XSR900 Wont start unless I use battery tender right before turning.

(EDIT: This issue is present after installing new battery.) Hey guys. I'm not super saavy with motorcycle maintenance but I know the basics. I've taken good care of my 2019 XSR which has given me no problems until I moved to a home without a garage and had to store it covered outside over winter.

After tending the battery it started a handful of times no problem but now the battery doesn't seem to hold a charge. I replaced the battery thinking that would be the end of it but no go. The key turns, I hear the engine turn over once and then 'click, click, click, click'.

It seems to start up again if I connect it to the tender. Anyone know what my problem might be?

Rieju rs3 nkd 50cc rpms go up slowly

When I come to a full stop and start moving again in first the rpm rises slowly. It usually goes up to 5000-6000 rpm and then sits there for a bit and only then goes higher. If I switch to second at 5-6000 rpm it wont go more than 30kph, so i need to get it to atleast 9000rpm. Is this regular for 50ccs just because they dont have much power? Or is something wrong?

Leaking Suzuki TS 50 XK, need advice

I recently bought a used Suzuki TS 50 XK on Ebay. Even had to take it to the mechanic once to get the cylinder head gasket fixed. Now i just came back from a quick ride and saw drops coming down from the bike.
I'm pretty new to motorcycles and i really don't want to take it to a mechanic again. Is it something I need to worry about?

Old bike sat for almost a year, what to do before starting? (1983 SUZUKI GSX 400 F)

I drained the carb bowls before I “retired” it indefinitely almost 1 year ago.

I also only fill it up with ethanol free premium gas but it’s been sitting for 10 months so I for sure need to freshen it before starting I’m guessing?

Oil was relatively new at the time, maybe 100 kms.

I did order a new battery, the current one is lead acid and from 2021. Didn’t hook it up to a tender.

Anything I’m missing?

To clarify I’m not asking about things like checking tires etc. Strictly the running functionality of the engine/carb itself.

New center stand springs are too tight to fit pennies — what do?

I’m in the home stretch, but absolutely failing at installing the new stand. 😝

It looks like my only option without a jack is to remove springs, install stand, and reattach springs.

Only problem — I can’t get enough pennies in because the spring is too tight. Any and all sage advice is welcome! 🙏🏻

ACE 750 02 low speed wobble

So i own a honda shadow 750 ACE 02 and at 60 km/h on 2nd or 3rd gear i get these wobble and you can feel it in the handlebar but it goes away when i speed up and it doesn't really effect the ride but also when i get my hands of the handlebar the wobbling get even stronger. At first had low tire pressure and then i fix the tire pressure and yes the wobbling got less but the problem isn't completely fixed yet obviously so i hope if anyone can maybe give me an opinion on this matter.

Thank you

2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250 won't start without full throttle

I bought this bike two years ago, started right up and rode it without issue. My brother rode it and laid it down, been acting up since. Like taking a few tries to get started or running for a bit but dying as soon as you put it in gear.

It sat last season because I didn't have the time/money to mess with it but now I'm trying to get it running again. The carbs have been cleaned, fresh gas, oil change/filter, new battery and I'm going to grab new spark plugs tomorrow.

Yesterday the bike didn't want to start at all, I've tried it with the choke in different positions with no results. Now it'll start but only with the throttle engaged and it runs ROUGH.

Outside of switching out the spark plugs, I'm not sure where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1985 Honda vt700c bog on acceleration…sometimes

Oh wise mystics of the internet, guide me! Got an old carburetor bike that has been sent to hell and crawled its way back to our plane of existence.

Got it running nice, but now after a few months occasionally engine bogs on acceleration right around 3k, at first on bumps, but now more frequently. In the driveway I can rev at all ranges with no problem, only seems to be while riding. While I wait for my Seafoam to work its way through the fuel system, what else should I test to make sure this abomination doesn’t get me stranded on the side of a highway? Plugs/charge packs? Air filter?

For the winter I put ethanol free fuel and stabil in to try to prevent rubber parts from drying, and drove it to work every few weeks.

USB outlet selection and battery drain

I have this Trackside USB outlet that I got in a pinch several months ago while on a ride. My bike already had a battery tender plug so I used the charger as needed but never properly installed it after I returned home.

I am trading bikes tomorrow (2005 R1200GS → 2018 SV650) and figure I should install the outlet on the new machine.

Will it constantly drain my battery? Or should I instead get the Quad Lock version which has an on/off switch?

2007 VLX600 bogs with quick throttle.

Hello all,

I just finished a ground up build of a 2007 Honda VLX600 and finally got it running. This is my first motorcycle ever and would just like any recommendations for an issue in dealing with. When it starts, it idles fine (sometimes I hear an extra slight pop/skip in the exhaust) but when I rack the throttle quickly it bogs and I've even stalled it out like this before. If I slowly roll on it,I can get a decent rev out of it but there is a flame every now and then out the pipes. Below is a installed parts list that could be applicable to my issue. Thank you all in advance.

-Tj brutal customs single carb performance kit (I'll have to take a look when I get home for the main and pilot jet sizes)

  • velocity stack

-Tj brutal back draft exhaust

  • new wires and plugs, gapped to honda spec

-87 octane fuel

Spark, Fuel and Compression and bike won't start

Hello, I have a Yamaha xv 250 year 2000 and I'm having a problem with the starter, it just won't start.

