I have carhartts I typically wear in the colder seasons at my job, but I ride year round and it rains fairly often so I also have some frog togg pullover rain pants I keep with me if it's really pouring.
I thought I'd see if there's some actual riding pants that look good and are comfortable as casual/work pants similar to the carhartts I wear, but have real riding protection and are totally waterproof. Not sure if the jeans versions keep you dry but the pants themselves stay soaked, I'm not looking for that I mean water just runs right off them.
I'd love to be able to just pick one pair of pants that is good for riding in, working in, and keeps my dry on rainy days so I can skip the hassle of dressing and undressing in pullover rain gear, and have more protection too in case of a crash.
Does anyone else experience that this helmet is "leaking" in air right above the eyes? I feel a constant air flow right into my eyes that makes them water up all the time. I'm basically crying in my helmet.
Wouldn't the armor insert just move or slide of the high friction zone of the impact if the garment they are in is too loose? For example if a rider is sliding belly down and he/she has loose riding pants on, would the armor in the knee, slide away from the knee and no longer provide protection? I guess this question is mostly in reference to riding jeans with armor pockets. I'm a soon to be rider and I don't want to make a stupid gear decision. Please advise. Thank you
Hey Everyone, i can't come to a decision after searching this sub and other forums for hours.
I'm a larger guy who wears a 44 waistline and 30 inseam and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to decide on solid pants in the $200 to $300 price range.
My bike is 2016 Honda Phantom so I'm trying to avoid sportier clothing if possible. The jacket I'm purchasing is Street and Steel Outlander jacket ($200) 5XL. I heard good things about it and tried it on in store.
Some posts say jeans but at the price range I'm looking at, not to bother with jeans because there's better quality pants? I don't want chaps, overalls, shorts, just one solid pair of pants that have amazing armour and slide time.
What are some things I should look for to narrow my search? Do I want Kevlar, Denim, other material? I don't know if I can trust Amazon pants and their reviews so I'm looking at cycle gear and revzilla mostly
I've been riding a DRZ400s for almost a year now and am considering buying leather motorcycle pants for when riding on the road. I've read 1.2 to 1.4 mm cowhide leather is good. I live in Arizona, so with the heat being an issue, I thought perforated leather or vents would be important. Also, I would be interested in a white color, most nearly all the leather pants I see for sale are black...why? Thanks for reading, and please give me some advice and recommendations. Perhaps suggestions for good used gear? my budget maxes at about $300.
Edit: I don't have a need for skid pucks commonly near the knee of leather pants. Are these typically removable?
Seems dangerous
I just picked out my helmet, and now I'm looking at other gear. What do you all think about this helmet? What other fear would you recommend?
UPDATE!
So I ordered a new helmet (AGV K1 2XL) it fits maybe just a little too snug. Doesn't give pressure/pain on the forehead but the cheeks are tighter than I think they should be (I don't think wear/time is going to be enough to get them not as tight). Would ordering the cheek pads in L or XL be thinner cheek pads or would those be thicker?
If thicker I guess I can't do much about it other then decide if I really want to wear/use it for awhile to see if they compress enough over time or send it back. Sometimes I really hate having a large head.
I'm in the market for a decent textile jacket. Where I live, the Alpinestars Viper V2 and the Rev'it Vertex Air jacket are currently on sale and retailing more or less at the same price. Before I splurge the green, I wanted to take your input as I'm really confused.
Help clear my head?
Hi, I'm currently looking for my first pair of boots for my first bike (Drz 400 SM). I've found a pair of used Alpinestar tech6 for 120$ and I'm wondering if it's overkill as I will mainly ride on street with some logging road. As they are kind of inexpensive I might consider to buy another pair more commuter friendly. What are you guys think about it? All comments/suggestions are welcome.
i'm heading off to a beginner's MSF course in a few weeks and i've been looking at helmets for quite a while. my budget is 200-300 but i can stretch it for something particularly nice, bike is a cbr300r so nothing super fast lol.
i've been mostly considering a modular over a solid full face for the convenience but i'm not sure how much safety i'd be giving up in that scenario. tried on a couple of helmets at a cyclegear, including some really expensive ones like a c3 lite and a neotec, but out of their limited selection a sedici sistema ii in either xl or 2xl seemed to fit me better. reviews on it are sparse though, and i dont know what kinda quality and longevity i can expect out of it. DOT and ECE approved but i dunno how legit the ECE rating is as i'm in the US.
alternatives that i've considered ordering in are a scorpion gt920, seems like scorpions are regarded to be good budget helmets and the gt920 has decent reviews. i've also considered going super safe with an arai, seems that i can get a dt-x for about 400 which would be stretching my budget a pretty good bit and i'd be giving up some very nice features, like a sun visor, modularity, bluetooth compatibility, etc. then again, ive seen this ebay listing from what appears to be a perfectly legit retailer for agv helmets, among other things, and the sportmodular looks fantastic (very expensive for my budget, even at that discount lol): first listing and second listing
i really have no clue what to go with here, any tips and help would be really appreciated!
p.s.: maybe some recommendations for good pants as well? jeans don't seem particularly useful in a slide/crash...
Every jacket I can find that isn't way too loose has arms that stop before my wrists when my arms are in riding position. I have tried on the tall size Bilt brand and it didn't fit right either. I have asked this question before on other subs but didn't get any answers that ended up working for me so I don't really expect to be able to find one but I'm still hoping to. I heard that revit and icon are both made longer but I've tried both on and the arms were still too short. I am thinking that I will just have to get a Motoport but I'm having trouble making myself spend that much and worry that it still won't fit right after I get it. I don't wear leather and have some old about how my clothes feel so it's really hard for me to find motorcycle gear. Can anyone confirm that Motoport is the way to go for me or have any other ideas that could work? Same goes for pants too. They're all way yo short if they fit my waist and the knee pads are above my knees while riding. I'm not even that long but it seems like everything only comes in pretty much one single shape. I appreciate any help even if it doesn't end up working out. TLDR: please give suggestions to non-leather pants and jackets that are made longer than most, especially in the arms.
Do either of them matter?
Looking at jackets, got myself narrowed down to the rev'it Sand 3 and the KLIM Latitude. looks like the biggest differences are that the sand 3 doesnt come with a back protector or goretex and the latitude doesnt include a thermal liner. This is my first jacket and im a new rider so im looking for a four season tank. Is goretex worth it? any experience with how long these last?
One last big question is how bad of a mistake is buying either in black? The sand 3 doesnt have much reflective on it but the latitude seems to have a good amount even on the black one.
Also looking at bull its full covec jeans, sand 3 gloves, and TCX Jupiter 4 boots but those arent so much questions as alternate suggestions/reviews welcome. Any and all advice appreciated
