Yamaha yzf600r thundercat

Since I'm not a welder I did my best with welding on a massive hole in the center of the tank and since my soldering iron isn't worth a pile of dog sh*t I made do with what I had. Fuel cell repair and patch. welded what I could and where there was holes jb weld had to do, the large patch is the welded spot and the rest is pinholes luckily, and yes I'm to broke and cheap to spend 300 on a new tank still got to treat the inside but wouldn't have done good to do that with holes in it

Is a 2021 big boy a good first project bike?

So I've been wanting to work on project bike for dome I've now and I'm finally at a place in life where I can. I wanna start with a 2021 big boy velocity 150cc. It's a commuter and quite affordable and second hand in my county. I'm thinking of turning into a scrambler or cafe racer (depending on what's cheaper parts wise) any advice?

Looking for exhaust fir my 1984 honda magna 750

Hey guys, I'm new to motorcycles and just picked up a 1984 honda magna last season. I've rode it and im not a big fan of how quiet it is, does anyone know if there are any aftermarket options or something that will fit onto it? I believe it's a 4-2

After a 2 week carb rebuild

Super high idle Im aware the fuel mixture is to lean not sure how to tune myself apart from what few things I've read not gonna do it myself lol but here it is and any advice is appreciated I'm having to hold the throttle all the way in to idle just this low so throttle does need adjustment as well but figured I'd share

Question for electricity masters. CDI. DIY-ing one. Does stock Yamaha short it's negative part of wave or use it in full bridge rectifier? (Bike I'm working on is Yamaha XT600)

I've been exploring DIY CDI's and I've found this design on this website. There is a note in the website that the negative wave is intentionally shorted. I asked why and I didn't get a reply except only a hint it might be related to higher RPMs. But it shouldn't matter, ~8k RPM isn't that high for it to not work. This was designed for a Yamaha XT600, but all XT have almost identical designs for CDI.

Mine is still refusing to start, no idea why :/ I have to kick it 50 times with my DIY CDI and maybe it starts/farts and stops running. Same thing with start spray. Cleaned carb fully. No idea :// I replaced ignition coil too. I haven't done valve timings yet as it allegedly was fully rebuilt and even new sleeve when I bought. But this is unverified, I bought from friend of friend and I kinda trusted blindly, I do worry that I was probably scammed. I paid $1300 for a non runner XT600 from 1984. Even have to fix lights as that doesn't work.. First bike.

Thank you people, much appreciated <3

What am I dealing with here?

Hey sub. I have zero motorcycle knowledge and basic car knowledge. Been looking for a project car, but I have this bike I could work on for free. I’m renting a house from my brother in law and this bike is under the shed. he says this bike has sat since 09. He says he doesn’t know what’s wrong with it, he bought it as is and tried tinkering with it in 2012 and life got in the way. What am I get to beg into here? I can tell from a quick google search it’s a Yamaha v star. But that’s about it. I have no idea where to start. Or how to get it running. Or if it’s even worth my time. And tips from you guys would be much appreciated. I have more pics and can try to attach them in the comments. Thanks in advance.

It runs!

New starter came in, and I found out the starter spray is gone.. 😒 so i gotta a buddy to give me a push start. But it fired right up, and runs beautifully. Waiting on a few other parts to come in, to continue the build, but now have the confidence to continue.

Uh oh, shit got real

Pulled the engine and started stripping paint off of the frame. The last fucker to own this welded the exhaust to the frame so I had to cut that off to pull the motor out. No big deal but like cmon brah 1977 Kawasaki kz400

Is buying a 70/80s bike that I can repair a good idea for transportation and money to sell in case?

21(m), apart from the fact I like being hands on and working on things. Engineering etc. I want to try this hobby because it captivated me and who doesn’t want a hot rod but I ask these two question because I also could use it as a skill in a way.

Advice: 09 R6 Throttle Choking

I just bought this 09 R6 and the ONLY thing I didn't validate was the cold start. Everything else felt solid and looked solid. But when I cold started it to get it off the trailer, I tried to give it the smallest amount of throttle and it died..

Context: The bike has been sitting basically all year owner hadn't rode it much the last 2 years. I just filled the gas before I got home so I know it's not gas. When the bike warms up, it has absolutely no problem giving throttle and rides seemingly fine. The battery IS completely dead, but my jump box was hooked up to it when this happened

Update: I put the new battery from my other bike in it and the bike no longer dies when giving it throttle, but it's very inconsistent and almost seems like it's choking. l'm getting anxious trying to get to the bottom of this.

I've tried to take a couple of videos but I can't attach them here so l've uploaded them to YouTube and attached the links below.

If anyone has any idea what this could be please please let me know. l'm working on checking the; air filter and spark plugs now.

4 second clip of when it died: https://youtube.com/shorts/ASmuKzJfNlw?si= SrGOPS_gQLZ27N85

48 second clip of it not dying but choking on throttle: https://youtube.com/shorts/WyADF4s3rKU?si= G1TB6aeZdFRXif-v ama

1974 Honda XL100 battery help.

Reconnected the wire harness then connected the battery and it started making a faint fizzling sound so I unplugged it obviously and no, it's not the original battery. I only see people talking about this sound while charging as electrolyte gas escaping but no mention of it being normally connected and doing that. I did just charge it on a 2 amp trickle charge and I'm getting 12 amps on my multimeter which is correct. Anyone else experience this?
