hi everyone, i'm sorry if i'm missing some step before posting, in that case please let me know, anyway i recently bought a 2002 suzuki gsf 1200 bandit, the guy i bought it from had a dominator exhaust installed, and he insisted on keeping it, i wasn't too mad about it since it's not homologated to use here in italy but the bike seems to run fine for him in that configuration, air filter is stock and in good condition, when i took it home i rode it like 15 minuts to test it out with the stock exhaust and it was running fine, checked the spark plugs and they were a perfect brownish color, couple days later i installed an aftermarket exhaust and now the bike has a weird esitation at low throttle opening, spark plugs look too wihte for my likings. now my questions are the following, why is it running lean for me and it wasn't for the previous owner with the dominator exhaust? are this bike that sensitive to exhaust change? i had more than a few carburated bikes and they never seemed to care too much about slip on muffler change. the haynes manual says that i should swap to an hotter plug for temperature below 5 degrees celsius, could that be my problem? even tho i live 200km from where the previous owner was it's colder here and it's definitely more humid. i already moved the needle clip one notch down since it was on the leanest settings, i thing it got slightly better but that could just be placebo. if someone as any suggestion or experience with this situation please let me know, thank you.
p.s the bike as 72000km and i just did a valve clearence check since it was scheduled, nothing changed after the valve were adjusted, never doubt that was the problem anyway but i wanted to let you know that was done.
p.p.s all the cylinders have around 160 psi of compression, the engine is healty
What oil is everyone running? I have some regular non synthetic 10-40 oil sitting at my house I want to use just not sure if synthetic or not makes a huge difference
As you can see, a piece of my chassis has corroded. Is this a major issue?
I showed it to my mechanic and he said that it should be fine as long as I'm not riding it at like 180km/h as the rest of the chassis is fine.
Any input it appreciated!
Just bought a bandit S 600, just wondering if anyone here has swapped the front end out to more of the classic street fighter look and if you ran into any problems or if it was straight forward TIA.
Hi all,
As the title says, I took the Bandit out for a spin today and somewhere along the line saw that the screw that fastens the textured plastics of the top of the fairing near headstem/bars/dash etc. to the paintwork on the fairing is gone! What do I do? I have looked online but really I cannot seem to find this specific part to order another. Does anyone have any idea what it is?
Many thanks in advance.
Any idea what the source may be?
Hi all, Today my Bandit ('99 - gsf1200) wouldn't start, the lights and the Speedometer where on but pushing the button nothing happened. After moving some cables attached on the Control unit finally she start. I've tried to start many time, some time successfully and some not. I don't know if is some cable issue or the Humidity of today could cause some issue, also the battery is not a fresh one (but I didn't had any problem). Some advice or check that I can do?
Pretty sure my engine is seized, suddenly doesn’t crank. Happend mid drive.
1993 GSF400 GK75A, any idea where I can get an engine?
I have a ‘96 Bandit 600 that’s been sitting in my garage for the last 12 years or so, and it’s time to let it go. The bike ran great before it was parked, and had the tank & carbs drained (can’t remember when). So the question is: do I do the work to get it running again, or sell it as-is? I’m pretty mechanically savvy but am not an expert by any means. I hesitate to have the work done by a shop, simply because I doubt I’d make the money back. Also, what kind of price should I put on it, either running or as-is? I haven’t seen many for sale online recently. Thanks, looking forward to the opinions!
Hi suzuki addicts. Ive always loved the brand. my parents had an old ignis and jimny and loved them.
Im riding a inazuma right now and I think its a fantastic little runt. Slow but it gets me to my destination.
650's arent very common where I am (🇦🇺) second hand or brand new. I was looking for a 650 to upgrade from my gw250. Would you guys recommend the bandit for my next bike?
Thanks!
do i need it? any tips on oil filter adapters ?
im a newb about to do some DIY
Hi, Two days ago I bought a 2009 GSF 650S. Sounds great, runs great or so I thought. Rode it home about two hours on the motorway no issues whatsoever.
Yesterday I start the bike, all's fine, go for a short ride and then pop into a shop. When I try start the bike again, I get a FI flashing light and bike won't start. I turn of the ignition and the kill switch, wait ten seconds and the bike starts.
Then it happened again later the same days, and was able to get it started again by just turning ignition off and waiting a bit.
I tried finding the error code by accessing dealer mode. But I cannot find the right plug!! I checked under the seat and the right and left side covers. I found some guides for Suzuki bikes but could not find a plug with the wires as described (one red and white stripes and one black and white stripes).
Any ideas?? Today the bike started up fine but I have my bike test next week and don't want to risk this happening. I want to see what the error could be before bringing it to a local mechanic.
What would be the best all round tyres in the dry and wet for a 1250s?
I’ve been told that Pirelli Angel ST or Dunlop Roadsmart 2 would be the best but want some feedback from riders on how they faired.
Much appreciated!
Hey folks. Wondering is this can be done with the engine still in the frame and the average time to do the repair. Will be able to pick up one for cheap with a blown head gasket so I’m wondering if it’s worth or not.
Side note. Would it be better to just put a replacement engine into the bike?
Hi all
I have a 2009 Bandit 1250s. Can I use Castrol Power 1 4T 10W-40 in her? I find it confusing between the part synthetic/synthetic oils out there.
Cheers!
I haven’t ridden my bandit, 2003 1200s, in a decade but I do remember a couple scary tank slapper moments under hard acceleration. Has anyone else had this experience, and if so have you been able to stop the death wobble with a steering stabilizer or another way. I’m getting interested in fixing it up and riding it again I just want it to know it can be fun!
Im kinda new to motorcycles, just got a suzuki bandit gsf600 and today i noticed that some screw fall off during the ride.
Now im wondering what is it good for?
Does anybody know if it’s possible to swap the carburetors from a 2003 gsx600f onto a 1996 bandit 600? I currently have some broken carbs on my bandit and the only replacements I can find anywhere are from a 2003 gsx600f.
I’ve been working on this ‘96 bandit 600 for a few months and after an engine rebuild and many carb cleans I can finally get it to idle alright. However I just cannot get it to rev up. On the off chance I get it to rev up it doesn’t last very long and ends up not letting me do it again. It just makes a slightly lower toned bloog noise when I apply throttle. Any suggestions?
