she did influenced my decision but she didn’t make it for me. The way I listened to my aunt was, I’ll listen to her but won’t let her make up my mind. I spoke to my uncle, dad’s brother, and he was saying that my mom didn’t even want me on the damn thing in the first place. She’s gonna have her opinions and he’ll have his but to essentially make up my own mind. When I told my dad he got super defensive and started bashing my aunt and uncle for “swaying me away from riding.” Riding was a bonding method for him and I, and when I told him I was dropping it, it seemed like I was telling him that I killed his puppy or something. He’s always been a tempered dude, even towards me sometimes, but I didn’t think he’d react this childishly towards this. I just want to know, what to say to make him understand where I’m coming from
Hey guys!
Bought a new bike yesterday, really nice bike. However, I’m really struggling to get it to start. I kick anything between 8-20 times to get it started. I have the choke on, open throttle a little bit, but just doesn’t seem to bite.
Any idea’s? Could it be bad spark plugs? It also doesn’t idle, which makes me think it could be fuel to air ratio? What do you guys think?
Please answer my questions in detail
