is my electrical system messed up?

Hey everyone!
I'm about to pull the trigger on an SV650 and trying to decide whether to go for the ABS model or stick with the non-ABS. I know that ABS can be a huge safety benefit, especially in tricky conditions, but I’d like to hear from those with experience on both versions.
For those who own or have ridden both, is the ABS really worth it? How does it feel on the SV650 in particular, and does it make a noticeable difference in everyday riding? I'm curious if anyone's found it helpful in unexpected situations, or if you feel it’s just not necessary.
Thanks in advance for the advice!
Hello, I got my SV650SA 2008 with 36.2k km (22.4k miles) earlier this year and done full service of all fluids and filters.
I made big mistake of not checking oil levels since then roughly between 2500-3000 kilometers (1553 - 1864 miles).
Just topped up 700ml (622 grams) of ipone 10w40 katana (full syntethic) which is also what was used on service couple months back.
I usually ride in higher RPM's for sure over 7k+
Main questions:
TLDR: didn't top up oil for 2.5-3tkm and just ended up pouring 700ml of ipone 10w40 full syntethic.
Posted before but photos average. About to remove windshield. Keen to change the headlight to a led any recommendations?
What windshield recommendations would you guys make for a 2nd gen sv650. I’m 6’2 and not opposed to big windshields. I want something that will make highway miles easier.
Can anybody give me advice on swapping my S to N? I have gsxr 750 front forks and all of the bar conversion kits online are either for the gsxr 750 specifically or the sv650S specifically. I know I’ll need a triple clamp with risers and of course new brake lines and throttle cables but I can’t find any information on what exact ones I would need
I ride a 01 sv650, my bike seems to be getting really hot, I can feel it in my seat and the sides of my frame are to hot to even keep my hand on it. Is this normal?
Looking to pull my battery and put it in the house and charge it once a month over the winter. Questions - do you use a trickle charger? Can I just trickle charge it IN the bike - i.e. just leave the battery in. The reason I ask is when I look at the battery, it's a bit more complicated to remove than my old bike. Does #2 just lift off? (on the bike it looks like I have to remove a ton of screws to get to the battery). Any tips are suggestions are appreciated.
Been wanting one of these for a while now and deals kept falling through and I didn't want to eat in debt to buy a new one. Was finally able to snag this guy in a trade plus cash deal for my Grom, and I'm loving it so far.
It needs tires and an exhaust, recommendations would be appreciated!
hello, i’ve noticed a small leak, seemingly from the thermostat housing. it only occurs when the motorcycle is parked (sv650 gen 1). it doesn’t affect the radiator coolant level, only the catch tank. Has anyone had this issue?
Hi All,
I attempted to jump my SV today bc it looked like the battery was dying. After giving it a few minutes on the cables, I turned the key and saw that the dash was empty, along with the backlight, neutral light, and fuel injector light being on. I disable the killswitch, and notice that I do not hear the fuel pump. I tried hitting the starter after that, and I started to hear clicking noises, along with the dash flashing in and out. Kickstand is off and bike is in neutral.
Can anyone please give me a clue on where to start looking to identify the issue? Thank you!
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to add lower fairings to my 2008 SV650S. For budget reasons, I'm going with these cheap, knock off lower fairings I found off of AliExpress.

Does anyone have any advice for the installation process? It doesn't come with the necessary mounting screws, brackets, etc. so I was wondering how would someone would go about this? I'm new to riding and this is my first bike; any help is greatly appreciated! Below are some pics of my bike for reference.
I ride a 01 sv650, I’ve noticed my bike smelling like gas more than usual. i need to get my carb serviced for sure (idles like shit when cold). That’s the only idea I got that could be causing the smell. I’m also going to change my air filter soon. Occasionally I rev my bike really high for shits and giggles, dunno if that could’ve fked something up, it’s an old bike, 25k miles.
put led rear flashers. now we got the fast blinkies.. what relay you guys using if you swapped to led signals? assuming its the same across the gens.... thx
Hello, fellow SV riders!
Just took my first second-hand motorcycle Sv650 '05. Accordingly VIN it was made '04 but first registration made '05 (where all the fun begins). So the issue that it was laid down on one side: slightly brushed muffler, cracked headlamp cover (little things). Don't know if the crash was heavier (doesn't look like) but the whole speedometer was replaced. Sooooo, speedometer shows 2x less speed than it actualy is while riding, fuel pump gauge constantly flashes (fuel tank full). I have changed the rotor-magnet to 34983-21E00 but it didn't help. I see in the catalogues that '05 model has 34983-27G00. I have read somewhere that "newer" models has 8 magnets on the rotor, the older models - 4, that would explain why my speedo shows 2x less speed. Inside fuel pump '05 model has 15170-16G00 thermistor, while '04 model has 15170-35F10 thermistor. Would that explain fuel gauge error constantly blinking? Thermistors are different, do they send different signal to speedometer?
Help me guys understand how to solve these issues. Should I try to install '04 model rotor? Or replace whose sensor? Are fuel pumps replacable between k4-k5 models? Or it would be easier to install '04 year's speedometer? Would odometer numbers stay?
I know there’s an issue with the clutch being loud but this sound is more metallic and like clicking and does not go away when I pull the clutch in
Hey guys, just picked up a 2009 sv650s this weekend after a long stink of not riding. Was wondering if anyone knows where to find a helibar for it? I would go to the renthal bar route on my research but I kind of want just some extra height on my clip ons since im getting old.
Hello, I noticed when I suddenly apply throttle to my bike it bogs( I don't know if that's the correct term). but when I apply sudden throttle the engine loses power or dies. What could be the main cause of these?
Very quiet on video, low frequency knocking noise coming from the rear cylinder (I think). Might have to hold your phone up to your ear to hear it. I dropped my bike yesterday from a standstill — relatively gracefully. Oil on some tubes, looked like it came out of the airbox breather tube. Turned it off and changed the oil today. Started it up and hear this noise that I don’t believe i’ve heard before coming from the rear cylinder. Any idea what this is? Every “knock” video I’ve seen sounds different. Doesn’t seem to happen when revving but my exhaust might be too loud to hear it,
