I found a good deal on a 2023 wr450f. I’m looking for an enduro/trail bike that will only be on the road for short transfers.
I was originally going with a Ktm 350 exc-f but I prefer the reliability of Japanese brands.
How do the two compare and is the Yamaha good for my intended purposes?

How do I register a 1975 Honda CB550 in CA with just a bill of sale? It’s never been street legal, no pink slip.
I’ve been riding my 1985 Honda Elite 150 down forest roads and want to level up a bike that’s made foe that, but feeling like I want to baby step it up as a new rider. Thoughts on this 1986 Honda TLR 200 Reflex? Is 200 just too small (barely a jump from 150)? They’re asking $2600.
Hey guys! I’m trying to put together a large dual sport trip with my dad and his buddies. Trying to explore as much of the UP as we can by trail. They would all be in side by sides unfortunately, I’d be the only one on a moto. Are there any recommendations for large routes the side by sides could go on legally? I know the side by side thing is kind of lame, but they’re old and getting out there haha
I'm looking to buy a used DR650 and found what looks like is a good one on Facebook Marketplace. This will be my first bike, so any advice from seasoned riders would be incredibly helpful! Is the age of the bike and the miles worth the price? Details are below:
2002 Suzuki dr
$3,000 OBO
Driven 9,800 miles
"2002 Suzuki dr 650cc enduro, it is road legal and highway capable. has new exhaust, recent oil change, tires with good life, runs and drives great. Recently wrapped it black but underneath is still oem blue as shown in pictures."
With what GPS system do you guys navigate through your adventures?
Rode a solo, mostly off-road 172-mile round trip adventure from Yermo to Johannesburg, fueled up, and took a different route back to my truck. I stopped to take a bunch of pictures along the way, and the trip took nearly 9 hours. I pre-mapped the route on my Garmin and was pretty successful sticking to it! Some great solitude out there and the California desert was beautiful, as always. Good times. Ride on!
Staged at world famous Eddie World!
Original location of the very first Del Taco
The white snow cap far in the distance is the very southern tip of the Sierra Nevada mountains
I love this perspective. I can chase the end of a road like this all day!
hey guys, i just bought an used KLX 230 like six months ago. i was watching adam riemann about the air filer cleaning and oiling. now i'm wondering about cleaning it, the problem is, in my country no one sells air filter oil like he shown in the video. so what's the best alternatives for this?
has anyone driven a kove450 on the road? am looking a t7 so i can do commuting and double track comfortably and the kove looks like it could be an option for that
Not sure if anyone else saw this but I'm stoked!
I’m heading off tomorrow for a small end of the year route, on-road and off-road around Spain and the south of Portugal. Any recommendations on places to visit are more than welcome, as it will be my first time on bike in Portugal.
So far I have:
Spent so much wasted time trying to mod the small bike into a tourer or mod the big bike into a dirt bike
2 bikes is really the end game
No compromises
I have a 2006 KLX 250s that I am looking to get new tires for. I have been riding on the road more so than offroad. So, I was thinking 60/40 tires.
What would you guys recommend? I started down the rabbithole searching for recommendations and am now spinning my tires. :)
My tires that are on it now are:
Front - 3.00-21 and Back - 4.10-18
Which looks like it equates to:
Front Tire 80/100 R21
Rear Tire 100/100 R18
I had been thinking Shinko 705s as I have read good things and they are more road oriented than trail. But, they don't seem to come in the correct size for my bike.
Then, I was thinking Shinko 700s, but it looks like they only have a front tire that fits.
Thanks for the help!
My approach to dual sport is 95% dirt and 5% pavement to get to or connect trails.
Man oh man has this been one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make in a long time. I know there are tons of forums but I think I’ve done pretty solid work off grabbing the wide boots people suggest and placing them in here.
Hello, I am new to dual sport riding. I own an xr650l. I’m having a HUGE PROBLEM finding boots for me. I currently live in an urban environment with little to no trails within 40 minutes of riding. I use the motorcycle to commute to the gym and for basic tasks. Still learning so not to off road heavy YET.
I wear a 9.5 EE - 10.5 E
I’m looking for a street / off-road boot that will work better for me for true dual sporting but maybe like an 80/20. I don’t want a ton of boots just one boot for right now that I can use for all purposes kind of thing. I’ll bring spare shoes with me so really this is mainly for protection, support, water proofing, and multi purpose functions and a boot I can use to get better at off road riding.
I have been looking at A* tech 7 & A* Toucan, Gaerne SG-10,12,22, Sidi cross fire TA, Forma Adventure, Icon Elsinore, Fox Insticts, Leat 5.5s, Daytona(not really my style) and one more that starts with an A and a couple more I can’t think of off the top of my head.
The problem I keep seeing is the A* tech 7’s are well rounded but big for shifting, forma adventures are not good for aggressive pegs and I stand up a lot so I don’t want to fall off and die, Gaerne is expensive but I have heard they’re my better option. Sidi’s are expensive but I fear, after I buy them, they’ll be too narrow. Leat 5.5s don’t offer the best ankle protection which is really what I’m aiming for.
Keep my foot from being crushed and my ankle from splitting in half on or off road.
I workout a lot. I have pretty big calves. I used to be in the military, I don’t really care how heavy boots are, I just want comfortable boots I can walk into a McDonald’s with and ride home in after being out all day in the mud or on the street.
Please save me, you’re my only hope.
I simply want good ankle and foot protection, boots I can learn to ride in (I’m okay with awkward riding with new boots at first I’ll learn), and a boot I can do essentially most if not everything in. Something comfy for wide feet with a good tread that grips well on most surfaces.
To start it off I have T7 that is to heavy for my riding style. I own a KTM 300 for actual single track. I watch all these people that can perform log hopes and aggressive riding on the T7. I find that this thing is to top heavy and I struggle big time picking this thing up if I drop it, that’s makes me limit my riding style and push this thing. I like the enduro 690 but it’s tall for 5,7 stature. I see that ktm is coming out with a 390 adventure R with 45hp. They say it’s on a smaller platform. How is this bike going to perform for ripping dirt roads and blasting trails. I want a street able platform with a smaller stature, but 45hp seems kinda low.. does anyone else have this dilemma.. if so what bike did you choose. Unicorns are hard to find. I wouldn’t mind building a perfect platform.
