How much weight can you shave off of a gen 1 busa?

Heavy bike and I’m curious if anyone has data on the amount of weight you can remove.

Best fuel for Gen 1?

So I got ahold of 1300cc Gen 1 (2003 or K3 to be exact) and I’ve been running premium at the pumps. But I still have no plate.. I spent good amount of money on gear, ~$3k and it’s the end of the season and I don’t feel like paying $300 for an endorsement at the moment. I don’t take it out much but when I do, and I know there will be more than some people who find this a bad way of going about it, I keep in mind that I may get pulled over or have a cop pull up when I am fueling. Then I’m screwed. So it’s usually in the back of my mind that I will potentially have to run when I take it out.

BUT, my curiosity has led me to wonder if there is a good fuel that I can buy in a can from a store from somewhere? Like VP or TruFuel how they have 2 cycle and straight gas for blowers, mowers, etc. I am more worried about ethanol levels than oxygen levels, and I know these cans of fuel are premixed to spec. At least my tools love them, and wondering if it’s worth testing in the Busa. Thank you for any info if this is a decent route for time being. Like I said I don’t take it out much, and probably only have a few more weeks left anyways, but don’t want to risk losing it over topping it off.

Kacamangus Highway New Hampshire

My longest one day ride so far, 427 miles. My intention was to stay the night up there but there were no vacancies. And by time I found one, the ride was half over. So I just man up and rode the whole way lol.

Easy to use saddle bags

Hey all - anyone have recommendations for saddle bags that are easy to add and remove on my Hayabusa? I have corbin seats and the rear seat has a back rest.

Sometimes i like to ride without any back seat, and i definitely don't like the look of saddle bags - so i really want something i can easily attach/detach without having to leave anything permanent on the bike.

Thanks!

Headlight Bulb

Hi All. I got myself a 2016 Busa ABS a month ago, a big jump from TDM900! 🙈 Having lots of fun with the teleporter! 😂 Recently, I went for a night-time spin and tried the high beam, found it was shite! 🙈 I barely could see anything beyond few meters and it was scary to open her up on unlit roads! I want to change the bulb to LED or whichever is the most powerful and brightest... has anyone upgraded the headlight? Which ones is recommended?

Is gen3 really that much better than gen2?

Yearly bonus payment, pay rise and birthday are about to coincide soon so i am dangerously close to (finally) getting a ‘Busa after over a decade of dreaming.

Bike is mainly for weekend rides on a local twisty roads, occasional commutes, some highway rides and maybe mild touring here and there. So nothing extreme.

Choosing between 2019-2020 Gen2 or 2021-2023 Gen3. Obviously going to test ride both, but afraid that would not be able to fully understand the difference during short test ride - particularly subtleties of newer electronic features of gen3.

Looks wise i madly in love with Gen2, i think it is the most beautiful bike ever produced. Not quite sure i like Gen3 as much. I understand it tries to look more modern, but it just almost does not look like Hayabusa anymore. Particularly if you look from behind - just bland and generic. Love that fat round ass of Gen2.

Do not really care about power difference - unlikely i’ll be able to fully use power of either of them.

The electronics, LED lights, better brakes and suspension of gen3 however do sound really attractive.

So in short:

Gen2: like design, can get it much cheaper. 2020 model in red looks stunning. Slight concern is that it is almost impossible to get second hand Gen2 with original exhaust (but hope i can source an original exhausts and put them back).

Gen3: Better suspension/electronics/brakes? Much more expensive. Not as pretty as gen2 (and colours of gen3 in 21/22/23 are drab and boring).

So for those who rode both extensively - is Gen3 is really THAT much better than Gen2? Specifically electronics, suspension, LED lights, brakes? Are those new features really noticeable during normal daily rides?

Pt 2 on getting busa as first

Prev post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Hayabusa/s/6hwGarZi9b

About the balance. Will i even maintain it? With the speed, ofc it'll be okay, but what about the start?

I put the kickstand away, sit on it, wont it fall back into any side?

Forgot to add. Im 178cm (5'10)

Thats actually the reason i NEVER learned to drive a bicycle (and i absolutely dont want to. Is it that neccesary?)

I know I'll get taught all this in the school, but im hella curious to know all this from some more experienced people early

What is abs? And nanny devices..

Suzuki finally overhauling engine for Gen 4 Busa? What is your wish list for Gen 4?

Knowing Suzuki, they would just want to ride their glory into the sun set. But I am hoping they'd put serious resources into making Busa lighter, more powerful and with even more electronics and assists.

Design wise I think Gen 3 look the best. They should keep the design maybe take inspiration from TTS superbusa team and add a single sided swingarm, may be made tail a bit thinner because it looks the 190 section tire small. Only busa can do that.

What is your opinion and wishlist for Gen 4?

Should I get 1st or 2nd gen?

I've been dreaming about owning a Hayabusa since I was a kid. Few years ago I was buying my first motorcycle and I wanted to be something with more forgiving power distribution, so I went for Ninja 500r. I've made over 5,000 miles on it in the past few years and I'm ready for an upgrade. I'm also 32 years old now, and much more mellow comparing to my 20s, so that helps too. I have made a bunch of research on Hayabusa but still had few questions:

  • I'm able to afford newer Gen 1 or older Gen2 (I'm paying cash for it). Is there a drastic difference in handling/comfort/reliability between the two? Reliability is my main concern, and from what I was able to find out, they're all mostly bulletproof (I'm not interested in any mods, will try to buy as stock as it gets). Is there something I should be looking out particularly?
  • I'm mostly using my bike to commute. I live in Chicago and work downtown and commute on my Ninja most of the week (mostly lane splitting in heavy highway traffic), and occasionally I'll ride to various places in the suburbs. I'd imagine busa is a complete overkill for this type of riding, but is it doable? From what I've read it is, but wanted to hear some firsthand opinions. I'm 6'-3" so I don't mind that it's a bigger bike, frankly my Ninja always felt a little small but I still enjoy it
