Hey everyone!
I'm about to pull the trigger on an SV650 and trying to decide whether to go for the ABS model or stick with the non-ABS. I know that ABS can be a huge safety benefit, especially in tricky conditions, but I’d like to hear from those with experience on both versions.
For those who own or have ridden both, is the ABS really worth it? How does it feel on the SV650 in particular, and does it make a noticeable difference in everyday riding? I'm curious if anyone's found it helpful in unexpected situations, or if you feel it’s just not necessary.
Thanks in advance for the advice!
Hi folks quick question.
Is my 2020 sv650 running right?
So my new to me bike pulls decently to about 80mph. Then is very very slow past that point. Struggling to hit 100mph on my closed private road. This is with me at 96kg.
Does that sound right to you other owners? Specs say the bike has a max speed of 130mph.
Cheers.
Edit.
Took it to mechanic, yep it was throttle restricted. Totally different bike now!
I have a 2017 SV650 for two full Sean’s now and there’s always been a little jingle sound coming from the case/motor area. I can’t hear it with my helmet on but pretty clear helmet off. I can’t find anything loose, bike runs great. Has anyone else noticed this on their gen 3 SV?
Does anyone know where this is suppose to go in at can’t find a diagram or a video
I just bought a 2024 SV650 as my 2nd bike and I'm loving it. Is there a mod that would add cruise control? I want to do some road trips without holding the throttle for hours at a time.
Hello, I have always wanted to go offroad, not crazy offroad, just to get to the spot I want and chill. However I have faced a couple of issues, I have an sv650, and im too short and broke to buy an adventure bike, also I do not want something thats sub 70 horsepower, so I cant go with a scrambler either. I really love my third gen sv650, however I do not wanna damage it. What type of modifications and tyres would I need to be able to do so? Again no crazy stuff only getting from A to B in light offroad.
I got some Cortec bags to mount on the SV and the rear turn signals are in the way. Has anyone mounted pannier style bags on the SV?
Gday guys, new to the family. What is the procedure for checking the oil level. Do I need to first warm her up to see oil in the sight glass? Or even when cold should I see the oil between the reference lines. Cheers
Hey guys just wondering if anyone has had this issue, I've owned my sv650 for about a year and have been chasing a bogging down/lack of acceleration under load issues,
I had a lot of rust in the tank and have pulled it and used a rust converter and cleaned majority of the rust out as well as resealed it, I then replaced plugs, coils, and fuel pump + the housing and filter but the issue persists I was wondering if you guys have had a similar problem like a popping/bogging when you twist throttle cheers
I just got a 1999 sv650 and it's leaking a Little oil on the right side towards the bottom of the engine I think it might be coming from a thread from one of the screws any ideas?
I'm a happy user of a sv650 2k3. Yesterday I had to park under the train all day when I was at work. After the workday I went there to turn it on and it was ok, but during the commuting home at the beginning I heard the engine going with 1cilinder. When the engine reached 80°C it just started working regularly. This morning I took it from the garage and it worked fine. Where I live it rains pretty often, so I'd like to understand what the problem could be. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I have a 2002 SV650 that came with an M4 slip on. After riding it for years, it is way too loud and my ears ring after 30 min rides. It's an older M4 that doesn't accept the M4 baffles. Does anyone have a recommendation for slip on that is as quiet or more quiet than the OEM exhaust? The exhaust pipe was cut for the slip on, otherwise I would just find an OEM muffler.
I recently got the opportunity to own an SV650 for quite a good price, and would like to build it out for stunt riding. Would this bike platform be good for that?
Curious since I’ve seen a couple online sold for various amounts. I may have a spare cluster for naked 1st gens around 22k miles.
On my 04 sv650s, I can get into first from neutral when the motor is running and sitting still, but can’t get back to neutral or second until I shut off the bike. Sound familiar to anyone?
Guys, is there a quick and easy way to install clip-ons on a naked SV? Can the clip-ons and triple clamp come from a 650S? Does anyone have any experience with this switch?
The detectives involved with the grand theft larceny case of my stolen motorcycle emailed me today and said I can pick my bike up from the yard whenever I “have free time”.
I have my keys up to Progressive to get the insurance money for a new ride.
What should I do?
Is there a way to get new keys made if the bike is even rideable?
So I just picked up a 2008 sv650 and when trying to start it up it won't start even in neutral unless the clutch is pulled in. Is that normal? I have a 2017 kawasaki vulcan s that it doesn't need to be pulled in when in neutral so wanted to see if that's how it's supposed to be or not. Thanks
Hey guys, new to this. I bought a 2022 SV650 back in 2022, I have about 8K miles. I sadly went down this weekend on the side of the road (all grass) but it caused some light damage to the bike and I wonder since I need to replace parts if people would help me with some recommendations for parts.
-Handle bar -Foot peg -Bar end mirrors -Front windscreen -Any other things you feel should be upgraded
Also I am a heavier rider (250lbs) and I was wondering if it’s worth looking at suspension swaps and a sprocket change to help with lower end torque, I mainly do work commuting (50 miles/day) and fun weekend rides with some friends.
Thank you for your help. Appreciate it.
Hi, I'm checking out a 1st gen that needs to be jumped every time to start. The owner has a battery tender hooked up with a voltage reader. We tested it and the voltage will jump from ~13V to ~14V at normal revs. This would lead me to think the rectifier/regulator & stator are fine, however why wouldn't the battery be able to "recover" after some road time and start charging normally? One caveat is the owner did do a DYI led setup, not sure how he hooked it up to the harness but there's a chance this is draining the battery. Those lights are currently off and we still can't get the battery to hold charge. Thoughts? Apologies im a noob
Im very new to bikes and looking to buy a 2009 sv650, it was crashed before just looks like fairing scratches but the gas tank is dented in pretty bad. I have previous car experience and i am an okay wrencher I’m not exactly sure if it runs or not tho. Any advice and/or what i should be expecting if i were to jump into this?