The spark plugs are new, the compression is within that specified in the service manual and the fuel reaches the carburetor.

The fuel is going straight to the carburetor, not through the tap or the fuel pump.

The engine timing is correct (I've checked it dozens of times), I even checked the magneto to see if it had slipped, but it's in the right position.

If I put gasoline directly into the combustion chamber (through the spark plug hole), the bike starts and then shuts down, as if the fuel in the carburetor didn't reach the engine.

After unsuccessfully trying to start it, I removed the spark plug and it was damp in some tests and dry in others. That's why I suspect it's a problem with the fuel system.

The carburetor is new.

Considering that the compression gauge shows an acceptable level, I tend to rule out a lack of compression, but I can't think of anything else that could cause the fuel to have difficulty reaching the engine. Even though the carburetor is new, I've checked the plungers and they're not clogged or anything.

And, considering that the bike starts when I put gasoline directly into the combustion chamber, I rule out any other problem (starter motor, which is new, battery or other).

Is there a possibility that it's something I haven't taken into account in the points mentioned above?

Thank you.

2020 Harley Davidson Iron 883 Speed Sensor issue

Hello all,

I have a 2020 Iron 883 that's speed sensor is either damaged, broken or just bad and its throwing the lovely error code and making my bike run poorly along with the usual issues of turn signals not turning off in the turns and not logging miles etc etc.

My question is, where exactly is both ends of the speed sensor, how is it connected to the bike, and how easy is it to do in my drive way.
I'm by no means a master mechanic but also not afraid to get my hands dirty and fix it myself I just can't seem to find the other end of it, I've found the end that's part of my transmission but I can't seem to find the other end that goes to the ECU.

I've seen stuff online showing its under the seat which I know isn't true for my bike (I've looked all I have is the tail lights) and I've seen stuff saying its part of the transmission, and other stuff sayings its in the wiring near the ECU under the plastic.
I've tried to read the wiring diagram from Harley but its not the greatest thing in the world.

Does anyone know where the other end of it is?
Or if its only the plug that goes into the transmission with a wire that plugs into it from there?
Or is it something else completely and I'm just not finding anything.

I've seen pictures showing this -

But I've also seen images referencing this -

I've been debating trading this thing in for a touring style of bike but I can't very well do that with it not logging miles, or telling me how fast someone is going on

KX250 2002 Kawasaki Two Stroke

Hi All,

I bought this KX250 2002 Two Stroke Not Running

Sitting in storage with 2004 Tires for bought for $2,000.

I admit I was rather impulsive in buying this dirtbike, thinking it could be worth a lot more. Can anyone who knows about dirtbikes or Kawasaki KX250 tell me more about my purchase of the dirtbike. I am not sure if I got a good deal or if perhaps I should have not made this purchase. I assume that it needs carb rejetting, carb cleaning, and refueling in order to get it running. I hope that it does not need a top end rebuild like some other people have said. This is a 2002 Kawasaki KX250 and it looks like it has low hours and miles put on it. It has the original green paint on the frame and the swingarms look like they have little scratches on them. The triple tree and clamp are aftermarket and there is a renthal handlbar on the top. A little rust on the expansion chamber in the front of the exhaust. Plastics are green and white and clean.

I bought it because I would like to get into the two stroke world and be more proficient and competent in how two stroke motorcycle engines work and run.

I hope that this is a suitable dirtbike for me if it turns out to run. If not then I hope that I can sell it to someone who can use and appreciate this dirtbike.

Located in Los Angeles, CA.

Wheel disassembly from gear shaft

Any idea on how to disassemble the wheel from the gear shaft _ this is a roller for a heavy swing gate and the treads on the wheel are completely wiped clean - so I either need to re-tread the wheel or get a new wheel - hence the disassembly question.

Honda NX 500 2024

I own for the past week a new nx 500. I notice a mettalic rattle from the tank while driving at low rpm or when shifting the moment i pull and release the clutch. I can also hear it when low rev it on straight position, if i lean it left on single stand, the rattle is disappearing or it just happening for a moment. I am pretty sure it's somewhere from the tank. I'll go next week to check the bike under warranty to the dealership. I am assuming a faulty fuel pump floater or something under the tank. Any other idea or suggestion? Have any1 experienced something similar? I ensured everything is tight on tank and plastics. I also wanna check tomorrow what will happen if i full the tank.

2023 Hawk 250 DLX stops accelerating

"obligatory long time lurker, first time poster"

I haven't swapped out the sprockets yet, so all of that is still stock. Actually, most everything is still stock. Anyway, yesterday, I'm riding home from work, cruising at 55mph, and it just stops accelerating. It's like I just let go of the throttle and/or put it in neutral. I downshift and upshift, and then it lets me go for a few more minutes, then repeat. I pulled over and turned the bike off and on, and that gave me the last 15 minutes to get home. What kinds of things would cause this? What would make it just.... stop? It didn't stall out or anything, just "nope, no more forward momentum coming from this engine" on me.

I won't be able to explore any of the options yet as I've flown to a remote office for work, but want to gather things to look at for this weekend when I get back home.
