2022 pursuit drivability issues after long rides (300+ miles)chugging and surging + vacuum locked gas tank.

Posting for my father in law. So bear with me.

Complaint: After riding for long periods of time (+300 miles) the bike will start chugging under throttle. Rider will stop and try to open gas tank. Tank is under vacuum and hard to open, but once they can get it open the bike will ride normal for a short period and then start chugging again.

Just curious if any one els has experienced this?

I am aware that there is a common issue with the gas tank vent hole not lining up with its gasket in the gas cap. Could this all be the same issue?

Is the vacuum in the tank higher than the suction of the fuel pump to where it becomes fuel starved ?

Any insight or direction is appreciated.

Wasn’t able to find any TSBs from the manufacturer on this issues.

Cheers.

Neighborhood friendly exhaust options

I’ve been running straight shorties on the bike since basically I bought it back in 15, and recently had a baby. After having the baby I reinstalled the stock slips back on and j hate how quiet it is. So now I’m looking into quieter options that still have tone. I was considering trying to get a stage 1 used but they still run for 400$ used so I’m open to anything.

2017 Scout - Random Oil Overflow?!

2017 Indian Scout (69cu). Under 4k miles, garage kept, live in TN. I just went downstairs to check on it as I am determined to find a day soon to ride a little. I opened the oil fill/dipstick, and oil DUMPED out from that hole. At least 4oz, maybe up to 10oz (complete guesstimate, as I was in shock). As if it was somehow magically overfilled above and beyond what you could possibly fill using the fill hole unless it was laying on it side while you filled it.

What the hell could be causing this?!

For context, I checked oil level about a month ago and topped it up by a couple ounces. At that time, I threw on a battery tender. My dad is visiting, and he also said that he cranked the bike for about 5 seconds yesterday (while I was at the NICU with my newborn). Otherwise, this seems like some kind of magic... I even ripped the bike all the way to the left to see if there was an air pocket I could loosen up.

People that went from a Scout to a Chief, regardless of height/weight, do you regret it or is it better?

I live in hot climate and I have a Scout Rogue with a bunch of upgrades (Fox shocks, S&S intake, tune, 2-1 exhaust, fancy lights, saddlemen seat) and it’s a blast to ride it. I feel like with the liquid cooled engine it suits the weather where I live for most of the year. I kinda have an opportunity to buy an Indian Chief for $10k USD (the 22’ standard model without ride command). I feel like I could “upgrade” and then sell the scout to recover most of the $10k and break even. I just still don’t know if the Chief is really an upgrade. I know it has low end torque but less speed. Has anyone here gone from one to the other and did you regret or feel like it was the best decision in terms of the engine and the bike’s capabilities.

Is this a good deal?

Hey guys, new to motorcycles and I'm going with an Indian. I know the Chief is a beefy boi for a first bike but it felt like the deal is too good to pass up. Am I missing something? It's a 2022 Indian Chief Bobber Dark horse with 3,500 miles on it for $10,800.00

I've already pulled the trigger and have the bank sending me the check to pick up this thing on Friday. I'm just so damn excited and after riding it, I'm hooked and can't wait. Don't really know who else to talk to about this so I figured this could be the spot. Any tips, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

10" risers vs reduced reach handlebar on Sport Chief

I'm 178cm (5'10) and have to lean quite a bit forward to ride my stock Sport Chief. My back isn't happy after 30 minutes of riding.

Besides that turning the bars fully to the left/right (e.g. during very low speed turns) is very difficult for me because I can barely reach the farthest side of the bar at maximum turns.

I'd prefer to have the bar just a bit closer to me so I can sit (almost) straight. I'm wondering if 10" risers would help much here or if I should get reduced reach handlebars. My dealer only has stock bikes so there's nothing there that I can try. Anyone has any tips?

Is it possible? Converting a 101 into a Bobber

Per the title, I want the 101 brakes, suspension and hp, but I like the Bobber style more with the lower handlebar and the nacelle for the headlight.

So if I get a 101, can I just order the nacelle and handlebar, and replace the parts on the bike?

It makes more sense to me than buying a Bobber and upgrading suspension, brakes (?) and getting the remap.
