Anybody know what this u shaped part of a shock is called? I'm looking for screw in ones for my CB750K so I can use a newer style universal rear shock. All the shocks I've seen that are universal use an eyelet on each end but my bike has the u shaped part.
I bought this 1981 CB750 K(Z) a few months back and I’ve noticed that the seat, the exhaust, and the rear brake are different than the standard version of the bike.
The seat reads „Giuliano“ (or similar) under the Honda tag. I‘ve seen 1-2 other CB750s with that seat online but I couldn’t find any further information.
The exhaust is a 4-1 exhaust without any brand name. I think it could very well be self-made by the previous owner to give the bike a 750F/super sport feel.
The rear brake too is a bit odd to me as the bike (from what I could find online) initially came equipped with a drum brake. Mine on the other hand has a very well installed disk brake… this once again could have been DIY‘d by the previous owner to make it look like a 750F though.
Does anyone know if this is something "special" or if the previous owner just bought an aftermarket seat and changed the exhaust and brake?
Thanks for your help!
I’ll start by saying I’m learning as I work on this bike. I’m by no means a mechanic. I spent all of last weekend working on my bike. I rebuilt the carbs, replaced my clutch rod oil seal, adjusted cam chain tension, did a valve adjustment, replaced the ignition condenser, spark plug boots and points, I advanced timing, and cleaned out my oil filter in that order. I did a lap around the block and had no problems. I noticed a small oil leak but nothing major.
Yesterday, I rode 6.6 miles around town. I stopped at a park and noticed my head gasket was pouring oil (almost all of the oil in the bike was leaking out onto the fine, down the stator cover and onto the ground). I immediately rode home.
I’ve got a full gasket kit so I can replace the head gasket right now; I just want to know if there’s anything in particular that could be the culprit, or if the gasket just so happened to fail at that point. I don’t really believe in coincidence, but I don’t want to chase ghosts either.
Hey guys!
New poster here.
Last week I did a test ride with the standard 2025 Honda CB1000 Hornet.
Figured I'd make a video on Youtube about it since it's quite the topic.
At first I wasn't too sure about this bike because of the comments on the "bland look" and lack of grunt down low. But I have to say, I was (and still am) really impressed.
I even went and ordered the SP version!
If anyone here is having any doubts, please go check it out. The value you get for your money is amazing.
I should have it around june this year. Looking forward to posting here once I get it!
Ride safe and take care everyone. :)
So I got a 95 nighthawk 750 that I finally got to ride today after a week of waiting for plates and I had a blast for 10 minutes. Now here’s the mistake. I noticed a weird smell while riding but I chopped it up to it being an air cooled engine. This is my first legit bike so I don’t know much. When I got home I checked the oil. I wiped the dipstick and it had residual oil but after inserting it again, nothing. As a matter of fact it kinda started to smoke from the dip stick when I stuck it in, but no visible smoke coming from the oil hole (don’t know what it’s called, crankcase?).
I was so excited to buy this bike and it looks like it’s in immaculate condition but this really took a piss on my bonfire. I’m worried about how much damage the engine received and if I’m looking at a rebuild or a loss. Anyone here have any experience with anything like this? I am calling a mobile mechanic tomorrow so he can tell me how screwed I am but just want to hear some opinions or maybe some words of comfort. It is a Honda right???

Post: Hey everyone,
I found an SW-Motech engine fairing listed for the 2021 Honda CB1000R, and from what I can tell, it looks identical in size, width, and height to my 2018 CB1000R. I reached out to SW-Motech customer service, and they said it wouldn’t fit the 2018 model, but I’m wondering if that’s just due to minor differences in mounting points or brackets.
I’ve attached a couple of pictures for reference.
Do you guys think it’s worth modifying, or would I be better off skipping it ?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s done a similar swap or has knowledge about the differences between these two model years. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

For context, subject is my daily 550 and currently running velocity stacks, but want to run pods just out of curiosity. Already running larger jets.
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can explain these circular leaks under my bike?!? Directly under the three puke hoses but they’re dry?
The leak also seems to occur only during the day not overnight.
Not sure what to think.
Wanted to make a cafe racer but didn’t have any connections for making the frame so only changed seats handles and lights.
took off right case to find this, Let me know
Hi, I'm new with CB400SFs (Currently riding VTEC 2 Model), I wanna ask regarding how much of a difference does it make for dropping 2 teeths off original sprocket size? Will it really lug the move off speeds badly or will it be find? Original sizes are 15T front 44T rear. Planning to swap rear 42T for better top end. Currently: 90km/h RPM 6k range. Goals: 110km/h RPM 5.5k range. Anyone have tried it before? Im just afraid it will really lug down the move off speed. Im ok with a slight drop but if i have to move off at 5k RPM then its pass 🤣 If it doesnt affect much, I might even drop to 39T
I’ll make this short since I’m at work: 82 cb 650 ran great, started to have carburetor issues and started to not want to rev very much. Bike slowly died over time and started smoking from the cylinder head. How fucked am I? There wasn’t very much oil in it at the time. The bike now cranks but doesn’t start. Any help appreciated.
Bought this 74 for $400, Thought it would be fun. I work on my truck and family’s cars all the time. I would consider myself a decent grease monkey. Finally got it running. But once i go to engage the clutch it has an awful noise. And the kick start doesn’t spring back. But i’m assuming it’s just the spring. Any advice would be great. I love this bike and i would love to get it back on the road !
ps my girl loves watching me fix and break things 😎
Hi, I wanted to check my coolant level on my CL250 but I couldn't find the level indicator that is pointed at the manual. I see the coolant cap at the backside, and the radiator cap but can't find the indicator of how much I have to fill (the lower/higher thingy).
Does anyone know where it is? It feels like it's in a somewhat unreachable part, or maybe a cover needs to be taken off that I don't know. Thanks!
I have a 1981 cb750 and the ignition was not it when I pulled it out of the shed. No clue where it is no clue what happened to it. Anyway I bought a new one and realized I don’t have the screws or bolts that hold them in place. Does anyone know what size and pitch they are so I can go pick some up. Let me know. Thank you.
So when I was 14 a family friend gave me an old Honda bike from I think the 70s. It’s been sitting in my mom’s shed for 13 years. Thought I got the vin but when I looked it up it showed nothing. Tiao1-20 is the number I found.
A couple of days ago, I’ve asked the motorcyclists here on their advice on the CB1000R. So today, here it is. My first Honda and my first liter bike. The bike rode perfectly and against most of the people, for the first time ever, I do truly love the note and the sound of the stock exhaust. A minor note, that I wish it had just cruise control and better headlights
This is my 77 cb750a i love this bike but i wish it was faster what are my best options and what carb upgrades can i do ik the reagular 750 carbs are bigger and a carb swapps the easiest upgrade but im not sure what all is the right one to get
Just started tearing down my 1979 Honda cb750f’s engine to start restoring this beauty and I think so far it’s looking pretty good! Only had 3400 original miles on the bike so I’m hoping it’s in pretty decent shape as I work my way down the engine! Looking forward to making some progress on this!
