Anyone know where this is from?
Bike has 53k miles. Basically when on the gas hard in first at high rpm its difficult to get it into 2nd gear smoothly. Sometimes it won't make it and end up in neutral other times its will grind into 2nd. When shifting into 2nd with low throttle/rpm its no issue.
I've read that this is a common issue on these old r1/fz1 bikes and is a result of bent shift forks.
Is there a trick for shifting into 2nd when gassing it hard? Sucks not being able to redline it in first and reliably shift to 2nd.
2003 fz1 Just motor swapped but Having issue. 1, neutral light doesint come on so it has to have clutch pulled in and kickstand up to start( neutral switch think) but When you go to put the bike in gear it stalls out and dies. also i think i know what i need to do but does anyone know if there’s a common think for cyl 3 to misfire? or what the issue is, spark plugs were good. connection is good. idek what it could be
The shift light should have been mandatory on these models lol
Hello guys!
I have a problem, when I ride at city speeds (in second gear at around 50-55 km/h, with a stable 4000 RPM), the engine gives a pulsing feeling, as if I were momentarily letting off the throttle. It could even be described as jerking. The bike responds well to throttle input, accelerates well, and everything else seems fine, but I can’t figure out what the issue might be. I simply have no idea what’s causing it. By the way, the engine was manufactured in 2007. The bike is completely stock, except for an Akrapovic exhaust and the exup valve is disabled.
I’ve read through many forums, and quite a few people have a similar problem, but I haven’t found a solution. Could a fuel cut eliminator help?
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Does anyone have a suggestion for a solution? This issue is simply annoying.
-New chain and sprockets are installed -New tires are installed, and the wheels are balanced -Valve clearances are set to factory specifications -Timing chain is also in perfect condition
I recently bought a 2007 Fz-1 from a guy who said all it needed was a battery. The seller said he had replaced the stator and everything was good to go. After riding for a day or two with a new battery the bike died on me in traffic. I figured the issue was the regulator not converting the power so I ended up purchasing a new one and replacing it. I should note that when I took the old regulator out it looked relatively new. Now, after a few days of sitting, the bike wont start again. Any recommendations as to what is causing this problem? Any help is appreciated.
I’ve got a 2nd gen that I really want to put bags on. I can’t seem to find racks anywhere. I wouldn’t be against fabricating something if I had to
Hello, an amateur wrencher here and wanted to get some input on my diagnosis before moving forward with working on the fix.
Picked up an '01 project a few weeks ago that needs a lot of love, just going through some maintenance stuff right now test riding and moving on to the next to do item. Usually it starts up okay, but a week ago and today (for the second time) it did not start.
I popped the key in turned it to on, lights turned on (killswitch was still engaged) i heard a clicking that seemed to weaken and die out. When I deactivated the killswitch and hit the ignition switch - nothing is turning over, no sounds, and nothing happens.
Last time this happened I jumped the bike across the starter relay and rode it around, the problem solved itself and was starting up normally again.
I have fuel in tank, checked battery after no start - read 12.7V, kickstand is up, stator/rectifier work and charges the battery when riding.
Please correct me if what I'm saying is incorrect...
The clicking is the fuel pump, could be a bad fuel pump
Could be the starter relay/solenoid itself
I'm not certain where I go from here or how to check the fuel pump/starter relay or what other things it could be.
Thanks for the input!
Battery was changed 3 month ago Getting 12 volts white off or on When I start makes this noice when clicking starter
I think I get it manualy by running running and letting the clutch go
Any advice Its a 2002 fz1
My friend said it's normal on liter bikes but I was wondering if it really is for FZ1s. Mines a 2003 and the temp warning light comes on after sitting at a signal for 30-60 seconds depending on how hot it is that day. Haven't spent any time checking coolant or anything but I will if it's not expected behavior
I noticed some of the steel brackets that holds the front right fairing are bent, any DIY solution to unbending/straight-out these brackets? Was thinking in using a hammer on a flat surface but are there any other methods?
Fortunately the bike was mechanically good after the incident (old road, new rear brake oil and I forgot about that for a moment, bike slided when braking before a corner), had to change the pegs, mirror and turn signal light and the bike was rideable again after I recovered from the injuries. But I got very lazy to also fix the cosmetic things on the damaged fairings, 6 months later I want to also try to make the bike prettier again.
Also would be interested on how to get the correct paint color for the fairing repair (FZ1S 2006 40th Year Yamaha Aniversary Blue Edition)
Hey anyone know if this is the color code or the serie number of the motorcycle? If its the serie number do u know where can i find the color code?
I just got a FZ1 yesterday and the bike is in (almost perfect condition). When the bike is cold I can rev the engine just fine and have no issues. When the bike has warmed up to regular temp, I try to rev the bike and it dies immediately. From 1st gear it shutters a tiny bit too when warmed up. I just got this bike and know nothing yet of how it works and how Yamahas are as a whole. Can anyone help me find a solution to this?
I just bought a 2014 fz1. I have the manual but I can't find what type of coolant I need to buy. What should I buy, I'm at the low line on the coolant reservoir.
I just got an 02 53k miles, K&N filter, yoshi rs3 slip on, "properly jetted tuned carbs" according to the ad.
Below 4/4.5k rpm, particularly in 1st gear its stuttering / surging / and just running rough and weak with weird vibrations happening that can be felt through the handlebars. Once it gets above that rpm range, it becomes smooth and the power kicks on all of the sudden.
What could be the issue here? Coils? Battery? Spark plugs?
My rotor exploded like usual for this bike and I’m cleaning the bottom of the engine and oil pan I ordered a gasket but this little star looking bit came with and I’m not sure where it goes.
I have an 01 with 50k miles on it. Ive owned it since 28k miles. Unsure if the fork seals have ever been done. Got an appointment with a place to tear down both front forks and replace seals and bushings and put in new oil. $625 for both. Unsure if I am being taken for labor time, but at this point owning the bike for so long with no issues besides regular maintenance I dont really care. Wonderful bike and happy to keep it on the road.
Fun that I noticed when front braking was less than usual as it leaked right onto the caliper.
Anyone else have other long term bigger jobs they have had done?
Had my 02 for all of 3 days and already got pulled over for 101mph in a 55 when overtaking a car. Holy FUCK this bike is so powerful and fun. Couldn't imagine having a cooler motorcycle. WOOHOO!!!
Every now and then the red oil light turns on. It used to come on when I'm in higher 100'skmph And now sometimes, momentarily, turns on while it's idling. I've checked oil level and it's topped up. Is this a sign of a failing oil pump? Bike has 54k.
I ordered the gadget and was gonna check once it came but I got unlucky and it blew right before it came. Bikes got 31k miles and I think there’s magnets in my engine now any advice? I’m thinking of taking the exhaust off and the oil pan and trying to flush it with oil and do my best to get all bits out but any help will be appreciated
My 2006 fz1 is set up the same way Ivan did when he made the Ivan’s Eve flash, it has a full system yoshimaru and is tuned with the dyno jet. I just added the healtech quickshifter and I’m curious if this could cause any damage,( my rotor blew right after I installed the quickshifter lol) I believe my engine is ok and I caught it pretty quickly but it’s gonna take awhile to take the oil pan off and clean the debry of metal before replacing the rotor and stator and anything else that might have broken
I have a 2008 fz1 with about 85k kms on it. Located on Alberta. I have givi side cases (not pictured) and rear top case along with tank bag. I still have original windshield and seat. I'm thinking $4700 to $5000 would be good selling price. Any and all suggestions welcome.
